Not BS, that’s exactly what I was told by Big Stone (then 5.10 distro, dunno if they still are) when I looked into stocking 5.10 a few years back.

    Yes.

Amateur – you need to “showroom” it at as many local shops as possible, using as much of the salespersons time as possible, before scanning the qr code and loudly proclaiming how much cheaper it is from China.

Fark me, that’s a selection of confusing answers!

Your adaptors will be matched to you rotor size, not the calipers that go on them, so they’ll fit avid or shimano (or hayes/formula/hope etc) calipers just fine.

Rode there last night – all of the red is open (bar one small diversion).
First black (parallel universe?) is open too.
It was actually riding pretty well last night, a bit of standing water on the open red section after true blue, but otherwise it’s drained really well.

A friend has one, and she fits 2 people and 2 bikes in it.
    Get it bought.

It seems to be generally less busy this year compared to previous years, so you should be ok.

On a related note, Llangegla – ruined my bike last night, as with no crashing involved, I snapped the damper in my forks and delaminated the pedal insert on my cranks. And got a flat. And my light bracket broke, causing light to jettison…

You should be able to get SLX’s for that from most places – they’ve just had a price cut.
You’ll be able to use the existing mounts and rotors from your Avids, just chuck the tri align washers.

You can order replacement axles from most LBS’s.
If you reckon its under warranty then you should refer back to where you bought it, but failing that, IME Hope are pretty good at dealing direct with end customers – give ’em a call/email?

The snapped off piece of axle is probably still lodged in the freehub bearings.

    Hope with GXP adaptors?
Or if money is no object, Sram blackbox GXP, which helpfully comes in red only.

Not an XC race then is it?

What is it called these days then, since (new)enduro nicked the term we used for the old Kona / Merida 100s etc? Is XC racing only the 2hr stuff?

    Marathon, surely?
    Or XCM if you prefer.

Can you take the wheel out and post up a picture from the other side of your mech?
Also from that picture it looks like the end of your qr skewer is on the wrong way round…

26″ v 650b will be low on a lot of people’s list of priorities – they’ll want something they can buy in a local shop at a certain price point that makes them feel good about their bike and ridign it.

Drivetrain generally wears out in this order Chain>Cassette>Chainrings.
Its almost certain that your cassette has worn with your old chain – have a look at the teeth, do they have flat tops or are they all pointy?
Also check your rear mech jockey wheels!

    Obvious troll is obvious.

You know that regular wheels are built in multiples of 4 right?
How many spokes did you “leave” out? 10.67?

Or did you get some 36 holers just to rebuild as 24’s?

avid ones normally need the stupid conical washers.

The spacing for tri-align washers is built into the caliper, not the adaptor. Avid adaptors are interchangable with shimano/formula/hope etc

Had a Merida 900 and a Giant Defy 4 (I think – last years entry level one) in work a few weeks back.
The Merida was over a kilo lighter.

Didnt the olympics put the lie to the performance effect of different standards, with a podium that had 26″, 29″, HT and FS on it?

    And a 650b…

There were nearly 60 riders in Sport at the recent Midlands XC – only 17 experts though.
But what got me was the 70 veteran riders! And they were faster than Masters! I turn 40 this year and had been hoping for an easier ride…
