Without wanting to start another thread I have decided to retire my MK1 as I just don’t use it & would like to know if it’s worth selling/what to ask for it?
Its the original scandium version in bloody good condition with only minor cable rub & would come with a silver King headset/Thomson clamp & X-fusion slide forks (that have a lower axle to crown height so they work with the frame so set at 80mm) also in excellent condition as I many used the bike rigid.

    Any thoughts?
    Cheers.

I remember seeing them at the gadget show when they first came out, very funky looking, I don’t think you can still buy them, but I bought a curved as shown above anyway.

    Cheers.

I was glad Simba had the return warranty, I had to use it as it was to soft & very warm. I bought one from costco in the end, the Pocket Spring Bed Company Pemberley Mattress, it’s very firm for a medium but I like that, it just proves that we are all different & trail periods were the best thing that has happened to the industry. Well that and proper bedding that can breath, I love my baavet duvet :D

allthegear as a major irritant? One of the least offensive posters? Never seen anything irritating posted

There used to be a member called allthegearnoidea who used that profile to be a little bit confrontational, but as having two profiles is not allowed then it really wasn’t me, especially at the time surf matt & fred were about, they were banned for the latter for apparently exposing his use of meds, although we still don’t know if he was a psycho or not.

First year in a long time I haven’t camped, but I think me & the family are done with it for now, I’m gutted as I bought a new massive tent last year & haven’t even used it :(

To support countzero, a road I use was until fairly recently was a NSL of 60 as it was rural, it then went to 40/30/60, it then further went 40/30/20/60, I still drive the road the same as I always did, just because a few idiots thought they could take a blind 100degree plus bend at 60mph in the snow doesn’t mean I should adjust the way I drive.

For funkmasterp, those are the **** that can’t see well enough to go fast on unlit roads that then try to make ground when they can see in a lit (urban ) area :-(

I’ve not read the thread as life is to short, but in my opinion things that should of been said by now are (in order of importance )

    1, Where is surf matt?

2, My car is NCAP 1 billion so it won’t affect me or my victims

3, We live in a nanny state

4, I am better than the majority of drivers on the road

5, All motorised road users are killers.

May I also say that I have absolutely no respect for the posted limits of the road, sometimes I drive faster, sometimes slower, I refer you to point 4 ;-)

FWIW Mark, I have just changed from the S-works Ground Control 2.1 to the Crossmark II 2.25, the difference in cornering is night & day & the rolling resistance is mildly improved, I have not tried it in gloop yet but given that the GC’s were shit in the mud then I can’t see the CM11’s being much worse.

I have just looked at the booking form & it seems all you get is an aircan service as standard, not looking like the value I thought it was as I can do that myself.

SR, have you watched the people who failed on a normal bike do it again on an eBike? That made me smile, although I admit it is not that relevant to a MTB forum.

    Cheers.

Not of help now I know, but when I get anything powder coated I put old bolts, BB & headset in at just a fraction off full insertion to make life easier to clean up after the process, but I supposed price payed Vs expectations plays a part, I have only payed less that £30 to get a frame powder coated so I expected them to make a bit of a mess.

Nooooo, not the Stiffee. What size/year is it ?

2002/3 original round tube 19″, I have decided that I don’t want to give away the Turner Burner or the new Charge frames I have, although I would of used the Charge if I had forks to fit the head tube.

If it were me i would just let bro have one on long term loan, or for a nominal fee. Given plenty of retro stuff away for below market value to strangers so certainty wouldn’t be counting beans for my brother.

I’m not counting, but if I’m giving him something that cost me £130 & I haven’t used it then It’s not used so he can pay for it or buy his own!

    Cheers.

I have only recently bought a pair of Maxxis CrossMark II’s that I’m really impressed with, certainly not the lightest but very confidence inspiring for such a fast tyre.

A little update from me. I got a call from Virgin today & I have settled on 50Mbps BB, XL TV so I can keep BT sport, 2 boxes & phone line for £52.50, quite happy with that but sad I had to go through the termination process to get there.

    Cheers.

Right then, as said I love my brother so I’m going to ask if he wants me to build him a bike based on an old Stiffee frame with lots of old kit, the only thing I will charge him for is the rear wheel which is new & unridden which cost me about £130 & make it clear that that is all he has bought, the rest I have given to him, seems like a good compromise to me, thanks for all the input.

    Cheers.

How much do you love your brother is more the question. More than you love spares you’ll never use.

Or to put it another way, if I offered a Turner Burner with decent kit for £300 would someone buy it?

So I’m just giving my brother money right? Although I would if he was short of it.

    Cheers.

Oh, I gave him a bike before, a pretty special to me RSP, my first proper MTB from the 90’s, he gave it away without asking.

It is a serious dilemma for me, but to be fair if I sell him my old shit then I know I’m going to liable for it for at least the foreseeable future. He laughed when I said forks & shocks were a serviceable item, then nearly passed out when I said forks need servicing every 100 hours & it would coat a few quid to do so.
I think my real problem will be with the ongoing commitment :(

I did offer mine some time ago, but TBH once I have made the decision to get rid I wanted them gone in a shorter time frame than anyone offered, so I recycled them, although I do still have issue 100 in it’s raper obviously unread 8O

I also got the email from Virgin telling me it’s going up by £3.99, I took the opportunity to cancel although I’m now wondering what to do for decent internet as Virgin is very fast, not even the Gif thread bothers it
Looking around BT seems the best VFM but I have no idea where of if I have a line

My mutts are called Kobe & Braid, I have never come across another named the same. I also didn’t fancy walking around the park yelling some twee name, & it needs to be short so the stupid animal has a chance of recognising it before they look at you & do what the hell they want to do anyway.

I bet no one will ever say this again, but the frame I liked the most & rode to a literal death was my Azonic Propulsion, I loved it & it took me a lot of wasted money to realise why, it had a really slack seat tube & normal (for the time) head angle, which put my weight further back & made it fun rather than efficient, the Burner that replaced it still sits in the loft after only a few rides & I did try a enduro sx & a Norco but it was always the steep seat angle that stopped me loving them, strangely HT’s seem less affected by a steeper seat tube to me, but all my frames are on the playful side.

    Cheers.

I take it you are talking about seat angle only & not there ability to run SS? In which case it would affect seat angle by about a degree at max fore/aft, I think :)

Chief, that makes sense to me, but surely it would add weight?

Late to the party again, but as I’m here then I’ll just add that having owned a Dyson, & still an owner of a Henry & a Sebo I must say that the Henry stays in the garage & cleans that & the cars only, or gets to clean up mega mess in the house if minor or major demolition has occurred, usually followed by the Sebo to do the final clean of the fine dust the Henry leaves behind, they are industrial & virtually indestructible but they are a blunt tool & a really not that powerful if you use the bags.

You would all be amazed at how many people really don’t have a clue how to drive, let alone drive a proper sports car, money is not a reason to own a fast car, or at least it shouldn’t be
