Chainring bolts have arrived, so the outer ring is off and the XCX chainguide is on… with a little fettling…

Might go for a spin tomorrow, so I’ll take the camera with me ;)

I had seen those too, just a little unsure of their quality & how flexy they are, I might be able to blag a different pair of Ti bars off a mates bike to try em

And if anyone knows where I can find a nice silver stem (without breaking the bank), 90mm 1 1/8th steerer & 25.4mm clamp I can put these bars and stem back onto my Orange Clockwork ;)

    Cheers!

Looking at it in the pics I think flat bars might be in order

I’ll flip the spacers round tomorrow to simulate a flat bar height

Hmm OnOne Fleegle’s maybe for a giggle?

Anyone know of any nice silver flat (ish) bars in a 25.4 clamp?

Plenty of rumbling in North East Lincolnshire

Whether it’s the curry and ale from last night or the weather I’m not sure

Yes they do, but your warranty lies with the retailer

    rigid to 80mm to 100mm & 130mm to 140mm, now 100mm 80mm (x2) and 50mm.

    so yes.

personally never felt the need to go over 140mm, and the latest build will be 80mm

digital scales (from eBay, will weigh in 10g increments) attached to workstand via loop on scales (provides a secure and non wobbly way of holding scales)

hook of digital scales under saddle, or use a luggage strap around the frame and hooked to the scales

I was born & live in North East Lincolnshire.

Not ideal mountain bike terrain, but you can still have fun on bikes in the Lincolnshire Wolds

I was about to post a thank you to CharlieTBM too

    My stickers arrived yesterday

Thanks very much, once the bike is clean on they go.

I’ll be buying a few bits for my latest build so I’d expect an order in the next week or so ;)

    £75-£90 a corner

    Usually Toyo Proxes T1-R(205/45/16)

Because I like to have a decent tyre that has plenty of grip and I don’t do more than 5-6000 miles a year so a pair on the front lasts about 2 years.

Oh, they look cool too with their tread pattern ;)

    clubber so it is.

I tend to read the 1st post and answer the question, rather than reading the whole thread, which can be good thing as you miss out on all the crap that goes on, but you can also miss out on someone giving the same kinda answer that I’m about to post!

    60-80mm max I believe

To be sure ask on Retrobike, someone will know what the bike came with, what it can take & what works best

Ergon do lots of funny looking grips if it’s not the ones above it might be another of theirs

Hmm, I might bookmark this thread for future use.

About 3 months ago new tenants moved in next door, I have a nagging doubt that the future holds a few problems

Not as bad as the OP’s (yet) but only time will tell.

I hope that my first impressions of my new neighbours are wrong.

Speak to a solicitor first Steve.

You do not want to go about this the wrong way, it may cock things up bigtime if you go about it the wrong way

Agree with the three points above, especially 1,2 and 3.

    Solicitor’s tomorrow Steve.

No “I’ll do it later”, do it now (well tomorrow) even if it is just a first phone call to book an appointment, get it done.

I know someone who is getting the very shitty end of the stick from a bunny boiler who cheated on him. He’s lost his house, van, job, the lot, can’t see his kids because of an injunction which she happily breaks by spying on him and following his every move (he shoved the lad she cheated with out of the way and got done for it)

Try a strong alkali substance, it worked on a very stuck post over on Retrobike that refused to budge with the usual methods of Coke or Plus gas

Failing the above, hacksaw the bugger out.

Thing with heating the frame is that aluminium will expand quicker than steel.

The Reba is a more adjustable fork than the Fox, the Fox is a very good fork too, just not as many adjustments (which you pretty much set up & leave alone anyway) Reba has a remote lock out Fox doesn’t

Personally I run both Reba and Fox forks, I’ve had no issues with either fork

Great value, well built, pretty lightweight for the money (that’s both the Race & Team)

    Well worth the money.

We have a few in stock at the mo, but they are going fast (pun intended!). I can have a look on Monday if there’s a particular size/colour you want, we should have it in stock.

Stevie P bought a Carbon cube hardtail from us a week or so ago, I believe he was very happy with the service from us

To me it doesn’t matter where a driver comes from

It just happens to be that Alonso is a whiny toys out of the pram kind of brilliant driver

Alonso isn’t the only driver who gets a bit whiny when it’s not going his way, he just seems to do it more often than others IMHO

anyhoo, I have a bottle of Old Pulteney to savour, rather than discussing the same old discussion about certain drivers again & again.

PS Webber is a bit shit, but he’d still outdrive anyone on here, well except Surf Mat.

Has anyone ever seen Alsonso & Surf Mat in the same room at the same time eh, there’s a thought.

This race has all the makings of being a classic.

Lets hope it’s not a classic let down.

Vettel to scamper off, chased by Hamilton, Webber’s KERS plays up & Button gains a place, Massa will yeild to Alonso by stopping for a nice cup of tea on the apex of turn 4, Heidfeld will stuff the start & Petrov will be another thorn in the side of Alonso, who will whine about it over the radio for 56 laps.

On the flip side I had problems with Tony in warranty @ Merlin.

When I tried to warranty a part with a known fault I was

    1) told to contact the distributor, not Merlin to sort the problem (I knew this to be incorrect, the warranty is with the retailer, not the distributor), so I humoured them and contacted Fisher Outdoor, who confirmed that the warranty was with Merlin & wondered exactly what the hell they were doing telling me to contact Fisher Outdoor

    2) told it wasn’t under the 1 year warranty (again incorrect, Sram had a 2 year warranty on this product)

    3) had the wrong product returned to me, upon asking Merlin did however apologise & said they didn’t actually know exactly which product I’d sent them but seen as a month had gone by without my bike I decided to accept the incorrect part (it did work, but it wasn’t what I returned to Merlin & the part I actually wanted was still available in their website)

Since this incident 3 years ago I’ve only used Merlin once, simply because they did not provide me with a good service when needed & pretty much lied to/misled me, even though I know the correct procedure and warranty terms. Very poor service IME

I’d be asking an independent financial advisor

I’m not one, but you may get 3x your salary (as a rough guide), well that’s what I got anyway, it all depends on your circumstances

50% less lol, I’d love to have a margin that big in the shop.

Some cycle schemes charge 12% admin fees

As Slugwash mentioned, it’s all about volume when it comes to cycle scheme

We don’t offer a full ‘professional fitting service’, but we do make sure a bike fits you properly, free of charge.
