Deadkenny – so are you gonna give 2pure a call ? as for a expensive set of wheels that are supposedly 10 speed compatible that’s BAD !

I see your cassette has also been rubbing on the spoke flanges on the hub body !

NOPE… The back is fairly low on a Canyon Nerve AM and the saddle is high cos I rode it to work and like a really stretch out leg when riding on the road. When off road I drop it a fair way.

There’s plenty of post in the seat tube still too.

Fit’s me and my riding style perfectly.

I’ve got the circular hub design I think, so that’s the older one I take it?

However, now the hub has cracked on the top threads and the lockring came loose recently on a ride.

Yes that’s the OLD hub design, and under the 2 yr guarantee 2pure “should~” replace it FOC. 🙂 give em a call.

    Old Design:

New Design – with more “meat” around the pawls:

    Any answer from 2pure?

Yeah they where great… once I got through there silly – “sorry we are experiencing technical delays” phone system, oh BTW they go home at 4pm on Friday! The thin Blue / clear spacers that come with the wheels re for spacing the cassette away from the hub spoke flange.

My Bike shop have fitted it all up nicely now 🙂 and I love the wheels.

p.s. I’ve read comments about some lockrings being deeper than others. Is it possible to get a deeper lockring? Also would a Shimano 10 speed be a better fit?

Not sure about lock rings, but a Shimano 10 sp cassette has the rivets in a slightly wider ring… so they clear the hub spoke flanges better. We tried a Shimano 10 sp in the shop before I got to the bottom of the issue with 2pure.

I’ve got some old Walshes and Wave Harriers in 10.5 (I think).

They’re a bit knackered but you can have a pair for the price of a pint and the postage?

Edit: actually, have both if you want – the Mrs moans that I have more pairs of shoes than she does.

Cool. that sounds like the best plan 🙂

I presume that their not absolutely foo-ked are they ? mind you for a couple of £’s1 LOL is it too much to ask for a Piccie ?

Drop me a PM with postage cost & your bank details and i’ll pop some cash in for ya –

I’ve got a WEEDZ snow board hood / balaclava thing from Decathalon… it was about £8 and is AMAZIN its thin where it needs to be (at the back) and thicker at the front and top… works really well, and has a weird vent thing at the front.

Or when its REALLY cold I wear the above plus a nifty lil face mask:

    Nice ‘n’ warm 🙂

My oldest lad is allowed outside no matter what the weather, and he often comes home COVERED in mud n stuff.

They even have a small woods to play in (it has a “outdoor classroom” there for the summer, log benches etc etc. ) and this week they have been shaking the smaller trees and throwing snowballs at the branches to make the snow fall… Great fun, HARMLESS fun.. no problems.

    +1 on muffin man & funky dunc’s comments 🙂 I remember the days…

what size? i have a pair of inov8 flyrocs that are a couple of years old but due to illness i have only run in them twice. thirty quid if they’re of any use, either an 8.5 or 9 not sure will have a look. email at nickhart69 at gmail dot com.

    10.5 i’m afraid, cheers tho.

Watching a video of the muddy runner events, get a cheap pair of runners from sports direct or something, and throw them away. I would not be buying a pair of inov8’s or something to do that to them

That’s the plan… as I also assumed that they will get trashed! but I do want some grip under my feet !

XDA Pro 3D’s are £30 in Go Outdoors.

Ive just got some of these as they were so cheap.
They seem pretty good so far and are popular on the fell runner forum.
    Mizuno wave harrier

That’s the sort of thing, cheers chaps 🙂

and the right size is… down to the riders preference for a small agile chuckable frame with plenty of stand over height, so it fits & suites ME perfectly.

Saddle down on the rough stuff – remember.

    adi66

Whoa……… thats a lot of seatpost, when will that much leverage snap the frame ?

It is! lol and I hope never… its got a fair few inches inside the frame well below the line of the top tube, so will be OK. I like the old arse up-hands down position – that description sounds wrong but hey ho!

What does it work well on? Is it more of an upper or a downer?

Its a All Mountain… so everything really.
It’s only got a 1/2 degree difference in head angle to the XC version – but longer travel forks.

Climbs AMAZIN & descends just as good with those 140mm Fox’S taking care of the bumps.

I’m not big on the white saddle or forks but hey at least the white grips it had are now gone! saddle might get changed, and unfortunately the forks will have to stay white – which is a shame as I too love the Stealth look 😉

Nice, just to check though, there is at least 1″ of seat post below the top tube / seat tube join?

