I’ve given up, and will spend the rest of my days with my children and bicycles for company (and a few cheap and meaningless flings when I feel the need)

    Bah humbug an all that

But nice to see others have met the people right for them 😀

Valerie june – i Like this one – good pairing with john forte (fugees), but not sure about some of her own stuf – a bit too much like a blues dolly Parton at times, but this is great

Im with northwind. Last February I went into a carpark in shef and the only ticket machine wasnt working. So I figured out of use meant dont worry about it. Anyway I got several letters through.

I did contemplate contesting it – but that would have involved talking to them. So I ignored it – got a few letters and have heard nothing more since last summer

Thanks chew, I was hoping the brighton to newhaven bit wasnt going to be too bad traffic wise – but didn’t fancy doing the whole english section because I didn’t think it would be a very relaxing start to the journey.

Will look into the french section thats mentioned – im hoping its been sorted since that article was written 🙂

Thats good to hear, and i doubt the route being open for a while will have changed that much – I cant see it being over run with cyclists trying to wildcamp so we should be able to hide ourselves away a bit

That might be a good first night stop as I think the day crossing makes more sense (as in less paiful for me tryin to rouse and motivate small people off a boat at the crack of dawn!) 🙂

wild camping is our first choice everytime – every night of the great glen trip and we managed to do quite a bit in the isle of man too.

They both want to ride to paris though – I think it’s because i did it last year. although my trip was just a quick there and back (london to paris in 24 hours followed by cocktails nice hotel and train back) so their trip will be a lot different!

i have thought about the outer hebrides and it’s definitely on my must do list.

my youngest and his bikepacking bags – you can get quite a bit in – but sleeping bags still go in my panniers

They are quite hardy, we live in sheffield and they ride 7 miles most days for their school run so they are happy to ride for much longer on trips.

This is the set up we used in the isle of man

Not feb half term no, they have done frozen camps before but have yet to do frozen bike camping . . . Will be easier to do when they are bigger and can carry more of their own gear!

We have done a few trips before when they were 5&6 we did a whoping 30 something miles over a few days, the next year we did 60+ miles on the great glen way and the year after we did a lap of the isle of man.

We didnt do a big one last year – and I have been told that I have to sort a trip this year. They have done the previous trips on mountain bikes but I might go for road bikes this time if the surface is suitable.

Awesome – I came on here to hide from this kind of temptation/torment after you posted it in BB’s McMoonter!

Now ive seen it twice it must be a sign – that I really must go . . Now for the plan- sell kids and buy a plane ticket 🙂

Polygamy is great for increasing the population as fast as possible – so i think it should be banned

Polyandry on the hand limits population growth – but is only practiced in tibet, I think it should be promoted . . . . Well seems like an amusing idea for a nano second until you think of the reality…..

Wharfdale pacific pi-10 (I think) which are good but miss my pair of rogers db101’s (lent them to a friend and it has sort if becime a trade after they did me a massive favour – not complaing but really miss those speakers!) – which I think looked nicer and had a great sound. Both very old now but buying new hifi never seems to get to the top of my todo list!

I wish there was a way, a house round the corner from me has pigs painted on the side – still clear afteromeone has tried to remove it – I live in a not particuarlr friendly part of sheffield and the family that live there are black. I dont understand how it is has been deemed acceptable to do it in the firt place and then to leave if there for years. I cant imagine what it must be like for the family who live there to have it daubed on there wall.

Every time I come up the road it makes me upset and its not my house. If there was an easy way to get it off id happily do it – and have often been temtped to go and graffiti some flowers over the top

Rant over – but intersted to see what is suggested

I guess it brings a certain kind of equality after years of the joys of the wonderbra – where many men have wondered if there was anything in it . . . . . Now we can wonder what kind of blubba avalanche we may unleash taking a ‘fit’ guys top off . . .

