Feel free to make an offer if it's something you want. Otherwise, chill!

acjim – I use an old pair of Madison lined fleece gloves. They're a bit shagged but I think they originally had a goretex type lining between two fleece layers. Cold and wet use only but they are fantastic gloves.

As for dealing with irate road users, be nice. It's disarming and relaxing. No stress. You're onto a winner commuting by bike, it'll really pee them off if you don't get wound up

I have a 45 mile round trip, which I do throughout the year.

I can't be arsed with mudguards (I can wash and dry my clothes at both ends of my journey) , I have a fixed gear Bob Jackson (rinse off, GT85, done!). My tips:
    1) Quality clothing + glasses
    2) Overshoes
    3) Waterproof gloves
    4) Cheap tyres, rubinos are ok, let some pressure out when it's wet
    5) Get some good lights + Sam Brown belt
    6) Always ride You'll get used to it very quickly!

BTW – It's still summer out there! It's one layer of lycra + gilet weather… :-)

The 27th is the only date I can't make. My son's birthday and he's off to Uni…

You want to live near the New forest and own a Landy with a mate who has a chainsaw. Free fuel forever!

Chevin – love the sheer determination but no the 2010 paint scheme is MINGING 8O

Would the cyclescheme thing work if you paid £1000 for the bike and £300 cash for one of the valve caps f'rinstance?

They finance upto a grand and all the shops locally are happy for you to top up with cash.

I only foound out when ringing round for the above mentioned that this is not strictly supposed to happen. It's to do with liability if you and your employer part company.

All I was after was to locate an actual bike, somewhere in the country! All I got was lots of web pages with pictures on. I tried touching them but they're not real :?

You're just teasing me now

The idea is: you tell me of a shop, doing http://www.cyclescheme.co.uk, that actually has a bike! So if your local shop has one in stock I can buy I will give you or your nominated charity £50!

I'm quite enjoying this now! Apart from the abuse…

That's nice, great use of the English language.

I'm after an actual bike. If you know of a shop that has one, as specified, and you put me in touch with them I'll give you £50.

I'm quite capable of finding a web page with a picture on it.

    Simples.

Chevin cycles – jolly good blokes! But I want a 2009 model…the 2010 ones are (in my eyes) awful.

Had to laugh at 1969's efforts though! Google, tap… quickest £50 you would have ever made!

vanilla83 – tried this through my local dealer but they were less than helpful!

I thought this would be a really good idea… may have changed my mind now  .

    1969 – is it in stock? £50……

Ok, just to clarify once more… the shop needs to actually have a bike in stock for me to purchase!

For £50 I am capable of typing 'Gary Fisher Paragon' into Google.. :D

    Does anyone want my money?

woodey, I've donre this and then popped it. I advise against that as it really hurts. I now ride a hardtail all the time (ss rigid usually), I did the Marmotte this year (10hrs ish in the saddle, 4 mountain passes finishing on the summit of Alpe d'Huez)

    A few thoughts:

    Be positive
    Mobilise
    Swim
    Ice when achey
    Swiss ball
    Pilates / core strength work
    Resistance work
Active recovery – easy rides building up
    Stay hydrated!

For me 5 months not being able to move much were tedious, but there is light at the end of the tunnel. Come back slowly and learn to listen to your body.

    Good luck! :-)

Gary….available on the cyclescheme, and it's not (even if they had one) because Pedal On only do bikes up to £1000 retail value and do not allow the customer to 'top up' :?

    FAIL

    Sorry Gary, nice try.
    a) they don't have one
    b) they don't do the cyclescheme over £1000

    Cash still waiting….

Great lights, Gecko mounts are good, and plenty bright enough for me! Waterproof, easy to get on and off, great service, good burn time, quick charging and according to others pretty robust.

Cons – err, they're not free?
