I don’t care for their looks, yours isn’t an overly pretty example.

So yes, it’s hideous. You did ask!

Much more importantly, a) there’s not enough mud on it, and b) do you like the way it rides?

    Wot ap said ^^^^.

Call Hope, but you’ll be lucky unless the freehub bodies are available in the ‘old’ spline pattern and backwards compatible if you can find one.

    It’s gonna get expensive!

There’s a Pro2 axle converter (24mm) on ebay atm, I’ve got one, straight swap. Maverick forks are very very good IMHO too.

And I’m not selling anything…

    Don’t forget import duty….

Also do those flat looking rings give the correct chainline? My Middleburn UNO setup runs fairly close to the chainstay on some frames. Close enough that the Ti ring looks like it could rub…

    Another amusing STW thread!

so I suppose forces are quite high and with a fair bit of shock loading.

Don’t stick it unless you are a trained person with aircraft grade materials. It will break.

    Why not weld?

Silca ,mine is about 20 years old

My original is only about 15, so just run in. The bees knees. For some reason I bought one of these off highonbikes on ebay:

Unnecessary really, but it’s always nice to have a spare.

It’s more like 14% when you take Paypal into account and has been for a long time.

I’ve E-bayed alot in the last two years, as far as I can remember they were never as high as 10% obviously you must be an expert in life

More so than you it would seem

If i were you I’d sell on here and advertise at a reasonable[/i] price to start with. And don’t forget to make a donation now and again!

I use a powerlink so chain off in about 5 secs, soak it in a half full jar of Hyperclean for about 10 mins while cleaning the rest of my bike.

I then rinse in soapy water then running water and allow to dry. Slap it back on and oil the links individually. Too much oil just picks up too much dirt.

Clean the powerlink seperately as suggested above.

Hands on time about 3 mins.

milkybar’s is the ugliest bike pic I’ve seen for a while:

It looks like the plastic frame has been stood in the blazing sun all day and then ridden into a wall by a 25 stone monster….

Mate of mine’s got a SS Inbred. I’ve ridden it a few times. It’s OK.

It’s like my Inbred, but mine has gears; aside from that there’s not much difference (apart from my forks are betterer).

Apart from the weight and the complexity. Losing cables in the winter is a godsend….

If I get tired, I can change gear. If he gets tired, he can’t.
If I want to ride mine SS, I just don’t change gear. If he wants to ride his geared, he can’t.

That is the point! Different riding style, you have to attack short climbs, carry your speed more, think a bit more….

His chain falls off sometimes. I can’t remember the last time that happened on any of my bikes although he has less bits to go wrong/maintain

There something wrong with his set up! And less bits = much quicker cleaning, less faffing and less expense.

    FIFY

If it helps, I’ve got the same problem. Bought a ‘J’ mount (I think) for a 180mm and the effing rotor went nowhere near it.

I put the 160 back on and went riding instead….

Thanks for this Chris, strong words, much appreciated. No e-mail btw.

I got your money in my account on the 24th, around the time of a significant event…

I also see you didn’t see fit to tell everyone about the seatpost clamp that took you completely forgot about and took weeks to send to me  , which has a certain irony

It’s Christmas, (yes, really!) the post is slow, I may not have had a chance to get it off to you straight away.

Calm down dear, it’s only a seatpost!

A mate of mine did an IM (Lanzarote) on NO TRAINING! More than once in fact, as he did Sherbourne the previous year! I’m not sure how much he enjoyed it, and doing it for 14 hrs, but you sound like you’ve got it in the bag

I do a 48 mile round trip on my fixed Bob Jackson. Been doing it for years, route isn’t massively hilly but I love the simplicity and efficiency of the set up. As a bonus it’s very quiet :-)

Plus you can ditch your rear brake.

So the next step has been to ‘fix’ the 69er… watch this space! Can do a mostly offroad commute…

On a serious note, you’ll get massive legs too!

Thomson laybacks are ugly and I had one that creaked endlessly. If you could put up with Ti then the Van Nicholas ‘Moots-a-like’ post looks sweet and is noticably more comfortable:

Floating rotors can come loose on their mounts, one piece rotors don’t have that problem.

Yeah, f*ck it, it’s a week old, it is about time it learnt it can’t have attention all the time.

That’s not what I said old boy, give a baby attention when it suits you and when it is genuinely needed. That is not 30 mins after you’ve put them to bed. Of course you need to check the nappy / safety situation but after that a quick hug and lay them back down.

Would you rather have a less demanding baby? I know I would. Giving a baby attention 24/7 does neither of you any good.

    Take a tip:

Train the baby or it will train you.

They are that manipulative. Reassure, then put her back to bed. Keep going, don’t give in!

A routine is paramount, and wind down to bedtime.

I wouldn’t let a baby in the bed either, but I guess that’s a personal choice. Our kids are balanced, have well rounded personalties and have no issues. They know we love them deeply but you have choices. Life can be exhausting with new born and the easy option isn’t always the best.