@tbd – it was a great weekend, third t&b ive done and all have had fantastic weather (yes chuffing cold and a bit breezy but im happy with that given the amount of rain we’d had leading up to it) can thoroughly recommend it 🙂

I think I would have been more into biking at 17 if I had singletrack from my door and hadn’t been living in the godforsaken hole that is the lincolnshire swamps fens – as it was there was little to do as a teenager apart from drink and get up to no good

Not sure id have jumped at the chance of manilla envelopes however bored I got!

At 17 I topped off my years of shocking bad teenage behaviour by ending up pregnant and homeless – nothing like setting yourself up for some difficult times ahead!

Edit I was actually 16 – but then had my beautiful daughter at 17 – think I did quite a good job of her too, I can also claim to have been model making. I didnt realise it at the time though!

cookeaa – Member Five minutes and I think I’ve found you on FB OP, including some photos, I could park in your street (if I knew your postcode) wait to see which house you leave, then rob you blind. Not that I plan to, I’m not much into banshees… Or crime.

    How?! Am I being daft

Edit – I am, I guess the op has used the same email address on here as he has for his fb

The more I read these threads the more I analyse myself and decide I am best off on the shelf – geez its a minefield. Cant say id pat a guy on the back instead of hug him, or feel the need to drink at their pace, but conversly when I ride with men I want to feel I can keep up, sometimes I may be quicker (are we then supposed to slow down and ride 10 paces behind)

    adjustablewench

    Ha ha – shhhhh!!!

I took it very steady anyway (and luckily my two riding partners were too polite to complain at the coughing or the slow pace!)

Anyway my doctor says I dont need to avoid exercise :p

Just after a month I really dont seem to be fighting this one at all. Really unpleasant day yesterday in a meeting in one of our regional offices – my cold decided to go up a gear and I had a day of bloody sinus gunk to add to my chest gunk. Delightful – and sorry for the description but this realy isnt just a lingering cold

I hope the 15 day course of antibiotics will kill the thing as it seems to be getting worse not better

PS Re-read this and I admit it sounds OCD, but it does work!

In fact thinking about this it sounds far from ocd. When i get to work I usually shower if ive ridden in. Then I was my hands eaach time I make a coffee – as I know ive been sat there coughing into them and blowing my nise, and I also wash my hand when I go to the loo – so twice a day really doesnt sound ocd 🙂

I am good at that having been a nurse – the problem I have is that I got one cold that hasnt gone, I javent passed it to my family or those I work with so I cant be that unhygienic with it.

Just want to get over the bloody thing

And no I dont pick my nose a lot! Or rub my eyes.

Having been the mum of four vectors of disease children for quite some time I am well versed in preventing bug transmission. However got a cold before december and the bloody thing is still ravaging me

Just out of the drs armed with prescriptions for antibiotics and more drugs for after the antibiotics to help me with the effects of those! Oh the joy!

No I dont work in an animal testing lab – after me my boss probably does the most exercise but hes a runner and thinks you have to be mental to ride a bike.

The immume thing I get is actually a dermatological condition and I have to take (topical) steroids for that to keep it in check – but it has required lots of medical appointments this year so it would appear to my boss that I am just ‘ill’ a lot

Have been living of fruit veg and lean meat for the last few weeks.

I have been told to avoid refined sugars, alcohol tea and coffee for over a year now – the only one I struggle with is coffee but I would say i generally eat healthily. If I snack during the day it tends to be fruit and nuts

Fittest in terms of I do the most exercise – I am not claiming any other kind of fitness (or indeed any of the title as it was a label given to me by my boss)

Ha ha Dr hora – the mind boggles

Sleeping more but disturbed due to couhhing atm.

Not ridden since the weekend when I did the bearbones there and back (which I did take very steady and did 60 miles) – oh and did commute monday and tuesday but thats nothing crazy.

So I wouldnt say I had really trained all week.

And no not enough sex – but hey I am old, single and currently full of snot so thats hardly a suprise!
