The connector is not compatible with the larger XML model (this one).

The mini has Slightly larger plug.

So would you drive to Sherwood or Gotham and start a ride from there or ride from your doorstep? It can be done but for many would involve some mileage to get there.

Just got back from testing my latest purchase. New 1800Lm CREE XM-L T6 LED from ebay. Its smaller / lighter than last years popular DX chinese XML
Same 3 modes high-med-flash but the medium is brighter and usable
The one I got has a much better beam pattern than the spotty larger ones
£23 inc p&p and arrived in 10 days from China
I can’t see why you’d need more light than one of these on the bars and another on the helmet unless you’re in an arms race with your friends.

That Lightmalls 3x XML. Wouldn’t it be more efficient to run all 3 leds at 1/3 2/3 and full power rather then having the modes 1,2 and 3 LEDs on?

V8 copies are a bit chunky and although cheaper I find they roll more easily under the feet than slimmer pedals. I use v8 copies on the commuter bike and outlands on the MTB. The Outland Kustom Slims are also a few grammes lighter than the V8 copies.

OUTLAND KUSTOM SLIM £16 on ebay ball bearing. the sealed bearing/du bush ones are a bit more. About the same dimensions as wellgo mg1 but convex and heavier

I taped a piece of inner tube to the chainstay with insulation tape and a small piece of sheet steel bent to shape in the chain suck area (tape underneath and on top).

I just got BBB BDP02 for a 9 speed deore shadow mech. They’re 9/10 speed 11t. I’ve had them before on other bikes and they work properly and last ages.

The key is supposedly the little valve fittings

The ones on ebay for 7.75 have a hex nut on the end and it doesn’t fit inside the lever end recess and so doesn’t seal. It can be got around by adding a second 0 ring. The ones for a tenner have slimmer ends that would fit inside the lever and seal.

Otherwise the cheap ones seem to work as well as the Avid.

Is it the lack of a helmet that makes cycling more dangerous or is the design of roads and attitude of the road users? If you get run over by a lorry a helmet isn’t really going to make a bit of difference to the outcome. We should be looking at the cause of the problem rather than trying to mitigate it with a piece of polystyrene.

I got one of those cheap bleed kits off ebay and it didn’t seal against the lever end until I added a second o ring. The proper avid bleed kit worked OK without modification.

    Comparison

I wouldn’t be bothered about the lack of electronic compass or barometer but the lack of an SD card slot could be a bit limiting. You could load the Talky Toaster open source maps on the 850Mb built in memory of the Oregon 10 but the GB discoverer is about 3Gb for full coverage or 1.5Gb for a region so as you said it wouldn’t fit.

Have you looked at the etrex 20? The touch screen of the Oregon makes the display a bit dimmer than the older Legend models. I Don’t know what the user interface is like on the etrex 20 but it’s worth a look.

I got the Raleigh urban 2 for about 200 a year ago and it’s been OK except it turned up with part of the headset missing. Wiggle took about a month to send a replacement headset. Commuting on it daily in all weather and I’ve been to the pub on it a few times and it hasn’t been nicked yet. 15″ is a small frame. I’m 6′ with a 21″.

    Here’s another one.
    MCN chain test
Chains are OK for the shed or garage as you normally need something long to secure to a ground anchor but chains can be cropped and a 10mm chain and lock weighs significantly more than an 18mm U lock. For a portable lock It’s got to be a U

I’m not sure 25k would be any better than 50k on the small screen these things have. At 25k zoom you will only be able to see a small area. You can create custom maps using MOBAC but the recent versions no longer do OS maps. Custom maps are limited in the area of coverage so good for something like a trail centre map but not much good for larger areas.

Yes I’ve just got a Malt 3 frame. Transplanted my old bits including a 120mm fork. It weighs about 1823 grammes for a 19″ and came with a FSA headset. I immediately felt at home on it and consider it money well spent. The only criticism I could level at it is limited rear tyre clearance (2.1 is as big as would be sensible) and the ride feels a bit harsher than my carbon hardtail. I think some of the Merlin frames are made by Kinesis but not the Malt 3. It has a logo stamped on it that looks somehing like 1B. I don’t have any photo’s but it’s the same as the one in the link but black.

This contradicts some of the advice above. The suggestion is that if your body gets used to burning fat during exersise it will work hard to replace the fat.

You shouldn’t need a crank extractor. It has an aluminium top cap with a 10mm hex key. Leave that in place. Then an aluminium screw with an 8mm Hex key beneath. You should remove it my unscrewing the 8mm hex against the top cap which works as a puller. If you do remove the aluminium screws also remember to remove the steel washer because that will stop you from getting your crank extractor to push against the shaft.

Try it again with the washer removed and you may have enough thread left to pull it off. Failing that, boiling water and hitting.

    Dakota 20

20 has a micro SD card for the maps the 10 has internal memory only. It will work with the OSM maps and you can get small custom maps from Mobile atlas creator[/url] but the GB discoverer 50k is better

I don’t know anything about SPOT but if you need to log into it to see the track then that could explain why you can see it bit people without accounts cant.

If you have a GPX file and your own web space then the following is an easy way of sharing a map

Do a search in google maps for gisburn forest
Click the red marker and select more and send
Connect your satnav to your computer with a usb cable
click GPS and then send and the location will be saved to your GPS

(you may need to install a plugin the first time)
