Have previously owned and well used Isla’s but we have the Hoy Bonaly 24’s which saved a few squids.

Very good bikes and fitted some F1 RST Air Suss forks for Alps / BPW type days… not essential for most types of rides.

Brechfa is great, just back from a week thee with the family. Loved the black the big grins made all the pedalling well worth it. Not sure I’d vote for it over Afan though for beginners.

Both have lots to offer. Afan has better bike shops and cafe stops and maybe more trail marked runs. Might be easier to access too depending on where you are coming from.

    Either will be great.

CYB also has options too of course.

Thanks all – lots of useful info here & great pics. Very cute.

I really didn’t know about the saliva allergy, I thought it was just the dander.

I do like the small dogs too but I think we’d want a bigger one… we probably need to spend some time with some of the supposedly less allergenic breeds to see if we get the same reaction as when we are with ‘regular’ dogs.

The Spanish water dog was suggested by someone previously too. Love the floppy locks on that one.

    Thanks again.

Mate has the stache and loves it. he’s much quicker over the techy bits than he used to be too.

… does look a bit like a clown bike with backward forks and long stem tho.

<edit> did cost more than 500 notes though – sorry, just saw that.

My 9 yr olds are on the Hoy Bonaly 24 if it helps (with after market suspension forks). 1 of them is the tallest in his class so they are not teeny. They could fit 26″ wheel bikes and can ride their mum’s but probably not down the techy stuff.

Not sure you’re actually allowed to buy a bike this year of it’s not an Evil Following – according to the mags.

It does actually meet your spec though.

Agreed. I tried this last week. The staff were clueless too so I gave up and popped in to a small hardware store to make my purchase – goodbye Wickes. 🙁

I can’t believe that this concept passed a trial phase. (Dorking branch) maybe it is the trial phase.

You’ll need to search around a bit. Whichever you choose, they only have a certain amount of free bandwidth per week and so are often used up by the time you want to make your track.

    Good luck.

One of my mates had one of those bikes with a big box on the front, popular in Cambridge and Holland. More expensive than a trailer though.

I used a trailer for my twins, Halfords job cost about 100 quid. it was fine for bridleways, roads etc. Also very handy when they could ride themselves and I could load it full of stuff when riding to the beach in France or filling it full of shopping on camping holidays.

    Good luck.

yeah, we had a great time at Afan – forgot how good it was… but mates say that Cwmcarn is one of their favourite riding locations… if the weather is good you won’t go wrong with either mate.

…although personally, I’d do both and skip one of the days at BPW. 1 iday s usually enough for me for a few months at least. 🙂

    Enjoy.

I was speaking to VW about this on the weekend. They were saying that the Transporters including kombis were okay to be classed as vans (for VAT reclaim purposes) but that the Caddys are not. Their Caddy sales have correspondingly collapsed.

Secondly – kudos for making enough money as a Landscape tog to make it a career. If you managed that I’m sure you can figure out the VAT rules 😉

..personally, I’m off to outsource the question to my accountant.

I use it for backups of photos / vids other content from laptops and (try to) back up off site too.

I used to have a 2 disk mirrored 2*1TB set up. You have more than 1 disk so that when 1 disk fails you don’t lose any content and just plug in another drive.

Off site is poss but for big photo /vid files it would take ages to upload and download every time you wanted to edit them with a standard ADSL connection.

ephotozine used to be good. Not bothered for a while.
Flickr is obvs the biggest but comments generally less useful.

you looking to learn, sell or just have people say ‘nice pic’?

There are smaller more specific sites where people will have knowledge of your areas of photography if you want to learn.

+1 for try them and get the decent bike shop input too.

People often start off on a longer bike due to being used to the position from MTBing then go shorter as they get used to roadie-ing. A shorter set up does encourage you to get down in the drops more but if it’s short then this will be no good too.

Try a few bikes if you can.

    Good luck.

lol. You’re friends certainly will take the piss when we meet up on the 6th 😉

    In the spirit of honesty:

I too own brown cords (mine are from Paul Smith dahling) but I usually whistle-up for interviews.
I also recently employed someone who wore brown cords to an interview (despite not because of).

White shirt is a good call.

    Good luck!

No mate. Luckily not. They say that you only pay when they dispatch the bike but I have since heard of people who cancelled and subsequently had their card debited and the bike arrive ages afterwards.

I also asked them to confirm in writing that the cancellation was confirmed, just in case.

I think I got let off lightly with some mild frustration.

    it is your size?

    do you like green?

I ordered one in October Deliver dates came and went, promises flew by and also they basically admitted that they had no idea when the bike would arrive – despite mailing me and telling me it was about to be dispatched.

I was just about willing to forgive this because I had heard that they were good at replacing broken shape shifters but then I heard that this season people had gone 4 months waiting for replacements and were making quotes like “the worst seasons riding in my life”.

For me buying a bike is the start of your relationship with the company not the end and if I cannot count on them then I do not need this stress in my life. My previous bike was an Orange 5 and those guys are completely awesome when it comes to customer service.

Personally, I cancelled my order in December and bought one of these. It’s a steal at the price, rides like an absolute weapon and I know there is a good network of support and advice when I need it.

    Good luck!

Auto renew is how they make their money. Hook you in at a low price then whack it up at auto-renew and wonder why people don’t trust insurance companies.

Yeah you get some challenging teams. There are ways to try and change behaviours:

    – Run spikes / PoC’s
    – Run test sprints with different ways of working
    – Run a team retro and identify where you have areas where you could improve
    – Lunch & learn sessions
    – Agile games if they are not experienced in this space
    – Seed in guys who have worked in this way from other teams if the organisation is big enough
    – Bring in a coach with the right experience if you don’t already have the internal knowledge

good luck – it’s worth the effort!
