I just hope the poor lad makes a full recovery and is able to put this fully behind him.

Inflated wages / talent jealousy doesn't come into it.

    Good luck young Mr Ramsey.

SPD's will be ok as long as you don't intend to do prolonged climbing. Plus you'll be able to walk normally  . If you're only intending to do 100 milers in this country and short climbs such as the Bwlch etc then no probs.

If you are looking at long mountain climbs in heat (Marmotte stylee) I would strongly advise a road set up. The sole burning thing is just not funny.

Be consistent. It's just a test. And be loving and calm.

Ok, they were a pair of Royce 6 bolt titanium hubshells. Cliff's own, destined to be Ti Nitrided after engraving.. Apparently the billets prior to machining cost £250 each!

I've see poorer finish on high end watches. They were just perfect. And they're going to cost £1000 a pair, finished. But be quick, I don't think they'll be making many!

You lot are sick! Tim wins 1/2 a house point for the word 'hubs'.

But far, far sexier than tune….

The old stuff is the business.

The new stuff is just not the same quality. It's ok, but they've just bought the brand and are getting the bits made more cheaply than before.

The original polished stems and 7075 were the mutts nutts. Absolutely stunning quality.

My mates just bought a Pro from planet X on the cycles scheme. It was so cheap they're sending him a packet of fivers…

    I'll see you a Galabier, 2645m:

And raise you a Marmotte. Couldn't tell you m climbed, bit it was quite a few. 5000 odd. Take it you were there aP?

Ha! I trump your Port du Bales 1755m with my Col de la Madelaine – 2000m!

And the bike is, err, steel, sorry, IGMC.

I'd got for top side, not bottom. I prefer a smaller frame, it's a personal thing though.

Landy 90TDi here. Can get 2 x MTB's in the back or when the rack's on about 6 on the roof and 6 bods inside! It is cozy though!

The best bit is being able to get changed 'indoors' and being able to do a bacon sarnie or coffee in the back too. Top motors for MTB work. It also doesn't matter how dirty yours biuke is after a ride.

To be fair it's not great on motorways, but that is not what mine is for.

6'4", not made it to 19 stone yet. Practice makes perfect though.

19.5" On One here, Thomson post. No issues at all and it's a great fit.

Prolapsed disc can be verey uncomfortable, but like you having ruptured mine I would warn you that things can go to a whole new level. 18 years on and I sholud warn you that you may be in it for the long term!

In answer to your question, maybe never! If you're unlucky it can leave behind a weakness that may be prone to repeating the injury. Reduced disc space may also leave your facets being a bit tight.

Pilates, stretching, mobilising and hydrating will all help. And don't rush back! As if… But try swimming (front crawl only) or walking as alternatives to cycling if it aggrovates. Good luck

King = bling. Or vulgar depending on your viewpoint. And stupid money. Very pretty, bizarre noise, not without adjustment and engagement issues.

Hope = marginally slower pick up (are you doing Trials, are you really going to notice?) Really nicely made, easliy user servicable, spares are cheap, customer service is excellent too. Did I mention they were British too?

Buy Hope and send the difference (£204!) to the earthquake victims. Good Karma and a good hub for you.

Frozen freewheel is not the same as frozen freehub 8O

I'm assuming frozen freewheel is what the OP means, I solved this by ditching Shi*mano for WI. It may seem like an expensive solution, but I like my s/s to be simple and bullet proof

If you mean freehub then my Hope has proved to be totally reliable. All Shi*mano frrehubs allow ingrees of water on the drive side, then on into the freehub mechanism. I guess in the end this will freeze and cause your symptoms.

In fact I'll take that back, they are the same:

    DITCH SHI*MANO!

Or Shi*mano if you like to service the drive side every 3 & 1/2 yards if riding in the wet and mud.
