You have to wonder what someone like Serena Williams would be doing if she’d grown up competing on two wheels rather than a tennis court.

Probably at the sharp end of whatever field, but still 11% or more behind the top men

but then where will you go to find your niche?
I assume the point of the photo’s is that the front made light work of the logs but the rear couldn’t hack it?
Does it actually handle OK? whats it like leaning it into corners?

-It would be my gift to the world
-And I jumped off to take a pic of it in situ 😛 Arty innit
-Yep. Front wheel goes where you point it. Sketchy looking roots ahead soon becomes what roots? as you steamroll over them. Leant over there’s lots of grip and it’s always the rear that’ll break loose first. To my surprise I carved a nice Sam Hill-esque inside line on a downhill corner which led me to exclaim “I AM A CYCLING GOD” to no-one in particular

It’s muscle mass/strength and aerobic capacity.
Out the gate, a man can sprint faster than a woman.
When it comes to cornering, a man will be stronger which translates into more ability to carry corner speed, and for longer.

Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce will never beat Usain Bolt, Serena Williams would never beat Andy Murray – that kinda thing.

Are those bars as wide as they look in the bottom pic?

    They’re only 680mm Tioga R60s

Those juggernauts are awful heavy, even floaters are lighter!

The wire 4.0 Juggernaut is <1400g, a Floater is way more. If it wasn’t, yeah I might’ve put a white one on

Erm. OP – are you not the person a few months ago that said that disc brakes were completely unnecessary (or was that just on singlespeeds?)

I think I said something about hydraulics. As it happens, the Deore V-brake is more powerful than the BB7 at the moment

If Suntour bring out that cheapish 1 1/8 steerer fat sus fork, everyone will be fat-fronting their old hardtails, mark my words

DMR V6s are only £12 from the German sites. They’re grippy and light. Maintenance-free but I bet the useful life to cost ratio is way better than NP Electrons, V12s, Vaults et al

Finally caught up with all the racing.
Pauline Ferrand Prevot must be literally from another planet. I’d love to visit it. And those tricolour grips are très cool.

Schurter is in the form of his life. Must be maddening to be Absalon, so close but not enough.

I’d imagine DH riders on DH bikes might struggle with that off camber section 😯

And both gold medallists did it on the slowest wheel size

I was very happy for Loic, he really deserved a win and seems a cool guy. Mike Jones did one hell of a run too.

Shame about Pompon and Tahnee crashing but it would have been tough to beat Rachel who is just a DH monster

Unless your savings are getting very low don’t panic.
Try and enjoy not working cos when you do get back in you’ll regret not doing what you coulda done with the time.
Most of the practical advice above is sound if you want to do things the conventional way.
There’s always the Aleister Crowley route that’ll definitely work

Tim Fortescue, an assistant whip while Sir Edward was prime minister, was part of the so-called ‘Westminster Secret Service’ who would hide dirty secrets for MPs and blackmail them for loyalty.
