    Think Mark said next week.
Responsible group rides of course, trails are still a bit messy… 😀

    I was there today (Sat)
Snowy on the high ground, got better lower down.
    The decents were great…

Yea, I’m going to Glentress today.
It’s not going to be pretty.

I think ideally I’d like 140mm forks. I had the rebas knocking around. So that’ll be my next upgrade.
The renthal bars are sweet I think, they match the fork stanchion.

    Very nice.
Why did you go for the rocket over the blood?

So. took it for it’s first proper, mud-splattering run.
    It feels amazing…
Two stand out things – the Hope M4 brakes are immence & the nobby nics are quality.
One thing that’ll take some getting used to is the low bottom bracket, bashed my pedals so many times.
This was one of the gripes the guys at Bike Radar had in their Review of the P7.
    So I’m a happy boy.
Thanks for all the comments guys.
    Cheers.

    +1 Sanny
This was sounding like a Daily Mail type anti-cycling, pro-rambler thread.
I really don’t see how the thousands of walkers do any less damage than the relatively few cyclists.
As said, it is about responsible use by all groups.

    It’s horrific.
There’s a state of emergency at a nuclear power plant!
Although I think their excellent building regulations & engineering have saved thousands more.

It feels great, definately the best bike I’ve ever had.
You can tell all that from one gentle ride of it?

My other bikes have all been pretty average really.
I rode the P7 around my living room and knew it was awesome!

Nice. Just bought one of those saddles for a build I’m doing. Is it comfy?

    Cheers.
    Yes they are really comfy.
I was suprised how good it felt, thought it might be all looks.

To be honest mate, I wouldn’t be putting anything fancy on your CBR.
Just ride it until it dies while saving for a real nice bike.
Bolting nice stuff onto a cheaper frame doesn’t improve things much.
Just my thoughts, but enjoy riding what you have and put your pennies in a jar for later.

“Jim & Eddie Talikin Shit” is brutal, dirty, very sweary and very funny.
It’s comedians Jim Jefferies & Eddie Ifft.

So many people buy into the aspiational hype of MBR etc that “you must own so & so” or “this & that is no good.”
Some people have full suss bikes for mild, barely “mountain” biking & will never use them to their full potential.
I don’t like how hardtails are seen as an inferior and cheaper option.
There’s some amazing HTs out there that will go anywhere like Cotic, Evil, Ragley, Dialled, Orange, Santa Cruz etc.
I’ve just spent close to £2400 on a hardtail, hardly a cheap option!

…and yes, this is germany. it’s called ‘Beleidigung’ “er hat mich beleidigt”. > “he insulted me.”
and best of all, there is a sliding scale of offences and fines to match.
my mate got fined 900€ for calling a bus driver (that almost ran him over) an arsehole, waynker, and motherfecker. it’d have been a bit less if the guy wasn’t in uniform and lots more if it was a copper.
you can even get done for giving someone the finger.
i find it’s cheaper to blow them a kiss and winds them up just as much.

    A sliding scale of offences!
I must see that with translations!

I’ve often wondered about the impact of riding off road, particularly years of riding the same trails.
Is mountain bike riding not as environmentally friendly as perceived?
    Who is responsible for trails?
    Can riders maintain trails?

Let the bike move under you?

The bike will slither & move around under you, if you’re tense then you will be thrown off balance when the bike moves.
So let it move around with bent knees & elbows and try to maintain balance.

    Arse over the back wheel.
    Drop yer heels.
Keep yer wrists down too (might need to change brake lever position)
    Elbows out.
    Knees bent.
Let the bike move under you.
    Stay relaxed.
Look ahead to where you want to go, not a foot infront of the front wheel.
Commit to it, momentum is good and speed can get you over things.
That’s what I’ve been trying to do anyway. Think it has helped.

A lot of their in-house guys have a polished finish on their bikes, see how they look after it.
My mate has a polished five, bloody lovely it is.

