I used to be pretty good on a BMX back in the day, I spent virtually my entire youth at Harrow skate park, I used to be able to jump from the snake into the halfpipe & jump the fence to flat (8-10′ ?) I went back in the summer when they said it was going to close for good, I couldn’t do jack, fear is to be feared, breaking a collarbone when you are 15-16 is very different to when you are 38 & have a family to support!
Respect to the old boys still doing their thing (you know who you are) but for me it was just to much risk.

Some great examples on this thread, I think the Ti CK headset may be a contender, but TBH the 4 Ti peddles still seem to edge it, I mean 5x the price for a very small gain :)

My initial example was meant to show that the small things that no one notices can cost big money, the saddle above being an excellent example.
Its like paying the extra £50 for a hope Ti cassette hub, no body is ever going to see it, only you know it’s there, but you still fork out the extra for a very minor gain.

I believe the point I think you are making it very valid, disproportionate accountability is not a good way forward, but it’s happened.

It’s such a shame bike shops have to pay rent/rates/staff/expenses etc, otherwise biking would be cheap.

Tomorrow I’m going to go to work & tell them not to pay me as I just love my job & that is thanks enough. If everyone else joins me I think biking will become a very cheap hobby, but I still can’t see how we would be able to fund it :(

Years later he bought a new bike, I asked if I could have my old one back (nowt great, a Raleigh SP bike) & he told me he had bought it from me & it was his, oh how I laughed!

I’m with sonic, if I had paid tuppance hapeny for a working bike & it didn’t work I’d be peed off.
If he paid for a frame & forks you cobbled together to make in to a working bike, then tough.
The onus is on you to decide how your description was interpreted, if you described it as a working bike, & it doesn’t, then give the money back, end of.

Oh, if it was me I’d refund & go again with a fair description, but thats just me ;)

My last couple of FS bikes have had 3.7″ rear travel. I recently put on a 130mm fork, and immediately wound it down to 115mm, chances are I’ll eventually settle at ‘about 100’, 6″ travel bikes are for the alps aren’t they?

To all, I think I side with that other discussion on here, there is no excuse for spitting, it never happened before the current influx of superstars, so why not ban him for life?
If something is unacceptable, then it remains so, banning for a game or two just sends out the wrong message.
