If you manage to sell your frame then I have a Banshee chaparral frame for sale, if you search my login you’ll find it.

Best of luck with the swap.

I find them OK, not noisy but that may be my setup, not the most powerful.
The worst thing I find is that there is little lever ‘feel’, I have reverted to introducing air into mine, it gives a more progressive feel.

I would say that I love hope brakes though, from the C2 through to the pro’s, they have been consistent & reliable, you can’t ask for more.
    Cheers.

Junkyard, I was shot down a long time ago for suggesting a two tear forum, you don’t want to go there ;)

resurrection, £50 probably wouldn’t buy them all a pint & kebab each, I think they deserve better.

I really can’t believe that 50p per add would stop someone advertising something, it may stop some of the more optimistic posts though. Hora does have a point, paypal ain’t the best, & that may put off more people.

Come on STW, give us your perspective.

As soon as the word ‘Paypal’ was mentioned I switched off. I wont go near anything with Paypal as payment.

I’m sure most people would be happy about that Mark ;)

Just seen tomdebruin’s reply, I guess that will sort out most of the problems if & when it’s implemented.
I still don’t see why STW can’t earn a few quid from it though ;)

I don’t think the admin would be that tough, just use paypal to get through to the ‘add new’ page, the time limit would be tougher, but I suppose there must be a way of creating a filter that automatically deletes posts after a set time. I also do think a time limit wouldn’t be necessary if new adds went to the top of the page, & subsequent bumping of old adds didn’t put them back to the top, it would also mean people would make much more use of the search facility.

I’d love to know how much the ‘buy us a pint’ generates, but I bet its not enough to keep the forum free. By the looks of the amount of traffic in the classifieds, people are using STW instead of ebay, not a bad thing but I don’t see why STW shouldn’t benefit from it. I also understand that particularly cheap goods may not be worth selling, but if wanted adds were free, then there is no reason you couldn’t sell anything provided someone has asked for it.

I’m sure its all doable, I just don’t know if its worth doing.
Perhaps Mark will enlighten us by gracing us with his presence on this thread, if he sees it.

I second stoners Site recommendation, I bought one when the charger for my Makita combi drill failed, it was cheaper than just a new charger for the makita, it charges the batteris on it perfectly.
I have found I now use the Site drill more often than the makita because of its smaller size & its ability to do most of the jobs the makita can.
I doubt there is better for £50, but just remember to use a code for an extra 10% off!

    Enjoy the DIY.

    that’s what I said

The OP was talking about ABS – anti lock braking. Smee & friends seem to have confused that with traction/stability control

At least read my post, how would a car know if the wheels were locked?

Ok, I’ll spell it out for you, if all four wheels are locked then the speedo shows zero m/kph, if the speedo shows zero then the car thinks its stationary, how can the car then activate the ABS?

Go on, I reckon you can work out the rest for yourself ;)

I have never pushed my line of trade on here since STW stated, not exactly trying now, but we *maybe* taking in a 57 plate clubman diesel in PX next week. 1 owner, 13,000 miles with lots of spec, so far we have been bid £11,500 for it in the trade, so if you wanted to match the best offer then I may be able to wrangle it for you, it would be a trade sale, but I could sell it to a ‘mate’, who could sell it on to you with a warranty for an extra grand or so.

If your interested you’ll manage to find my email addy.
    Cheers.

I have freesat, I don’t think I’ve watched it since setting up the telly though.
If I didn’t have Virgin I would use it though, so if you want to save money then its the way to go, check out screwfix for the £40 dish & decoder deal if you want really cheap.

It only kicks in when your wheels are doing different speeds due to skidding.

    what b*llocks.

ABS is anti-lock braking. It works when your wheels lock up under braking

I think you’re thinking of traction control there matey

How does the car know that the wheels are locked sherlock?

Anyway, what would of happened to the OP if he didn’t have ABS, thats right folks he would of skidded straight on in to the nearest whatever.

