yep..I know it, rode one from `90 to ´94….
for the time back then ! it was fantastic…but not especially for the trials…
geo was something like 70/70, heavy tubing, 0 degrees, 130mm “frank the welder stem”, onza porcupines….bullseye components (which were a nightmare..)
for trials look for the very rare “yeti treefrog” …a special trials frame for 24 wheels….

    northwind ..totally agree

but..took me quite a while to get “suited” to the ragley geo…

rode a stiffee for a long time, and now a pig..
the cove/ragley geo is quite different,
    a completely different ride…
no experiences with the cotic..but really like the bfe..

the stiffee frame gets a rest right now, hanging on the wall, will be rebuild some day…still one of the best AM/HTs for me..

me too….I have still my first pike (coil u-turn) from 2005, heavily abused but in perfect condition ….a year ago I bought the air u-turn version, but didn`t like it for personal preference..
    converting was not possible ..
so I swapped it for another coil u-turn…

really would like to order one…but…
I learned it ..messiah is right !

some time ago I tried to convert a AIR U-TURN into COIL U-TURN and it was not possible…
the lowers arent the prob…the AIR uppers are missing the groove to fix the snap-ring which holds the COIL spring base plate….so…no way…

maybe newer ones are different….so its worth to check before…

I used to ride my heckler with a pike, to slacken the HA I changed to a marzocchi all mountain 2..HA was fine then..but climbing was rubbish…
the heckler is a very good frame no question, especially with the "new" price…but with 2 degrees difference on the angles it just rides different in comparison to the five…

had a heckler for three years and really liked it…but always felt that I would prefer a slacker head angle…
for this reason I sold it and bought an 2010 orange five (frame)..
    fantastic !!
rides really different with the slacker HA and steeper SA…
    love it!!

    and so far..I don`t miss the bottle opener…. :D

I am really happy with the hope, have two steel BB`s and even without cleaning they are fine after a long winter…

two years ago a mate of mine went over the handlebar in a very steep rocky switchback/steps section and got really good protection from his hydration backpack while landing on the back …his camera was smashed (was in the main compartment of his camelbak)..but he was just fine .. and tried it again later…

used to wear my dainese full safety jacket but only for DH uplift..for myself it is just too much for anything else…in the sense like jedi wrote…overheating, fatigue causing…

andy…maybe its best to use CC..

but …not long ago a friend of mine bought his DB alpine MK2 by using the cross boarder SWIFT payment, he added 2 pounds to cover currency changings and sent euros ! to mike, mike received pounds….the charge for that was 50,- cent ( half euro!!) the same charge as for any other transfer he does in germany..NO!! other charges, not for converting ..nothing !
cheaper than CC and no CC charges for mike !!

    did it often..

there is an EU reg. that there is no currency converting charge allowed for cross boarder SWIFT payments within the EU ..

I always added 1 or 2 pounds (or euros , the other way…)to cover up currency changings while sending the transfer..

bank charges for transfers are another subject and are individual, but using my CC I also have to pay a charge for feoreign use..
    whatever is best or cheaper

check with an internet currency converter, how many pounds you have to send for the euro amount—and make the bank transfer in pounds !!— the german company receives the money in euros, this way there is no! charge for converting…

    alutech-bikes.de
a one-man-show ..nearly…, handmade in germany,..longer toptube, shorter headtube..whatever, as long as it makes sense, jürgen will weld it…

2soulscycles.com ..just one steelframe so far, the "41.5"..with a unusual geo…

just to add a few -interesting- ones…

b r … the stuff in my backpack is quite similar to yours….just added a small petzl head torch (led)…very useful if you got lost, or in case of an emergency….as I learned riding alone in the swiss alps last september…. no emergency, I just took one wrong turn on my way back to the rhone valley and had to seek my way home in the dark..

rusty…best description for me, took me a quite a while until I got used to the lower front , higher bb…I prefer also the high/light front ends to pop&roll over stuff—-but otherwise due to this the pig climbs fantastic….
have an 18, with pike coil, magura louise fr, dt swiss 440 hubs, 5.1 rims, hone cranks, thomson post and heavy flats, ……31.7lbs …
would like to go for the ti…..
really like my pig…but still have an issue with not holding the seatpost properly…

interesting question……I still ride my funn rizer bar, which I bought 2004..still looks fine after years of heavily (ab)use…
    but !!
some years ago I crashed because of a broken stem…the clamp for the bar broke (it was an older 2 bolt clamp, and broke direct on the upper bolt)…
so I think its better to buy a new bar, as long as CRC has the funn rizers on sale ..

had the same problem with the lion (bottle) battery of my "nightmare"….
I asked lupine and they told me to try this…..charge full and then discharge with the light ! (not the charger..) until the battery is totally !!! empty..3 times/cycles …if there is any chance it will refresh the battery..
for me it worked fine..so another year of riding with my old set..
