Not a lot you can do.

    There’s narrow minded **** everywhere.

Next time you have a rr, put a sign up saying “throw used energy gels here”

I had one, but, didn’t get on with it. So sold it and bought a Salsa A la carte.

    Much nicer imo.

The R8 ws a bit bland, didn’t respond to my input in the way I hoped.

Weight of my 19″ frame was 5 pounds something.

    Am doing it.

No training, in fact, have only ridden 30 miles in the last 3 weeks.

Who fancies a pootle around the course on Friday afternoon?

Quick release front rack in wood and steel, like a pdw or the one on the salsa fargo (is it the fargo?).

It would be cool when taking the bike to the shops, but easy to take off round the singletrack

It’s a common complaint for a single September intake, the summer born kids a so young compared to kids who can be almost 5. On the other hand, where kids join in the Spring term or Summer term it can be difficult to break into established social groups.

There’s always gonna be folk who complain.

wrightyson. you are kind of right, a child is not of compulsary school age until the term after the fifth birthday, so they legally don’t have to be in school.

the school can organise how they like, although the children have to be full time by census day if they want the money……

Tubeless on the road, Why bother, the tyres are heavier than clinchers, there is virtually no choice of tyres and it’s way more faff when you do get a puncture. tubeless on the road is such a half assed idea, either man up and run tubs or stick to clinchers.

    Hang on, I’m confused.

    1. You have a job working for the police investing a newspaper.
    2. You now have a job working for the newspaper. Have quit the police.

I see nothing unusual or underhand here.

And they (well another company with a similar name) did jeans didn’t they. Sponsored an Italian team. Can’t remember their big name rider. Early Pantani?

    Claudio Chiappucci?

Yeah, and Stephen Roche. And Pantani.

The jeans company were (are) Carrera. If I remember correctly, thats exactly why the bikes have the same name – as a sponsorship thing. The two guys who began the bike company at the time that the bikes were being used in the peloton needed a name.

a lot of sense is being said here, carbon is way overrated imo.

My aluminium de rosa is a joy to ride, stiff in the right way, lightish, not scared of the rough stuff, basically its the best road bike i’ve ever owned. a good modern ali bike is a completely thing to those of 10 years ago.

BMC’s aren;t the last word in stiffness. reasonably built, reasonably light but flexy and, cervelo’s are master’s in pr but i find their frames slightly above average, not exceptional considering the price, certainly no better than a madone.

if it were my money i’d be looking at time, but have looked at parlee in the past. it would be a keeper, a cervelo is merely a short term relationship!

In response to the op. I’d say yes, last year i did 2 organised rides, one road sportif (melton cicleclassic) and 1 mtb event (singlespeed euros).

The road sportif had an awful lot of ‘look at me’ twunts including one fella in full astana kit and overshoes. it’s frickin june, mate!! IMO at lot of the participants aint real cyclists, just scenesters, if the next big thing is ultimate frisby then a lot of them will be there instead.

The singlespeed thing was a really enjoyable weekend, people riding many diferent piles of crap. I didn’t see many egos at all.

    And I’m a roadie……….. 😆

I have a helios 14. Build wise its awesome BUT it’s a wierd shape in that it narrows in the middle so you cant use all of the space at the bottom, a couple of mates who have the newer hydration packs complain of a similar thing.

What stoner said, we’ve been really happy with our croozer (the 2010 light blue version). The canvas seat offers a bit of give for the little one when doing light off roading. The ability to take the bike hitch off and then use it as a stroller has been excellent, something we’ve used a lot. The storage is good also for baby bag and enough other crap for a half day out!

i recently borrowed a niner emd for a week(ish). On my regular ride through a little bit of double track and a lot of twisty singletrack it seemed a lot quicker than my 26″ bike. the stopwatch said slower however. whats that all about?

I commute on the A50. A dual carrigeway. I feel seafer on that than on the parallel minor roads where folk drive at 70mph+ but the road is a LOT narrower.

My worst accident was on the cyclepath at the side of the dual (separate) when some **** knocked me off in his van. NOT on the road.
