Dalby was closed last week due to the heavy snowfall & trees down all over the trails

A quick google confirms it’s ‘officially’ shut http://www.forestry.gov.uk/dalbyforest

1st car was a 1986 Ford Escort 1.3L 3 door C720MWC, 4 speed, leaky boot, dodgy electrics, used a gallon of oil every 1000 miles…

My Ibiza looked fine after it’s 5-10mph kerb incident too, still borked the lower wishbone, looks can be decieving

Not lobsters, I know, but Sealskinz winter cycling gloves work for me & I used to suffer with cold hands.

I bent the lower wishbone when I slid into a kerb a few years ago with my last car (Seat Ibiza) part was £35 + fitting IIRC

drove ok in the snow as there was less friction to pull the car to one side, took it to the garage in drier conditions, it was a pig to drive there even at a very slow pace

I’d be getting it checked out ASAP

As in a feedback thread, good idea, works on other forums, could be a new section of the forum, would make it easier to find a user you want to check the feedback of

With new users you just have to bite the bullet & use your own judgement & get a phone number/address

I rarely have to change pads, last sets I changed were 18/24 months old Hope/Hayes, both standard OE pads with life left in them, I only changed them as I thought it best to as I bled them at the same time

OK, so I don’t ride every week (at least once a month) but have ridden through some of UK’s finest grinding paste & not had a set of pads wear out in just one ride, my rides vary from 10-40 milers and general XC/trail riding/mincing

Just goes to show along with the rest of the replies how many variables there are with pad life
Just a follow up from my last post on this subject…

Just replaced the rear pads on the Cube (Formula R1) and they’re not quite back to the backing plate, maybe .5mm – 1mm of pad material left on them.

Lifespan ~300 miles (worst I’ve had for disc brakes)

Not quite sure as to why the rear’s wore out 1st front’s still look good, guess I’m dragging the rear a bit

Ordered £40 parts at 01.14 on Friday 29th

    Despatched at 10.00 Friday 29th

Arrived Saturday 30th at my home address

Free postage option, did use 10% loyalty voucher.

I was expecting it to arrive on the Monday, quite a nice surprise getting it earlier meant I had time to fit the stuff & ride.

Black only as far as I know if you want real leather, brown & white are leatherette, not real leather.

Got both the white & black Ti saddles, no difference so far (the white is quite new though compared to the black)

Also a brown CroMo one, again no real difference that I can tell in performance/life/comfort….

It’s been slowing down a little for a few weeks now, prob doing 70% of what we were doing in summer

It’s that time of year, kids have gone back to school, summer has gone to visit the southern hemisphere and it’s not quite Christams season

Jan/Feb are usually the worst months IME

You’ll probably hate me for this, but I’d really like a Saracen Kili Flyer either in Tange Prestige or Ti, depending on cost

You must be doing it wrong, I’ve never had to remove the top plate to get a saddle on a Thomson post.

Last Thomson I bought 2nd hand cost £40 in mint condition with the bag & stickers, not that expensive really

Bloody good seatpost, although I think I may be starting to prefer my Syntace post over the Thomson, as it’s a little less common.

Cube dealers can get Syntace stuff.

As for online I’ve not found any UK stores yet stocking Syntace

I’d say I send about £35ish per week on food (no booze in that) for just myself

    Mostly stuff I need, & a few want’s (nice biscuits & cake)

Only buy what you need, buy own brand stuff & be wary of special offers, sometimes they’re not as good a deal as you’d think. That should help lower the bill (assuming you don’t already do this)

Just my opinion, not been in that same situation, but this is how I’d play it

Offer him a little advice on which bike to get, if he chooses to listen or not at least you offered.

Just let him get on with it in his own time on his own for a bit, then join in occasionally and offer a few hints & tips, then leave him alone to it again, before joining in again & seeing if he’s progressed & take it from there

    The average British man

    * 38 years and 4 months old. He has 41 years left to live almost average, 2 months out

    * If he works full time, he works 39 hours per week. 40hr week

    * He earns £28,270 a year. lol, more like 19k if I’m lucky

    * He is educated up to A-level standard.

    * If he lives in England, he is 175.3cm tall

    * He weighs 83.6kg more like 63kg

I’ll have those extra cakes please, oh and that other 10k ta, I might be able to afford a pension then.

druidh, I prefer Wispa’s, but thanks for the offer anyway ;)

Hmm, I only have 2 carriers so the rubber strips get slung into the footwell on that side of the car so that I know which side they’re from.

Maybe colour code them with nail varnish or touch up paint?

The rubber inserts are a doddle to fit & remove, a little washing up liquid helps them pop in & out in seconds

If the Thule aero bars are a similar design to my Seat OE aero bars then yes, dead easy to fit/remove.

The 3 levers on the 591 clamp & release the bars into/out from the groove in the bars & you just slide the carriers out, 2 min job max for each 591 carrier

Both my bars & carriers are permanently attached to the car as I’m a lazy git using the carriers quite a lot.
