I don’t see how you can say they’re the German equivalent of Claud Butler.

Care to enlighten me to your reasoning?

Just found a E13 XCX ST http://www.e13components.com/product_xcx_st.html seat tube mounted chain guide, which is pricey but does look good, plus I can get one via work ;)

Just found that one, a bit pricey, but would work, it’s similar to the Paul’s Chain Keeper

Only issue with the BB mounted ones is I have to use a Sq taper BB with my White Industries cranks

I’m wondering if an E type BB would work, can’t remember if they do a Sq taper one though

It’s on a Ti frame, so want something classy looking and simple that works with a Sq taper BB

Ahh, yes my riding won’t be smooth canal paths that’s for sure, pretty much everything but that.

Although the Jump Stop only stops you dropping the chain onto the BB shell, if it goes over to the crank arm side you still have a problem

I run Canti’s, V’s & discs, all of them stop me (with a little advance notice for the canti’s!)

I highly rate Cane Creek Direct Curve V brakes, they are superb stoppers, especially teamed up with Avid Sl levers which give good modulation via the adjuster

Even in muddy conditions they still stop me (all 11 stone)

It’s the lack of thought pertaining to anything that’s outside of the experience that’s part of the appeal in many ways.. Perfectly put.

All that I ever think about whilst riding is riding

AM is more gnar than XC, jumps drops.. wheels off the ground stuff, more technical terrain etc…

    Hi Stevie P

I’ve been off work on my hols this week, so Phil has been in touch with you. I popped in to work today and had a chat with Phil, sounds like it’s all going well, I’ll leave you in Phil’s capable hands.

    Cheers

Current job: walked into my LBS & they asked if I’d like a job. A couple of 5 minute chats to confirm T&C & jobs’ a good’un

Last job: been on the Dole for a month or so, a friend (works in e-commerce) was going over my CV with me, he emailed it to one of his clients, who rang me less than 24hrs later to ask if I’d like an interview. A 15 minute interview followed by a factory tour of the machinery and a few Q&A’s later & I had the job

Previous job: Knew one of the spanner monkey’s in the workshop, the Gaffer called me asking if I wanted an interview, I did. Turned up, had a 10 min chat and built a BSO from the box, job was mine.

Previous job: Walked into it, well sort of…. Went for lunch from a co. across the road I was working for, walked into the office and enquired about work, had an interview there and then (15 mins) plus factory tour, got the call 2 days later to start the next Monday

Previous job: Started as a temp & was taken on full time after 3 months

Anything before that is 15 years ago, so without digging my CV out it’s a bit of a haze.

I seem to either be very lucky, or damn good at (sometimes quite literally) walking into a job.

£50 ish, Specialized BG Comp shoes, very comfy & wider than Shimano in the toe box area so you generally don’t have to go for the next size up like with a lot of brands

£30 in fuel to have an awesome (™surfmat) day out on the bike with loads of other bikers exploring a new location is bloody good value IMO

compared to say 2 hours in the cinema for £7, you can piss £30 up the wall in a couple of hours on a night out too!

a £40 ultrasonic cleaner from maplin and diluted Fenwicks (same strength as you would use as a bike wash) does the trick for chains, cassettes, jockey wheels, mech’s & any other small parts I can fit into it.

I remember the good times with my Dad, who lost his very short battle with cancer last August he was diagnosed two weeks before he finally slipped away from us. He’d been getting weaker by the day since June & no-one at the Hospital figured out what was wrong until mid July.

I think about him every day, I remember him helping my do up my house, the daft little disagreements about how a certain DIY task should be done, falling over drunk after too many rum & coke’s, working with him cleaning factories even when he broke his collar bone in a fall at work he still finished his shift with me despite my concerns and demands that I take him to Hospital there & then, he was a stubborn bugger to say the least.

I feel relieved that his suffering has ended, but still feel pain for my mum, they were devoted to each other, now there’s only my mum & me left. It all feels just so wrong sometimes.

Sorry for this self centred post, it’s the first time I’ve mentioned any of this in public.

No they are not ‘diddling’ you

CRC have replied on the other thread

    Hi everyone,

Apologies for the delay in responding to the concerns you have expressed. We do take your comments very seriously and we understand the worry and frustration caused by credit card fraud. We would emphasise that the number of concerns brought to our attention is a tiny fraction of the number of transactions that we process on a daily basis, but no stone will be left unturned in our investigations.

Our own infrastructure is routinely and independently tested and we are confident that it is robust. We are working with industry experts including the card processing companies to identify possible causes both inside and outside the control of CRC.

We will update you with further information as and when we have it. In the meantime, if you are a customer of CRC and have been recently affected by any of the matters discussed, please contact us on +44 (0)2893343758 between 9am – 5.30pm or email enquiries@chainreactioncycles.com and we will be glad to help you.

someone from Bikeradar forum has spoken to CRC about this

Just spoke to chainreaction. They are aware of the situation and their security team are aware of the situation. Chainreaction does look like the platform for which the details have been stolen. I urge anyway who has used chainreaction to check their account or contact their bank immediatly.

7spd XT on one of my bikes

Had 8spd Deore/Sram Attack on another bike

Both work well & seem to be a bit longer lasting than my 9spd bikes drivetrains

Far too many retro Kona’s being resprayed white these days.

How about a nice strong dark shade of blue or green? should work with your decals and would look really nice with silver components contrasting the darker colour paintjob

Got a good selection of Cube hybrids (from £419) and just built up a Cube CX bike today (£1399, so not cheap!)

Also got Claud Butler Chinook & Levante flat bar road bikes in stock, both <£400, but no good for CX

With my GPS thingymabob I have averaged ~7mph over several rides in varying conditions, length and terrain mostly winter rides though, a summer ride of 30 miles avg more like 8.5mph round Huddersfield area

    I need to ride more!
