    drain or oven cleaner..
as I learned it`s most important to stop the process as soon as the colour is gone..so the surface is bright and shiny..if exposed too long it gets dull and (depending of the ali ) rough…

    and for a new colour..

    I wouldn`t riding with a cold anymore… …especially not with a sore throat…
some years ago a mate didn`care about a sore throat and feeling weak…..he just went on with riding and running..
seemed not too serious..but lasted a while..
at the end he spent some time in hospital with pericardial inflammation..
    for me…lesson learned

was wondering seeing their new “concept” at the eurobike…
during the last years, changings and progression of their frames were for me always well thought, carefull and ..in a positive way..slow..
this year everything seemed a bit strained and confused..lots of charts,..arguing..explaining and even wheelbarrows to convince the people from their new system…

    +1 as theethgrinder said…

    I ride 26″ and 29″….horses for courses…like both wheelsizes..just for different trails/tasks..
definitely don`t need or want 650B(ullsh…)..
but don`t care about even more wheelsizes..
as long as I have the choice..
    (at least for a while..)
    and thats the point..

Your backpack is on your back

No always it’s not. Fixing punctures, stopping to admire the stars, even just getting it on in the first place sounds like a faff. But I’ve never tried so could be totally overestimating the hassle.

    thats so true…
ride since years with an old lupine wilma and battery bottle in my backpack..
still forget to disconnect now and then…
otherwise..if it is really cold..the abyss of the backpack is a good place for batteries…

    nearly…
I had two cane creak headsets which failed…
    never serviced my king…
only when installing in a new frame.. :-)

yep..but to solve this problem there are the grip lock conversion sets..
bought them from bike components in germany for my really old king headsets last year (28.- euros)…. perfect with 160mm forks..

    differences are…
    pike 160mm, 26″ to 27.5″
    AC is 10mm more, 542mm to 552mm
    offset is 2mm more, 40mm to 42mm
    thought about the same..
while definitely remaining on 26″ wheels…

it`s even worse for the oldschool 26″ fans…

all 2014 bikes will be in 27.5 except the ION 16, complete techsheets will be available after eurobike show..

the helius TB comes in 27.5 size s only , bigger sizes are 29, 142×12 rear axle..
the helius AC comes in 27,5 , 142×12 rear axle, postmount standard for the rear brake..
ION 16 remains 26 but on request as 27.5
the argon FAT shown in the second post is a limited edition of 60 frames..(and the surly tyres are 3.8…)

the only question is if there will be any extra charges for ordering a 26`version…

    accu

    you`re right !…the tech sheet says 2013…
    still hoping they offer both..

    accu
    Free Member

seems that the helius TB is still 26`..at least the chain stay length of 426mm proves it..
the argon may have 26`rims..but with an surly 3.0 tyre its a 27.5
chainstay is 440mm as with all the other 27.5`frames..
but I think they will make you a 26´ helius without the taylor made pricetag…hope so..

it happened some years ago..and CFK frames are now surely much better..
    but..
while riding a slow section in rocky, technical terrain I hit a rock with the downtube of my votec C9..
this caused a minor damage to the carbon, nothing serious…talked to the company and lbs ..all guaranteed that this will not cause any problems…
one year later there was a crack starting from this little mark..frame destroyed..

mattig, real difference is just the tyre width and seatpost diameter..
    geo is exactly the same..
the limited SJ frames have a different joke/BB solution that means you can`t run a broad tyre (2.4) with the wheelbase adjustement in the shortest position…
and most of the SJ frames spec a 27.2 seatpost..but some are reamed to 30.9..for a dropper post..
the QH has 31.6 seatpost diameter and 2.4 tyres fit with sliders in the shortest position..

and for me , both have a real “steel feel” ride…
just switching from an SJ frame to QH…but really liked the flex of a long 27,2 seatpost on my SJ..

too late with my post… :-)

looks to me more like 650b stuff isn’t available, rather than 26er stuff being hard to find.

..but you won`t be able anymore to buy a new 26″ orange five frame or a new 26″ SC heckler frame next months…..

    some days old but..
the spokemagazin article in this thread explains it all…

IMO the 650b just isn’t vastly different enough for us all to think “now that’s a great idea’ and I think that’s the point most people struggle with.

just measured my five, new geo, size 18″,with pike forks…
reach is about 416mm, ..(and stack 580mm )
checked my QH to proof my measurement method and it seems to be quite exact..

gotama…had an MK1 alpine (loved it, looking forward to the MK3) and have an orange five, 18″…(2009 model, new geo)
so..later this evening I can check the reach of the five if this helps..
