20 years for me since finishing my last postdoc but I have retained quite a bit. Group theory seems to have stuck somewhat and its use in deciphering the rotational aspects of IR spectroscopy has for some reason stuck in my head. Ooo I do like the old PQR bands.

And I do like a bit of Z-nucleophilic substitution, me. 🙂

The systemd default command creates a symlink in /etc/systemd.d/system which points to a directory in there which defines your default mode.

Either check what’s in there (ls /etc/systemd.d/system) and link it yourself (ln -s /etc/systemd.d/system/graphical.target /etc/systemd.d/system/default.target). Or use systemd: systemctl set-default graphical.target.

Have they redesigned the kit? I thought that only on 27″ imacs you can add more memory. I thought on the smaller ones they were welded to the motherboard and fixed.

If you want standard, off the shelf stuff I’d go to KRCS (bought my first iMac from them). If you want to max out the memory (as you can’t do it later) then go to Apple direct.

My FTP only got modified after KISS (D) race the other week. I’m now doing workouts most nights to improve the FTP (I think its working 🙂 ) and there is no FTP adjustment. Perhaps races/group rides and just riding along (> 20 mins) causes it to trigger.

@nathb – yes I’ve grabbed them. I did Sufferfest – The Hunted yesterday. 🙂 I’d like their workouts to be extended more. TrainerRoad has oodles apparently and structured training plans. But then this could be trying to make Zwift into something it isn’t meant to be.

I’m doing mainly workouts on Zwift and they seem OK. The 6 week FTP builder was a bit easy so I’ve moved onto hard/easy days and made up my own recovery workout.

I’d be interested in TrainerRoad but they demand payment up front that you can claim back within the first 30 days. I’d prefer a login and try for a couple of weeks like Zwift first.

I’m now looking to get a training schedule worked out on Zwift. I’ve been looking at the 6 week FTP builder but reviews have said it was not up to much (way too easy for building).

Possibly Mon – Fri Hard/recovery and a longer ride on Sunday, Saturday being a rest day.

Depends. Normally ‘no’ as long as it we were both either happy to understand a difference of opinion and may even chat about it while accepting we may differ in opinion.

My nephew, however, has decided he’s”right wing”. So right wing that he’s started quoting/retweeting Tommy Robinson and EDL, continually disparages muslims and bigs up both Trump and Faridge, so much so he finds it “delicious” (his words) about people being upset about Trump etc. He actively delights in others’ pain.

So much so that while he’s only 19 I’ve told him to get stuffed, sling his hook and come talk to me when he wants to behave like a human being. If he doesn’t decide to respect other people then as far as I’m concerned I want nothing more to do with him.

Well I’m a complete idiot. I chose the wrong turbo: Elite Red Fluid as opposed to the real one: Elite Crono Fluid. It now reads as a much more accurate snail-like speed! 🙂

I’ve just dug out my ANT+ and given Zwift another go. I quite like it and really need to get back into things as I’ve put a little weight on and need to strengthen my lower back.

The only issue I have is that with my setup (Elite Crono Fluid + Garmin speed sensor) Zwift seems to think I’m a lot better than I *know* I am – just pedalling along it says I’m doing 45mph! I’ve put my weight in OK and the right set-up. Any ideas?

I don’t want to hook strava into this and blast a lot of hard working people KOMs out of the water.

I am tempted by a Wahoo Kickr SNAP though… 🙂

I worked in Odense for a month many moons ago. I loved it. I liked the fact that the shops closed on Saturday afternoon, that the bakeries (even the local ones) had gorgeous pastries. The people were friendly, even the Jehovah’s witness on the street seemed nice (but I answered in Welsh so she thought she had no chance 😀 ).

I also tried ‘lager’ (which means ‘to store’) there. Knocked my head off.
