I had a similar problem with my Countryman PHEV last year. Local dealer loaned me a 530e for three weeks.

    That definitely used more fuel.

I’m now feeling like a fool for not asking for a refund… Actually I’m not really 🤣

I’d also quite like to know the nationality of the alleged kind benefactor but no doubt it’ll remain one of life’s little mysteries.

    Nothing to see here: https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2022/sep/03/leave-eu-liquidation-brexit-arron-banks

Leave.EU quietly goes into liquidation. I wish I could borrow 7M and then have it written off…

8900kWh in electricity and 900kWh in gas for last 12 months but a hybrid car accounted for 3100kWh of the electricity usage.

I’m now wondering if it would be cheaper just to run the car on petrol!!! 🤣🤣🤣

I love both MTB and road!

In fairness I live in the Lakes so it could be argued most of the roads around here are more akin to mountain biking… 🤣

Filled in – thanks for heads up!

I work with US companies working in inches/PSI/fahrenheit so actually have a lot of experience of working with the two systems – it is a massive pain in the arse and confuses the hell out of apprentices.

I’d love to test the haunted pencil with some Oil and Gas specifications just to see how well he coped…

I’d be completely buggered if we went back to pounds, shillings and pence though 🤣

Best tensioner I ever had was a Paul Components Melvin – just had a look on eBay and bloody hell – they have seriously gone up in price!!! They do work really well though.

I’d definitely miss both the magazine and website – but that’s why I subscribe and buy stuff on occasion.

‘take what you want but pay for it’

I’m also a bit of a petrolhead and have just been reading the recent edition of Octane – another great magazine but wow – it has a HUGE number of ads!!! About a 1/3 of the mag is ads. I like that Singletrack isn’t.

Interestingly while its currently hot up in the Lakes, the water levels aren’t actually that low.
It hasn’t been a super dry summer up here in all honesty.

I bought a Gorilla one – a great bit of kit from my perspective and even better mine came unbranded.
I tried an alpkit one first – just couldn’t get a way with it – sizing was too small (and I normally love Alpkit gear)

    I’ve noticed too!

Which clearly means at least two of us are wrong… 🤣

Ernie’s view is that Starmer is as bad as Johnson – I don’t agree but the chances of anyone persuading the master debater is about zero I suspect.

I probably shouldn’t be enjoying this as much as I am:

    https://news.sky.com/story/nadine-dorries-retweet-branded-dangerous-by-mp-as-tory-leadership-campaign-gets-nasty-12662646

How much awareness must you lack to not understand why that particular image isn’t a great idea bearing in mind what happened to Sir David Amess?

No doubt I’m being ‘wilfully offended’ 🤣

    Well, this is nice: https://news.sky.com/story/boris-johnson-holding-farewell-party-at-grace-and-favour-country-estate-chequers-this-weekend-12653036

After all it was such a shame they had to cancel the wedding celebration…

And also allows him to avoid the tediousness of another COBRA meeting.

@uponthedowns – I was about to post the same thing – I think we were talking to the same people!
I was at the same show – albeit for the Advanced Materials bit – I has a wander around the battery expo for interest 😃

Its not storm damage – South Loop is closed for forestry operations:

    https://www.forestryengland.uk/article/whinlatter-forest-updates

In all honesty if you were riding in evening you could probably ride most of it.

North Red, South Red and Blue don’t actually take that long to ride in all honesty… It is definitely worth riding as part of a trip to the area though.

Centreparks for weekend – wife and son are bickering already 🤣 And that’s before we pick up daughter from school and then meet up with in-laws.

    Happy days!

Definitely read the manufacturers size guidance! I’m 6ft but ride a medium Canyon Lux Trail.

It fits me perfectly and there is no way I thought I’d ever ride a medium!

Interestingly the most critical review of the Lux trail was from a 5ft 10″ guy riding a large frame size…

Try to follow BillMC’s link above to the msn story – it has mysteriously disappeared…

Hopefully cheddar will be along soon to offer a perfectly rational ‘nothing to see here’ explanation 🤣

Luckily you can still find mention of it here: https://www.theneweuropean.co.uk/boris-johnson-wanted-to-give-carrie-symonds-a-100000-downing-street-role/

Plenty of bunting in village. Most people who live on our lane are having a little ‘street party’ tomorrow (including my wife and parents-in-law). I’ll be out on my bike.

Everyone happy with that arrangement 😁

Its nice and sunny up here at the moment so hopefully everyone will have a good time.

Nah – I reckon he’ll be fighting in a Ukranian steelworks ‘cos he’s nails hard.

Or maybe there is a more plausible reason for his current whereabouts. I’m sure he’ll probably be in the HoC tomorrow though…

    I use these:

Work well, relatively inexpensive. Battery life is 5-6 cuts before needing a recharge.

    Light relief in all honesty.

And the fact I can be amused by the antics of two ‘pseudo-celebs’ AND still be concerned about tories trashing my country AND by a Russian invasion of Ukraine AND the ongoing fallout of Brexit I have to deal with every single day in my job.

Stangely I can’t seem to raise any excitement about the prospect of Starmer and Rayner resigning and the thought of the tories/RW press ‘winning’ again.

I am one of those bastard centralists who spoils everything though.

In the ‘Nationalist’ north of Workington where I live Labour have just taken control of the new Cumberland council (doesn’t technically start until next year).

The Tories lost 14 seats with labour gaining 12! This is a big deal.

And I’m pretty confident it wouldn’t have happened if Corbyn had still been in charge of labour.

Sorry to all of his devotees but that’s just the way it is up here. And before anyone starts – I voted for Corbyn twice.

Maybe this won’t be replicated in the GE but its a bloody good start given my current MP is an ex-UKIP nobber (have a look at his Facebook/twitter feeds if you want to see how far from a ‘one-nation’ tory Jenkinson is!!!). At the minute I’ll take what I can get.

EDIT – possibly should have put the last three paragraphs in the Starmer thread… :)

Post Modern Jukebox – Watched them last night at the Usher Hall.

Properly entertaining evening – stunning singers and a band who can properly play!

Also first time I’ve been to a gig where the drummer does a tap dancing solo… 🤣
