As a bike mechanic for quite a few years now I can say that I have seem plenty of broken rear mechs, both from Shimano & Sram in roughly equal amounts

With caged SPD pedals the SPD mechanism always stands proud of the cage and will hinder grip on the pedal when unclipped & it's pretty uncomfortable too riding unclipped

You may also have to trim the soles of some shoes to get a good connection between cleat & pedal when clipped in

Combo spd/flat pedals are even worse.

Flat or SPD, anything else is a bad compromise.

There are two Fozzy Bears on here, the other one did used to be on Bike Radar and here under Fozzybear, they are not the same person.

Fozzy Bear & Fozzybear are the two usernames on here the one in question in this post is Fozzy Bear

Edit, just searched the usernames on here and since the revert back to users original names there is only one Fozzybear & I'm pretty sure it's not him who sold you the items in question, his real name is not the same as the one at the top of this topic

Has the user Fozzy bear reverted back to his original username?

Elephant Shitbath, a very muddy section.

Tunnel of Doom, a steep rocky chute overgrown with trees.

Jim shaped hole, a section of trail that was used on a commute by Jim, who slightly widened a gaps in the bushes to aid his commute.

hehe, I have a retro 27" wheeled flat barred road bike, if it was single speed or fixie I'd be proper niche lol

A friend has a roadrat with Mary bars, very nice bike, handles well, very adaptable, highly recommended

Just wait until you have to deal with them about a warranty issue.

They are not good in this respect IME

Snapped a Sram X9 rear mech @ the B knuckle, a common fault on some X9 rear mechs

Was told that Sram rear mechs have a 1 year warranty, it's a 2 year warranty

Was told to send it to Sram, who when contacted said, er no, back to Merlin (which I knew was the case anyway)

Was eventually given a medium cage version instead of the long cage one that snapped at the B knuckle. (medium cage is cheaper than long cage, go figure…)

Took over a month to sort out.

Must be down to the managers discretion, the Wetherspoons local to me will only accept card payment for food or food & drink, not drinks on their own, as a friend of mine found out much to her displeasure a couple of months ago

Wetherspoons will not take card payments for drinks alone, if you order food you can buy drinks on the same order at the same time though.

Capt jon, so how would you contact someone if they had sold you something, but it had taken far too long for it to arrive & they weren't replying in their for sale thread, IIRC, 'Paging xyz' topics get deleted by mods as they're not allowed…

the hamster isn't compatible with phpBB.

the forum does lack a few features, Personal Messaging being the main one that springs to mind as not all users have a visible email if you do want to contact them

Should be OK, chains don't normally jump off chainrings on a 3×9 set up so why should they on a 1×9?

Use an old front mech with the limit screws adjusted if you want a cheap option for a chain device.

contact your council, mine does an energy efficiency scheme (SHEEP, South Humberside Energy Efficiency Partnership) which discounts cavity wall insulation, new boilers, loft insulation to all hose ownwers

new combi condensing boiler cost me £1400 fitted, 8" of loft insulation £200 fitted.

Hopefully your council has something similar & still has funds

I've been using this curry cookbook for over 10 years

    http://www.kazi.org/products/Encyclopedia_of_Indian_Cooking-2242-14.html

The curries taste far better than in any curry house I've ever eaten in.

Delhi Chicken curry & spiced Mango rice are two of my faves from the book

My ex demo bike was 1/2 the RRP @ £1400, quite a loss of profit for the manufacturer for a year old bike, but if that one sacrificial demo bike brought in a few sales then I guess it balances out the loss on the demo bike.

But as the charge is from the LBS for the demo of a bike, then costs need to be covered although some shops do seem to charge OTT prices for a demo.

A lot of shops will refund the fee if the demo bike is bought, a friends Meta 553 had the £25 fee refunded

    £25, not bad

    £40, bloody hell

Guess if the bike is ordered in then postage has to be covered

If not that's (£40) damn expensive, mind you so is hiring a bike for the day.

What about a single person on a low income?

It's bloody hard to run a house on national basic minimum wage.

I get F all help apart from a 25% reduction in council tax.

Reducing the tax if you're married is just wrong.

I went to a good local firm (used by most members of my family)

Can't beat going local IMHO, far better service than I received from any chain store I went to (Homebase, Wickes, B&Q…)

£7500 later and one new kitchen with everything included tiles, appliances, rewiring, the lot (barring the washing machine) even the kitchen sink in lovely black granite!

Spent the day getting our new machinery up & running, many profanities were uttered. No manual or training, just push a button & see what happens, tweak this see what happens etc…

After 'work' I serviced a BSO & a BMX & delivered another customers bike after it's service.

Just had a Chinese, going to have a single malt then off to bed ready for the mornings profanities with the machinery again.

If one of my employees did that they would be told to get on the phone immediately and give the customer the required info & an apology for the delay.

If the employee said I will call you back in x hours then they should do, common courtesy

Why is the competitor selling up?

Turnover means nothing, do you know if the business is profitable?

I could have bought a bike shop for £25k 2 years ago, turnover of over £100k, but the shop was not running at a profit so I walked away.

If it is profitable then good luck
