Sorry, I didn’t mean to sound negative, it just bought back fond memories of STW years ago. :)

Labrat wrote the saddest thread I have ever seen on STW, glad your back to the lighter side of life.
    Cheers.

    Top class ernie, top class.
Remind me, what was your previous log in name? ;)

BTW, to defend myself from the horror of owning a ‘Site’ drill, I bought mine as the charger was the same as my makita one which failed. Buying the Site ‘package’ with a drill, two battery’s & the charger was cheaper than a makita charger on it’s own. Getting a drill was a bonus, & I use it more than the heavier makita combi for driving purposes, & it’s just as good.

I LOL very loudly at you weekend warriors with your “site” drills…does it make ya feel tough eh? Working with a big RED drill that says “SITE” on it…???

Lol @ ‘a tradesman’ feeling superior to me, you win ;o)

Second the Site, I bought one for £50 when they were on special after my Makita charger broke, it was cheaper to buy the drill then it was to buy a new Makita charger, the best thing is they use the same charger so I now have two drills. :)

Faceplate cracking is normally user error, now if a main body broke, then I’d be worried.

All of it is old kit, I don’t seem to get on with long travel bikes, I purposely bought the Burner (new this year!) to replace to Azonic as I felt it was a bit small for me.

My thinking was to build the Burner as my main bike, SS the pipedream, make a 4X type bike out of the Azonic & hang the stiffee (original round tube) on the wall!

Considering the worth of the Azonic, & the very little use it would get I was thinking of just selling it on ebay, but wasn’t sure :(

    Faceplate or body?
    If it’s the body I’m worried…

I was bored whilst waiting to go out, but I thought I’d kill the 10 minutes whilst I was waiting posting up what is a real dilemma for me.
None of the bits are hypothetical, I have them all, two bikes are currently built, I thought it may be an opportunity to find out if my current thinking was what most would do.

I could keep to two, or make three, or sell the third, or keep the bits in the shed/loft where they currently reside.
**** it, off to listen to music & drink more beer, as I can’t be arsed now.

To the side is a good option, putting the split on the left is definitely better than putting it on the right.

Spesh Sworks enduro (6″), I hated it with a passion, why would anybody, & there are lots of people on here that will disagree , want a 6″ bike with XC angles?
Totally beyond me, but each to there own, Oh & a norco thing with adjustable travel, again to XC for me.

Nice to see you have settled with the springer Pepper, I was going to suggest a border as its smaller, we just got another…

I’m interested in this subject too, whats the best way to heat enough water for four showers in under an hour at a ‘power shower’ rate of 18L per minute, assuming 5-8 minutes for each shower & a conventional boiler?
    Cheers in advance.

No rust on the frame is not the same as no rust on a steel BB, if you think it’s to tight it probably is, don’t chance it on an expensive frame, shock works well to get a BB moving, but if it remains tight then there must be a reason.

    Good luck (again).

I had this problem yesterday (driveside) I used a quick clamp(it will give a bit) to hold the tool on, much like above, then i used a **** off pair of adjustable’s and smacked it very hard with a lump hammer to shock it(clockwise) & hey presto once it moves a touch it will keep going(remember if you use a clamp, especially like above, you won’t get far as you are fighting the clamp), if the threads are really rusty then get some penetrating fluid on there & go back & forth, do not try to get it out in one go as you could ‘pull’ the threads.
    Good luck ;o)

Email him, he’s a very nice chap.

If you can’t get hold of him then mail me for the poplock removal article he did, it includes basic service instructions.

    Cheers.

Well there was a possibility you were going to name & shame, so Karma says you must give credit where it’s due.
They sound like a very good LBS to me, although I bet the shop conversation was all but favorable to STW & the like… ;)

My eggs are Ci Series Ci400, I can’t say I have really listened to the other models, so I can’t comment.

    Have fun choosing.

I have Kef egg front’s, the Ci160.2QS ceiling speakers for the rear, Q6C center & a nice REL sub, it’s an OK setup, not quite the same as B&W floor standers, but it keeps the wife happy

I now listen to music through Sennheiser HD 595’s & a Marantz CD7300, but thats what family life is about so I’m told :(

So your about £1200 out of pocket?
How about going back & asking the bloke to repeat what you asked whilst candidly recording it, if he says 200mm, then your proper fecked :(

On the plus side if he says 220mm your LBS owes you for 2 new sets of forks, sorted.
I can’t think of a better way of going about it, if you start by saying they got it wrong they will be very defensive…

My Turner Burner weighs far to much, I thought it would be around 25Lbs, nearer 28 :(

On the plus side this has inspired me to make my Ti hardtail SS & rigid again, I still doubt it will be sub 20Lbs with very light kit though.

Or here if fotopic have messed with the settings again.

In order of the cars posted so far I would have the
    993
    M3 (original LHD only)
Mk11 golf (Ive owned 7) in 16V with no PAS please.
    Intergrally

I have owned several expensive cars, some just don’t work really, but if some fecker comes out and says they have owned one of these

Then I will get really quite cross ;)

How about you tell us what area your in, then if we can find a willing long term STW member to send all the stuff to, the member then meets you at your house to ‘evaluate’ you, meet your parents and we go from there?

I’m all for helping a fellow cyclist out, but unfortunately many in the past have taken advantage of the free flowing good nature of this forum & made us cynical.

I would give parts and/or money if you would agree.
    Sound fair?

Cheers all for the extra replies, but as I said above I bought one the other day, I got the Primus Eta power, & very nice it is too :)
It arrived today & a quick outdoor test showed it can do 1/2 litre in just under 3 minutes, & just over a litre in 5 minutes.
The thing has an awsome flame on it, and they claim 80% efficiency so it supposed to cut down on consumption.

Thanks again to Teetosugars who gave me a discount code, top bloke!

    Cheers.

Well it was chuffing windy on the beach, but not on the campsite.
I tried the cheapo stove a little earlier & it wasn’t bad, about 7 minutes to boil 2 decent cupfuls, it just doesn’t seem to work outside :(
I’ll try it outside in a bit, but I don’t hold out much hope.
    Cheers.

    Teetosugars,
    Dropped, cheers.

Pinkstiffee, thanks, both the jetboil & the Primus are remote & come with ‘heat exchangers’.
    Cheers.
