Went with PetPlan for my (wonderful) border collie in May. In June found he had a ruptured cruciate ligament and surgery cost about £4,000.

They took a bit longer than normal but I got a cheque. I dread to think what other insurers would have done.

Cost for PetPlan was £380 this year. I’m up approximately £3,620. 😀

Hi Tom, where did you get that from? XBone hasn’t got the PS4 trounced AFAIK. There’s an edge for the PS4 if anything due to its memory handling.

    Willing to be proven wrong.

Do you have quotes or are you making it up? 😀

I have had a PS4 since March and it is a good machine. The games are OK – inFamous Second Son is good and I’m completely hooked on Destiny and *may* give Watch_Dogs a third or fourth chance afterwards though wasn’t too impressed with its constant car type stuff with rubbish handling.

But I wouldn’t get an XBone as I don’t want it to try and control my access to telly and the like and is a *slightly* less powerful machine. And it is Microsoft and I despise them with a passion (though, to be fair I see things slowly changing there, mainly because they’re not a complete monopoly any more).

Andrew Brown is basically in way above his head. When he writes about things like church hierarchy or stuff like that it is interesting. Over the past few years, however, he seems to be doing a daily mail-like witch hunt against the likes of Sam Harris.

He *really* hates Dawkins though, he usually tries to stick the knife in whenever he possibly can.

Fortunately for his blogs entries, however, there is much more intelligence from the commenters than the article, which is as rare as hen’s teeth!

I look forward to them there driverless cars, which (hopefully) will be programmed to follow the highway code 100% and also try to avoid accidents. Jerks won’t be *allowed* to pass with micrometres to spare or speed.

We bought the same DC39 animal one t’other week. It is very good, the only thing I don’t like about it is the size of the bin. We have a hairy dog and the hair catches around the sides. And it doesn’t hold as much so we have to empty it much more often than we did our DC04.

But as a vacuum cleaner it rocks.

To be fair if you had hydrogen stored in your house you may suddenly vanish with a large squeaky pop.

Seriously though it now appears the climate change deniers (not skeptics, to be a skeptic there must be a way of changing your position if enough evidence is given) are on the back-foot. Indeed while I was walking the mutt on Saturday morning there was an article on the ‘Today’ programme about how the ‘skeptics’ are now actually agreeing that anthropomorphic climate change was happening but were now mainly arguing about what the effect is/will be.

Yes, moved from Swindon back to Nottingham to be living with MrAdamW. Went to a technology company in Beeston (a big one) and had a bullying boss who I found was reading my personal emails (things usually like “I’ll be late for tea as I’m working.”). Stress levels went through the roof.

Handed in my notice within three weeks of being there. Massive weight off my shoulders. Was a bit worried when it was leaving time but got a job paying an extra £7k within three weeks in the area, which was much better. Result!

If it adds anything I found this online:

This may have something to do with it.

My mam died just three weeks ago today. She was treated at Ysbyty Wrecsam Maelor and for some reason I couldn’t find the work-shy evil nurses etc in Wales that the mail and the tories like to bang on about. They treated her in her dying days with respect (even getting whiskey put on her prescription for a nightcap!).

Oh, but of course, NHS Cymru isn’t managed by the Tories. Therefore only bad press about it.

I thought when Cameron got in that perhaps the Tories weren’t *that* bad. I was right. They’re far far worse.

IMO some people are just wired up differently, some people end up straight, gay, bi, into S/M, paedophiles.

Fixed that for you. “Oh you’re not straight, you must be weird/different/a threat to children”. 😕

My new wonderful border collie (got in March this year, rescue) was limping after a walk. Broken cruciate ligament. I had it fixed but the bill came to a little short of £4,000.

Fortunately he was insured so they paid up, but even if he wasn’t it would have been money well spent. My dog is fantastic.

    Not me. (Hi Emsz!)

I found people doing incredibly inane crap and recommending rubbish ‘games’ infuriating. So I cancelled my account, and am happy I did so.

Its one thing to debate whether circumcisions of medical benefit. Its another to insinuate that anyone who thinks its a good idea is some sort of peadophilic sadist!

Good attempt to smear, but it doesn’t work. *some* of the religious nutters do this, if you saw the link. Baby died because of herpes infection caused by this.

Also as I mentioned – anaesthesia is not a minor thing especially in a child. You seem to think it is an easy walk in the park.

    AdamW

    Quite a lot.

While I can understand that people can get infected anywhere this is the first time I have heard of a lot of people having this. I call ‘bull’.

It’s the same argument as vaccination, do you put the child at a slight risk now for the sake of avoiding a very slight risk of problems in the future.

    FTFY.

Anaesthesia is always risky. Unless you’re one of those creepy priests who suck the end of the willy after chopping off the foreskin which may cause infection and/or death?[/url] Eww.

Circumcision might have various health benefits, including

The key is in the word ‘might’. I ‘might‘ grow an extra set of arms so I can play multiplayer Destiny by myself but it is unlikely to happen.

I wouldn’t mutilate a child on the off-chance that something may happen in the future. If it was that prevalent then half of Europe would be in trouble. For religious reasons I would let the child grow up and decide for themselves if they wanted to chop a bit of themselves off.

And I say that as someone who had it done about 6 years ago for medical reasons.

I played the Beta and loved it. Some people have complained about the single-player part but they have just steamed through it without much exploration.

Playing it through with a mate every so often, and since we’re both fairly crap it is quite fun. “Serious” gamers wouldn’t want us on their team as we’re too busy having a laff.

On PS4. Gamer tag: Aardgoose, add me in if you like!

If they can vote to stay or go, I think we (English) should be allowed to vote of we want them (Scotland) to remain as part of the UK or not actually.

Why only the English? Do the Welsh/Northern Irish have a say too? It’s this kind of mentality which is causing the Scots to want to leave!

Yeah, and we’ll do the same on a possible ‘stay-in-the-EU-vote’ too, to allow all of Europe a vote to decide if the UK stays in!

    *runs* 😛

My nana used to try and say ‘substitute butter’ but she always ended up with ‘prostitute butter’.

I have olive oil spread (margarine is no longer sold) but like a bit of salted butter every now and then.

Don’t they fold after six months or something? Get the interest in new year (“new year – new you” bollox) then as interest dwindles stop then think of the one for the next year.

The beta version used it as just your transport to different zones. Don’t think there are dogfights. You do get a planet transport you can call up and dash around in and shoot.

But the game itself was pretty awesome. I’m looking forward to it and I don’t often look forward to gaming.

I got one from the local window company that was layered plastic and looks pretty posh. Composite, they’re called. Cost around a grand.