Yeah there is at least another 3 inches… the nice people at Canyon have numbered the back of the post:

10 at the top (lowest setting) and 0 at bottom (its highest setting) and in the lil’ window in the seat tube i’m part way between No 3 & No 4 so plenty there… I do like a nice high saddle for riding to work. Off road it goes down by a few inches. 🙂

err.. you need more snow and ice

I know, and want it to come… roll on tonight & Friday! But I’m just running the tyres in as instructed by the manufacturers.

Ta… rides well too… although running in the studded tyres on Tarmac @6am this morning was interesting until I learned to trust them !

Ade – forgive my ignorance… did you design the PRST forks?

why we designed the Preston forks

If ya did, TOP MAN they steer and track over small & large bumps like no bike fork I’ve ever ridden, and I love them, they do dive a bit under braking, but not much and hey what fork doesn’t !!

Nick3216 – Yeah I had heard all the horror stories, but can’t find anyone that’s ACTUALLY OWNED AND RIDDEN THEM HARD that’s managed to destroy one! Get that photo up it’d give us a laugh!

    I’m a bit of a linkage fork perv….

    In the collection I’ve got:

GT Xizang with Quasar No 1’s (and some of those other “shockingly bad components – Spinergy Rev X Roks !!! Oh the Horror! ) fitted to it and I LOVE them… I used to ride them everyday through my school, college & Uni years. They (the wheels and forks) had a reputation for snapping, but I’ve never had a problem and they’ve had some pretty hard hits over the years.

Excuse the Pic its a dodgy edit, and a few years old too.

I’ve got a PRST1 WORKS XT – LOVE IT… and ride it wherever I can.

…and a Kenisis Ultra Light fitted with some Carbon Look Fournales… check them bad boys out!

The latest steed has fox Talas 32’s and somehow there not as responsive as the Whyte.

@Downhille…. and how many links and bushes / bearings does a modern full susser have. It’s OK you can like a PRST1-4 :-p

It’s probably the driving there which is the issue.

Jamie, its the getting there for sure! I live a hours drive away… and I’m not convinced that I’ll get onto the main roads away from my house, let alone all the way to Cannock ! 🙂

I REALLY WANNA GET OUT THO, SO I MIGHT HAVE TOW THE KIDS SLEDGE BEHIND ME TOMORROW!

Just tried to lave the house in the car (I live at one of the highest points in the city) and when I got to the top of the road, and saw the mass of headlights at the bottom of the hill…. i turned round, maybe I wont be going to Cannock Tomorrow !

Booooo TOO MUCH SNOW, still if it stays like this I will be sledging at the park next to me 🙂

some bits I won’t be telling you about….

..Be like that then , i’ll go on my own Off Piste Route 😛 LOL

Last week the Goat & Ewok’s where – er interesting… Especially the nice big STEEP decent just inside the chase by Mammoth @ Milton! the ford at the bottom was shall we say a little chilly! 🙂

That’s it then If I can get out of the house, as its really falling here and is already hiding the curbs on the roads, I’m there. With my trusty mate Mr Go-Pro HdH2 🙂

The frames seem to be a tad lardy and you can’t sit on or test ride them.

    Really, I suppose you have one ? ? ?

My AM6 weighs in at 12.9kg all in …. weighed on automotive corner weighing scales at work, and yes they are calibrated!.

Read the reviews people… so many mags can’t be wrong!

Why would I pay for the privilege of a bike from a LBS ? Whats the point / advantage… my LBS service my canyon no worries and I buy stuff from them (and the net too)

Sizing a bike need not be done in a shop – I bought my Canyon without using the size thing on their site, I know how big I am and how big my other bikes are… a few measurements, and check of the canyon geometry and I have to say my bike is bang in 🙂

Test Rides – Tosh what shop lets you really test them anyway ? unless you hire the thing.

Follow your instincts… and your wallet (and missus) will thank you.Mine did I got a bang on bike, and she got some LeBoutins (sp)with the saved cash ! 🙂

…its one up from the dogs bollocks (IMO)

    +1 on that fella!

I’m slowly making my AM6 into a AM-9X… wheels first.

Like you i agree it made me ride down things I’d never dream of doing, and made me push my skills to the limit (but the bike just lapped it up)

I did test a Trek Fuel and Specci Camber… and he Canyon is ABSOLUTELY MILES better to ride IMO
