Top pull front mech is right shortcut. .
The green looks great!
Just been to afan for a weekend of joy on mine. . My mate has the same. . Two solari out eating up the welsh trails!
The solaris ate the trails up, fantastic. . I did all my climbs with fork at 100mm then wound out to 120mm for the descents. . The fox adjust fork was lovely and plush. . The solaris handled better and more grounded then a previous yeti asr5 I have owned, which says a lot about how good the steel framed hardnut is!
Great outlook guys, many thanks. . Really liking the sound if deore and slx now. . I think hope are just to costly from new in comparison (although most of the components fitted are hope so would all look rather Gucci!)
Also, check your fork pressure. . Make sure they are not up too high and rebound not to snappy. . Try thicker grips too. . All helps. . I wouldn’t stop cycling unless it becomes too painful . . Check your reach to bars too. .
I’m afraid to say that it can take a fair while to heal. . I find massage on the outer forearm helps and surprisingly light resistance work n biceps and triceps. . And also wrap an elastic band round your fingers and resist against the band by splaying fingers outwards. .
I have decent re alloys with jinyu winter tyres for the winter months. The alloys replaced the rubbish bmw mv1 alloys which had both cracked and been weld repaired! . The dezent re alloys are very strong winter alloys. . Which look so much better than the steel and are same price! The winter tyres are very good and not expensive. . £750 for tyre and wheel package. Apparently Most eu countries it is law to have winter tyres, why not gb?
Thanks to a very kind mate, I demo’d his solaris all weekend . . Superb, I’m sold. .for all uk riding, yet still a cross country angle. . The soda will be going . . . The solaris I find is smoother, faster, more planted and great fun. . Built up nice and light without compromises on strength is the way forward. . I found the fox ctd forks which run at either 100 or 120mm were superb and having the versatility was great. . I would recommend a solaris to anyone who wants a bike for all uk riding. . It really is a superb frame. .
Thanks Bol, I think as always a demo is the way forward. . I run a 120 on the soda and feels spot on. . Have flows and crests which I can change dependant on where I am riding. . Luckily a friend of mine has a solaris. . So i can have a first hand glance at one . .
I agree in not flogging till sure as it is an immaculate 2012 lynskey. .
A rocket was my other idea, but sits still in the 26inch world, would like to see a 650b rocket ;)
Comfort is becoming a large factor due to a bit of neck problems. . The solaris ‘may’
win on that front and be a good general riding bike. . A second hand solaris build may be the way to go, and keep the soda to . . . well just to let it look sexy in my garage!
Thanks Jon for your detailed and very informative post. . Gives me a few things to consider! A lot of my local stuff is twisty singletrack in woodland, which the soda copes really well with as I’m sure you know. . In an ideal world I suppose having one of each is the ideal. . Interesting re its downhill capabilities ! The soda I find lacks a bit for downhills even with a 120 fork. .
Contact rob at Wildbike .. He runs weekends down there on both dart moor and exmoor and does guiding even if not in keeping with his advertised dates on the wildbike website. . Top bloke and knows the areas well!
I have soda too on a 1×9 set up. . Works really well. . For xc stuff . . Not yet tested Wales etc but feel it will be fine. . Only now and again do I think I need a few extra gears, very steep stuff and getting quick speed on descents. . It is a perfect set up for xc racing with the leg strength! Standard xt cassette wi E13 ring/ chain guide ZTR shifter.
Have a look at the campsite (the only one) in applecross . . Beautiful place and the pub nearby is amazing. . really amazing food and drink. . Best oub food i have ever experienced.. no joke . .I had a mtb holiday there with WILDBIKE. . Very good. . Campsite friendly with showers etc. .