    Hey Ton,
I’m a Cardiology Nurse Practitioner, I do Electrophysiology (cardiac rhythm management.
I’m sure you’ve looked into AF before but…
AF is when the Atria don’t contract properley, they shiver instead.
Because of this, blood flow in the atria is slow, and can get thick & clotty, hence the Warfarin.
AF can come & go quickly (paroxysmal) Last a while (persistant) or be chronic (permanent)
For you to be going for a cardioversion, you must have persistent or more likely, permanent.
AF can be caused by high blood pressure, alcohol, mitral valve disease as well as some other disease process as well as occuring in fit people.
As the atria are shivering, these random electrical signals are picked up by the ventricles, causing them to beat, this might be fast – causing you to feel unwell & unfit.
Digoxin slows done the ventricle while doing nothing for the atria or the AF.
You can do without your atrial output, it accounts for a quarter of your hearts performance, so if you have a strong ventricle, you’ll be ok.
Digoxin is a very old drug, derived from the foxglove plant – too much of the plant would stop the heart and be deadly!
Digoxin is quite old fashioned. I don’t like it much, especially in younger, active people.
    It lacks ‘rate response’
I mean when you excersize, when your heart needs to go faster, the digoxin doesn’t allow this.
The beta blocker may make you tired but it may be useful for AF, bisoprolol is a nice beta blocker too.
There is a more elegant drug than digoxin one called Dronedarone which has recently been approved by NICE (the people who decide what can & can’t be used)
It has excellent benefits for AF whithout the side effects of digoxin or amioderone.
Cardioversion may work, and you certainly don’t want AF forever but you may need to look at possible causes to see if you can get you BP down etc.
Another possibility is called Radio-frequency Ablation or Cryo-ablation.
This is where a catheter is placed into the problem area (usually Left Atria) and the abnormal signals are destroyed.
This is tricky for AF with success rates being 50-75%.

So to answer you…AF can go away, but it is more likely the digoxin slowing your heart to a more normal rate (you were probably tachycardic (fast))
It’s not a bad idea to cycle but take it very easy, as i said digoxin will keep your heart slow, so don’t push it as your heart wont be able to respond.
So gentle towpath stuff, no big hills.
Also warfarin thins your blood, so you will bleed if damaged especially head injuries.

You’ll be ok though, AF is very common and won’t kill you.
You have lots of options available, some won’t work some will so be patient and keep your chin up, you’ll get this sorted.

My email is in my profile, or DM me if you do the twitter thing.

London barbers next to The Bike Chain.
    Run by a Turkish bloke.
Does the works…Head, eyebrows, nose, neck, he hits your ears with a flaming wee stick then he rubs cheap lotion all over your head so you smell like a french brothel (i imagine).
It’s actually a good job for eight quid, or 25 for that & cut-throat shave.

I’ve been here 11 years now.
    Great place.
Small city, you can cycle across it easily.
    Quite expensive to rent/buy.
Good for cycling, some nice ‘hidden’ routes, also parks & hills within the city like arthurs seat, blackford hill, corstorphine hill.
Pentlands is 20min from centre, not much nice singletrack there, more wilderness riding, hills etc, good though, lots to explore.
Glentress etc is 1/2 hour drive.
Places to avoid – Craigmillar, Niddrie, Pilton, Granton, Wester Hailes, although there’s good & bad everywhere.
Leith for example is a very large area running from the centre out to the coast, good for renting but has good & bad areas.
It’s the second best city in Scotland (after Inverness!)

I can’t see Corstorphine happening, but Craigmillar is a great option.
It’s very underused, large and in an area that could use some investment and somewhere for the kids to ride their nicked bikes!

    I think they look horrible.
Must admit, when I see one of them out xc riding, I do think his mum made him wear that, and the knee pads, and elbow pads, and shin pads, and back brace etc.
If you really feel your face is that pretty that you’d put that contraption on your head then fire on. 😀
Otherwise, look at how you managed to eat dirt in the first place and deal with it in a fashion conscious way. 😆

    Scotland is good for that.
I had noisey neighbours a few weeks back, called police HQ in Edinburgh, they email enviromental health, they came out within half an hour – problem solved.
