I had an eccentric eno with fixed/free option so I thought i might as well. Although i kind of enjoyed it, i never rode technical trails fixed, and what i did ride i rode it slower (i think). I probably wouldn’t do it again,

those trails do look pretty nice, certainly different to muddy, twisty woodland round here.

It looks like the sort of place b.a. hannibal, face of murdoch would be lying in wait!

    Veggie kids?
Tantamount to child abuse, and your laziness is
    no excuse for poor parenting.

Lol. One of my best mates, a veggie, reckons me feeding my kids meat is tantamount to giving them heroin! Once they taste flesh they can never give it up.

ladders, i’ve considered crudguards but i’m not convinced, then considered them again.
i’m pretty sure there’s not enough clearance for proper guards.
de rosa have now given us all the opportunity to buy a lovely frame, with guard mounts at a great price. **1st world problem**

i admire anyone who can make a cold decision to sell.

I love the old bike (it’s a bonty). but if i ever rode it at mayhem etc i’d fall off about 10 times a lap, every downhill really.

    sam.

    i prefer being secretary to a race organiser…moaning competitors…nothing ever right…

the constitution of the club would potentially be an issue as different people have different requirements. there’d have to be an agreed vision. but, being singlespeeders i’d expect a easygoing attitude.

ssuk or ssec could host the agm ovr a pint! 😀

no. That is the answer. You can be quick but a rider with the same strength will be faster with gears. Testing on a fixed isnt a problem but in road racing there’s lots of pace changing which youd struggle to match on a fixed wheel.

charlie, it’s a great idea. To register an unsponsored club will cost c£90. At £5 a head that will be 14 riders needed to cover costs. That should be easily reached. From that point, club members have the club through which to organise and have access to liability insurance (Although i think this is an extra cost). The marco polo team has previously worked on this informal level. You pays your subs, you can race for the team.

I would be happy to volunteer for secretary/membership secretary.

    its gone all bikeradar….

    too true.

before future publishing ate up the cycling plus forum into bike radar it had loads of interesting characters who added value and thought into debates, now it;s sanitized shite. i imagine it’s popular with 16 year olds.

it’s be rubbish if stw went to same bland way.

    hugglescote here,

i’m in total agreement with the comments above, overt building is only going to cause resistance in the local community. i do think that a forum/dialogue with landowners/lcc could be a good idea.

i work for lcc and know a few of the rangers, we share an office, (who know i ride in the area). i have raised the ‘issue’ of cheeky riding and whether there would be any la support for organised trails.

funding, or lack of, seems to be a main barrier along with the issue of ssi areas being damaged.

it has been suggested that out of hours riding, where only bracken is being disturbed wouldn’t be challanged.

if we expect landowners to be reasonable regarding access, we need to be reasonable once we;re on the land.

    whatever, i will remain cheeky.

technically the rules of the day didn’t include blood transfusions, taking epo, hgh, etc. So, he’s the best cheating (or the rider whi best responded to drugs) tdf rider ever

unless i’ve read it wrong, or am being really thick.

the federal court found usada’s arbitration process robust, surely if any part of the accusations were ‘poorly supported’ in either basis or in due protocol they would have been chucked out. But they weren’t.

i’m not an armstrong fan, but, removing him from first position is not actually feasible imo.

    who subsequently gets the win?
    zulle? nope
escartin? no positive i heard of
    ullrich? no
    beloki? no

etc, etc, all through the early 2000’s era the top 10 was littered with dopers (which is why i always thought he was cheating)*. It would be nigh on impossible to filter through all the results to find the first clean rider. There’s also the problem with the prize money, subsequent sponsorship deals, etc, etc.

I think we have to draw a line, accept that it was a filthy cheating time, that armstrong is a cheat*, but, that his drug fuelled performances* were better than others’ drug fuelled performances

unless the wins are awarded to david moncoutie!

    or denis menchov.

*not that he WAS cheating, he was obviously so superior! 😮

firstly, i am an arsenal fan.

Fair play to rvp, he’s served arsenal well. For a player with 1 season left it’s a fair price. If he wins man u a title, fair play. It’ll be money well spent. If he flops, like a lot of arsenal explayers, it’ll be great business for arsene, only time will tell. Better them than those gold digging bastards across the city (i hope they do a blackburn).

One thing will happen though, we will have someone who performs just as well. So, we wont miss him.
