Valloire is quite pleasant with the Galibier on your doorstep.

    yeah that’s really handy for AdH………not…… !

It’s easy, just head uphill for a few k, come off the top of the Galibier, turn right and steam down the Lauteret.

It’s quite a long way home after, you could follow La Marmotte route ;-)

Great race, I really enjoyed it. Shame McLaren can’t seem to find the sweet spot with their car

I think the problem is they don’t currently have one…

‘Big upgrade’ is a must work or it’s all over sitaution.
The pressure is building nicely now ( Vettel pulling away in 2nd!), Alonso will relish it from here on. Especially the final three races.

    And I’m a McLaren fan!

+1 joolsburger. Jack Russell and Lurcher here. I’ll take them on short slow bimbles now as I’m not convinced it’s benefitting them greatly to go on longer faster rides.
The s/s is very dog friendly…..

I personally love ‘London Fixie/hipsters’ – they buy all my old fixed gear and track stuff for far too much money  leave them alone!

It doesn't guarantee certain desirable behaviours. My vet wouldn't and couldn't guarantee the results. Being castrated can[/i] alter a dogs behaviour and render it more aggresive….

A dog's behaviour is more likely a result of how it is brought up, treated and handled.

I wouldn't do it unless there was a medical need.

BTW my lurchers had his done, resulting from a medical problem. My Jack Russell is complete and is in no way aggresive or overtly fruity.

Walk your dog, wear it out, treat it properly and teach him if behaviour is unacceptable. But don't have surgery just because it's easy for you!

At the beginning of August I finally got round to replacing the frame and fork with stuff from Ribble, it all arrived as scheduled and the building began. After a small CRC problem with the headset, I finally finished it on Thursday and have been riding it ever since. All comments welcome.

Be careful what you wish for, this is STW!

It's just a simple bike that is a pleasure to ride and easier to clean in the winter

If you live somewhere flattish they're ideal off road. If you live somewhere hilly it will make you stronger. Or kill you.

Don't make it any more complicated than that.

It's poor service, I agree. But if you needed the stuff by a date grabbing it in a shop would guarantee to avoid any potential problems.

As a counter to your experince I've used On-One many times and never had any problems. Just good deals and prompt delivery.

Eh? They're not that complicated. Fairly pointless for most people, but not complicated.

    They are also more aerodynamic…

Aero is way better than lightweight any day of the week…

Unless you're riding uphill or in the wind…

And he's building onto 105 hubs! The carbon rims may be overkill.

Bloke leaves ordering stuff from mail order company too late and slags them off on the internet shocker. Chances aree their web pages may have been out of date on a sunday.

To be fair if you need stuff that desperately why don't you by them locally over the counter? Support your LBS!

How easy is getting the chainline sorted?
What sort of ratio would be good (bearing in mind I don't want to kill my knees)?
Is facial hair also a requirement for riding a bike with one gear?

    a) very easy
    b) Depends where you live, start 2:1 26er or 2:1 plus 2 teeth 29er
    c) Yes or no depending on wether you want facial hair

I use 39/53 for La Marmotte. i wouldn't use a triple as tehy just look silly on a road bike. I would consider a compact for the short sharp stuff over here.

£50 or what were your other options?

Stop moaning, they provided a service which you clearly needed right there, right then.

Otherwise, start inspecting your tyres regularly, carry a tyre boot, and ride a bike you can fix!

Fit one on the drive side only to prevent the wheel pulling in under tension. Essential for Q/R set up but also needed on my bolt up.

The Moto GP bikes looked lost on the grid this weekend. F1 is such a massive spectacle, the racing so far this year has been better than ever.

2010 – a dull season for Moto GP, but I wasn't massively excited by the endless Rossi 'coming from behind' scenario of previous years. Mince Spies has got a lot of promise, so with Lorenzo crowned King in 2010 and Rossi with two healthy legs and Stoner on the Yamaha, 2011 looks like a much better year.

I think F1 needs to be understood to be appreciated, many have too low a boredom threshold. But this year is building nicely! I've even grown to quite like the Red Bull no.2 driver. No idea who's going to win the drivers championship, even after Spa.

So it's F1 for me, Moto GP recorded to watch later and ff through the boring bits.

And don't forget your chamois cream! Riding fixed good distances is far harder on the arse….

if you can spin (it won't take long to learn especially with hills!) I'd go for a lower gear than some recommend here. I'm old and a bit of a git 43:17 here. I can manage 17 or 18 mph easily

If in doubt bite the owner to demonstrate what you're worried about…

Didn't they have a lead? I would have stopped running until I was sure they had the pooch control. Most folk know dogs off leads have a liking for running things and cycling things. Be considerate, we'd all get on better.

You need one in the shed. Plus a proper mtb. Plus a road bike, fixie, track bike, bmx, jump bike, dh bike…..etc

The ss gets ridden the most here.

Alberto Contadors reaction to his 'win' says it all. He is forever tainted. You let the road decide, not see your sole opponent get into mechanical difficulty and hare off.

The reaction of the crowd also spoke volumes. The TT today would have been the most exciting finish in history if he had done the decent thing. Contador robbed us of that, the same as he robbed Schleck. I hope he's happy.

    Chapeau Andy, great tour.

Kelly was more of a one day Classics rider and sprinter. Hard as **** nails.

Cav is a pure sprinter. Fast as ****. But don't knock him ton, he's young yet. He may even do a Jalabert on us!!

Sean Kelly impressess me more, his palmares says it all. And his commentary skills are legendary.

    Chris who?
