I’ve done a fair bit of riding at Calshot. You will need to complete a two session intro before they let you loose, if you’re a track virgin.

It is quite tight, quite technical in groups, and very physical at speed. And whatever you do don’t crash! (There’s sand mixed in the varnish to aid grip in the cold and damp)

But I guarantee you’ll be grinning from ear to ear after a 2 hour training session!

It’s not right, so just take it apart and put it back together again. That’s the price of gaining ‘experience’ !

There’s a pair of Middleburn 180’s on eBay, not mine but I can highly recommend them. All you need is a nice Royce bb to go with them….

Personally I don’t sh1t myself when I ride, and I like my ghey orange and blue MT500 pad. Long may it continue that way  , sphincter control is the preserve of the young….

That photo of the guy on the Voodoo is reversed innit?

richpips is doing the 3 peaks fixed, btw, as Samuri did a few years ago.

Don’t think so, the front brake is still on the correct side…. you can do drive side left with a fixie.

And it is lots of fun, can’t wait for it to get proper muddy!

The downside is the mudshelf they’ve cunningly built into the seatstays….

Velosolo rear cog and what andyl said. Great fun, if a little different. Lose the rear brake, it’s a whole new way to ride. My preferred set up for winter ;-)

This for best supercar and best classic car. Ferrari don’t always get it right but they hit the jackpot with the F40:

My lurcher is slowing down a bit now (he’s 12). A world champion eater and sleeper, he can do distances walking, certainly farther than I can. In his heyday (age 3 – 10) he was great company on the s/s too.

If you want a biking dog get something bred for a similar purpose, possibly Dalmation. Otherwise I can highly recommend a lurcher as a child friendly, relaxed but energetic dog. I’d have another, definitely  .

Sounds like the lurcher/dalmation cross up there ^^ could be good!

    ^^^^^ nice balanced reasoning!

Are SRAM derailleurs really that bad ?

XO here, it’s fantastic kit. Consistent accurate gear changes. Totally reliable. And I think it looks spiffy.

Titanium bikes have a bad habit of doing this. I lost my faith in Ti a while ago.

Stripped it down and all I can find is that the top tube/ seat tube weld may be lifting underneath

    How? Have you got pics?

You could get it crack detected. A mate had a Litespeed that came apart (at the headtube!) and they gave him a new one under warranty. I understand you can repair Ti frames, but you’d have to check with VN in the first instance once you determine if it is broken.

    ^^^^???

Just to provide some balance, I’ve been using Middleburn square taper for years, mated with Royce Ti bb’s Absolutley no issues whatsovever.

They are strong, light and look stunning. You get what you pay for.

Thumbs up for clickfast from me, I have one pair of 8 panel which are just a bit nicer to wear than the 6 panel. Not much in it though…

Crikey, I agree with TJ! It’s damn good stuff, reliable, servicable and you can get spares if you need them.

You never met Bingo. Crackers and a real character.

MTFU and get rid of it before it bites your sons face off.

You are supposed to be the boss, followed by your missus, followed by your kids. The dog is at the bottom of the pile. It’s the only way.

Cute dogs do not make good pets unless they are treated correctly and know where their place is. Yours is showing signs of being anxious and trying to establish himself up the pecking order. And it’s probably too late to do anything with him.

Go there. You won’t regret it. There is a road that comes from the reservoir above Bourg in around hairpin 5 ish. Park up as high as you can and either walk in or cycle. It is an amamzing experience. And get there early for a good spot

SRAM is garbage full stop. That includes their chains. For chains you cant beat KMC.

For an alternative view, I’ve been running SRAM chains for years and never had a problem

You offered something for sale, someone made an offer.

If you don’t like it say no, thankyou. They may even make another offer, but nothing has been lost by being polite.

    What’s your point again 8O ?

As usual I disagree totally with TJ. If you’re going to be sat down pedalling for long periods I would advise Assos. It works for me. Including 9 hours in the saddle on La Marmotte.

I also use it for my 22 mile fixed commute. Just makes getting to the end of the week easier ;-)

Homebrew is an interesting concept, but don’t use Sudocreme. It definitely doesn’t workfor me.

No problem with that, but if i had a horse and was riding it on public paths, i would train the creature to not be scared of things like bikes, cars etc

I’ve got one, it’s really basic but you’ll learn to love it. The battery lasts forever, you can take it out ridinng in really poor weather, get it muddy, drop it at will and submerse in your pint of beer if you want.

The very best bit is the JCB digger ringtone, it’s the most effective alarm ever :D.

Don’t get it if you need to do the one-upmanship with technology thing, it looks like it came out a christmas cracker!

69er – if you are ever riding near me, drop by and I will show you your lame seatpost flex (wouldn’t you at least like to know what diameter it is?!) by at least an inch (have done it before so know I’m not talking utter rubbish).. you can then fight me if you want, I’m not scared of big guys with such fat arses they can’t even feel their saddles swaying around under them.

OK, you win, you obviously know how wobbly my arse is and how much my (lame) seatpost flexes. Could you let me know next weeks Lottery numbers as well please?

You really are taking yourself and this thread too seriously  !

BTW your maths is poor too:

    Agreed
FYI 12.6mm each side of centre = an inch of flex

No, it doesn’t. You need half of 25.4mm flex either side which is 12.7mm FYI![/i] Besides which it’ll only flex rearwards under load so you’d need the full 25.2 25.4mm in one direction to prove your statement correct.

Great fun though, thankyou. If you’re riding near Southampton anytime soon e-mail me, we’re better off riding bikes and drinking beer than arguing in here

Utter rubbish. I reckon a mm or two either way, riding like an unco-ordinated fool

…and I’m 17&1/2 stone, 6’4″ so plenty of post showing. We can easily resolve this – fancy a fight?

USE XCR used here occasionally, but over a long period. A great piece of kit, handy for talking the sting out if you’re going hard and long….your back will love you! In the end the keys will wear but it’s simple to service and parts are easily sourced.

I’ve also got a VN Ti post which has nothing like[/u][/i] an inch of ‘travel’, but is a good Moots copy… I try to convince myself it’s softening the ride.

    wwaswas
get a van-nic Ti post – inch or so of suspension and nothing to go wrong.

    GW
never understood suspension seatposts Saddle height changing all the time while sat down pedalling or even worse swaying back and forth (thudbuster) eeewww!! No thanks! I’ll just stick with my knees and standing up to deal with rough ground.

<EDIT? Ti posts flex is awful too

is somebody handing out free ‘medication’ round here :D ? Bizarre….!

Don’t particularly like Shimano, but the kit works, obviously. Have got SRAM on the 69er and it too works well. What was your point again?