I can tell you I bought a bin that looked liked a Brabantia, but it was a lot cheaper, & it broke after about a month.
I have now had a Brabantia bin for about three years & its still fine, the open/close operation is far superior, & pulling out the full bags is not a 2 man operation.
    Make your own mind up.

‘kitchen cabinets are the built-in furniture used for storage of food, cooking equipment, and often silverware and dishes for table service.thx!’

Phoned them back complaining that it didn’t answer the question, & after a few minute got given a customer complaint number, hmmm, thats my morning sorted tomorrow then ;)

Jedi, have you read about how Velcro was invented, fascinating!
Flaperon, I’m with you, I would love to know how they work (rushes off to google), now that is the sort of modern invention I was envisaging.

Don’t bother, just pay less for dvd’s & let the upscaling do its thing.
IME you just end up critiquing the picture & forget about the film itself.
Blu-ray is akin to being an audiophile & buying <insert latest bit of audio kit here> because its reputed to be the best.
At what point do you stop watching/listening to the equipment, & start to enjoy what you have put on for what it is?

All IMO obviously, and I do have a decent telly & a BR player.

Depends what age it is, if its an older one then you can ‘code’ the remote (about £80, but often found on ebay & VW forums for £30 upward)yourself, then get a new blade cut from the likes of thomsons, £10-15 & your sorted.
I used to have a Seat Leon & wanted a ‘flip key’ managed to get a new one sorted for less than £50 using the above info.
    Fingers crossed for you.
    Cheers.

Zappa, that’s worrying, surely if you pay by CC & the forks aren’t fit for purpose then your covered, even for postage?

My forks have a 189mm steerer, but there is a ‘chip’ about 8-10mm long where the hacksaw snaged when cutting it, it’s not effected them, but for me to sell then they would have a 180mm steerer, the same length CRC have for £389 in the miserly 85mm guise ;)

    2unfit2ride
    Free Member

Oh how I laughed, £470 for a carbon steerer, over £200 for a team, so with a service & postage I decided I may be better off buying a new set of forks.
I am not moaning about TF, they really couldn’t have been more helpful & friendly, more about the cost of RS spares. I’m still debating if its worth buying some reba sl’s from merlin & swapping the bits around, or just buying some new sids or fox talas.

    What would you do?

    Its a load of bollo…
Mine went fine, apart from the lack of anesthetic during the opp that was soon overcome with a quick douse.
Rode the bike down the pub the next day, no probs, but I really wouldn’t do anything to serious for a week or two.
The worst bit was the taping of the meat to the belly, not nice, but I’m glad he done it ;)

Just get the 911, I really can’t see how you’ll be disappointed, they are great cars.
I can’t think of a single alternative that will give as much pleasure, sure there are better load luggers, but I can’t think of a better everyday usable car.

You could try the Nokis E series, I have a E51, some minor issues with the button positions (which idiot put the delete button directly below the scroll down button FFS!), but it works, & its roughly phone shaped rather than brick sized.
I’m now looking for a smaller phone, & I could sacrifice the push email in favour of being able to go on-line & check, I miss my 6500 classic for its size & weight.
Let us know how you get on.

Rich, I hope you have a nice life, I so want to go in to the reasons your response was wrong, but whats the point, I guess it’s wasted anyway.

No Rich, you asked for advice, I gave it, not only to the best of my knowledge, but I took the time to check on cableforum.
You then ignored it & said you would wait, just what was the point of the post to begin with? Oh I get it, ask question, ignore answer, carry on as before.

Drac, yup, BBC HD, that’s it :(

Rich, I’m sorry, but why ask for advice & then totally ignore it?
FFS, I took the trouble to double check before I posted, but obviously thats not good enough, you want more.

Did you dupe virgin in to giving you the box for free, or did you just swap the price tag in the store?

Some people are takers in this life, others are givers, with the best will in the world, no prizes to the one which guesses which one you are* :(
