Man, I haven’t seen them since 1990 when I caught a drumstick in Wolverhampton!

Yes, I have one on each of my bikes. Just a small, light unobtrusive thing! They do smooth the way when other people are around…

Yup, I’ve had my Prophet for a few years now. You can’t beat them for the money! Definitely use the FR setting for more smiles on the downs.

I think Merlin are doing some good offers on full 2012 Slx with wheels and Rebas….add a sale frame – Rock Lobster 853 or similar and some sale finishing kit for sub-1k.

Ordered a helmet from them earlier this year, helpful on the phone and fast delivery.

I’ll be cheeky and say it’s Beacon Hill – part of the Lickeys. You can’t quite see the miniature folly castle to the right

P.S. Those Hope ProII wheels you sold me finally got their first outing at the CyB Enduro last w/e!

Riding home was bad enough for me – felt like I was on a turbo trainer in the shower!

If you missed this, you can pick up a Madison Flux (essentially the same saddle) in black/brown/white at a similar price. I have two in use and find them quite comfy….

    Madison Flux £17.49

Also slightly cheaper at Merlin IF you use the 10% VIP discount and get 5% cashback via Topcashback…..

    10 in all regular shoes/trainers
45 MO77 just purchased, feel ok with thin socks, might be a bit tight with sealskinz but will loosen off the velcro…

I did the Tim Woodcock route with a couple of friends between Easter and May Day – a good challenge as we went unsupported and used OS map extracts. We stayed in YHA accommodation almost every night and rode to Whitby to stay there afterwards and catch the train home.

    GPS c2c route

The bog on the way over to Shap was ‘nice’! The route does take in some great descents though.

WRT the book – it is very basic and we hardly used it as the ‘maps’ are akin to a 13-year old’s first attempt at WordArt in c.1995.

I got this for a run around – 1983 BMW 728i, 89k, FSH, mint condition with full MOT for £540. Superb to drive and bags of character! I love an old barge :D

If you want a short-ish commute I’d suggest SW Brum. I live by the Lickey Hills and ride to work in the centre – about 30 mins via road/canal. I have a reasonable amount of local riding on the doorstep and the M5 and M42 within 5 minutes drive. You can make a long ride out to the Clent/Wyre Forest area too.

Alvechurch and Barnt Green have a village-y feel and are <30mins by train on the cross city line to the University.

If you want ‘cool’ try the Moseley-Kings Heath or Harborne areas for the young-uns. Too built up for me though.

Alternatively, on the north side of the city centre, Sutton Coldfield or SE, Solihull area.

I’ve been out and about in my E23 728i auto this weekend. a bit of sideways action here and there but some forward planning on hills and junctions saw me right. I like the comment in the owners manual that up to 50kg of ballast can be added to the boot to aid traction!

I’ll offer a handshake to whoever I meet for business. Firm shake for the blokes. A limp handshake just makes me think they are a wet lettuce – usually true…

Yup, a year ago whilst helping someone adjust their front brake before a work ‘team building’ ride I’d organised….felt pretty daft. Nearly took the end off but seems to have healed quite well now.

I had to do my rope access recert the next week which was fun with no useable right hand index finger!

I’ve had a couple of pairs of 3/4 Zyme shorts – very good. The popper does come undone now and again, although that could be related to my gut…

I’m a guitarist and picked it up pretty easily on this. Now moving onto something more £££ as I enjoy it so much.

    In Ullapool:

The Ceilidh Place is very nice/chilled, great food too.
The Caledonian was grubby/tired – not recommended!
The Royal Hotel is quite nice although reminded me of The Shining when I was there last Jan/Feb(understandably very quiet).

All good fun, I actually live on Lickey Road so am tempted to do a night ride recce. Although, the powers that be would probably use 'reasonable force' to stop such fun!

I may try some long exposure shots of the 65,000+ people walking up the road during the night

Was there with 7 others. Stayed in Morzine at a luxury catered chalet with hot tub

A good day out, nothing too hardcore about it but taking the DH options where you can such as at Le Lindarets = good fun.

Lots of exploring still to do next time…
