Pace RC39’s on an ’09 DW Flux. Absolutely spot on from my point of view but will probably replace with 120mm forks when they finally die.

Yes – works really well (although in fairness I have only removed two crown races so can’t really vouch for long term use!).

I’m running an old Suntour XC Pro thumbshifter and an XT front mech with Gore Ride-On cables – really light action. Biggest difference with an old school thumbie would be moving the shift lever above the bars – not sure if this would help you though…

Good news for all the haters – there is an excellent program on BBC4 for you at the same time! All about ‘Europe’s fascination with Chinese pottery’…

Why not watch that and start a thread about how superior you all are? :D

    No problem.
Sefton is right too – definitely get one!

Approx. 80mm across the seatstay and approx. 75mm across the chainstay. Chainstay measurement is more approximate obviously due to asymmetry of rear triangle.

Silicone oil/grease will also be fine if you don’t have any mineral oil to hand.

I had the same problem (spending far too much that is!) with old Saabs – I ran a modified Saab Carlsson for 3 years – bought for £3k, spent £7.5K keeping it on the road (and in front tyres…) before sanity prevailed.

    Still miss it though.

Huws – Not sure where in the country you are – if you live anywhere near Carlisle, it may be worth giving these guys a call – http://www.mgmmotors-cumbria.co.uk/.
Alternatively Abbott Racing know Saabs inside out http://www.abbottracing.net/

Because the ‘recklessly bred’ will hopefully become tax paying members of society and pay for you in your retirement perhaps? :-)

    Check on Apple website –

Mine took seven weeks but on the plus side a nano 6 came back…

Just use whatever MTB system you currently have – some other riders might sneer at you a bit though…

In fairness my road bike is an old Ellsworth flight so I think the MTB pedals suit it :-)

RPRT – by the way you dodged the question I suspect my way of life probably has less impact than yours so I think it is you that has missed the point…

Easy to talk the talk though, eh. What are YOU personally doing?

RPRT – as it happens I tend to agree with you BUT I don’t pretend to be all holier than thou nor do I stereotype people by the car they drive…

FWIW I live a couple of miles away from my work and cycle in whenever possible. My total annual car mileage is around 6000 miles. I do like driving cars though.

I wonder how that compares with the hair shirt brigade on here… :-)

Brilliant comments as ever from Edukator!

I live in the Lakes – my Cooper S is great on our empty non-speed camera littered roads… Mountain biking is great here too!

But you are of course correct – my quality of life is just terrible…

We normally go a couple of times a year with family/friends. My kids are three and five and love it.
However a couple of caveats – we go outside school holidays because the costs are high otherwise and we’ve only ever visited Whinfell so I can’t comment on the other three.
If you hold on for a couple of minutes there will be a whole load of posts telling you how you can go abroad for the same price and that your bike will be nicked… :-)

I’ve done much the same thing on my Turner – seems to be holding up well so far.

Hmmm – mine has ‘by Ritchey’ on one side but GOCYCLE on the other (TORQKEY is embossed on stem). Maybe there are different kinds?
Mine definitely doesn’t need to be held in a vice!

The hex on mine just comes out if you pull it (held in by a magnet – not glued or pinned).

I don’t think THM was all that shocked… Just making a point that it seems ok to get all wound up about a pretty poor joke but no chorus of condemnation for a union official stirring up real hatred.

    Funny old world.

In fairness to John Rogers, he has apparently apologised though (just like Clarkson in fact :-))

New frame arrived within 48h, parts that I forgot to order with aforementioned new frame within 24h, so no, from my perspective CRC are great (admittedly I didn’t trust them with my credit card details :))

If it is a mineral oil system use nitrile (or fluorocarbon). Basically just don’t use ethylene-propylene (commonly EP).

As a counterpoint to the doom and gloom – both my son and daughter were born at home – no complications and a very stress free experience (well as stress free as births are anyway…). Two midwifes were present for both births.
That said the community midwife set up where we live is very good (Allerdale) and they will always ere on the side of caution – basically if you are in a high risk group, the option simply isn’t encouraged.

I had a look around it last year. Alan (the guy who built it) had a charity ‘open’ night – really interesting building and a clever concept.
Personally I rather like it but I can see why people might decide it looks like an office building…

+1 – Much appreciated for that PSA – as Tracker says it’ll be interesting to see what comes back…

My son learned on a Ridgeback scoot balance bike and my daughter is learning on the same bike (albeit with some additional pink stickers…) – but from seeing friends kids learning on bikes with stabilisers I honestly don’t think it makes any difference!
Both my son and his friend the same age started riding ‘normal’ bikes at exactly the same time.
For what its worth I’d say it is more important that the bike fits properly so in your case go with the stabilisers.

    Have a look at these:

    http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=48105

I run one with a 44t Middleburn outer which contrary to the reviews on CRC works fine…

Mine faded in exactly the same way (mainly riding in the Lakes) – fixed by fitting a bigger rotor (and ditching my obsession with trying to save a few grams…).
No vibration problem on mine with the bigger rotor (but obviously the frame has a lot to do with this).
If the organic pads don’t work, it probably wouldn’t work out too expensive to buy a +20mm adaptor and a 160 disc.

Have a look at the Osprey Flapjack. I use one for commuting (easily holds a laptop plus sarnies etc). Outside pocket is on the end but easily accesible. Not made in the UK though…
I got mine (in black) from:

    http://www.tauntonleisure.com/osprey-flap-jack-courier-pepper/p6641

Personally I think the black looks best but take your point re visibility!
