Great skills, looks like he would rather be on something more like a trials bike though given the amount the suspension was moving about ;-)

From the article, “We don’t pay a lot but we try and make sure we have fun and everyone has a pension”

Isn’t having a pension law, or am I missing something, do STW go above & beyond what the law requires?

FWIW I subscribe but never read the virtual mags & I don’t post much so I guess I get little for my subs, I’ll continue to do so though, I like STW & it’s one of the few forums I bother looking at as it still has fewer trolls/knobs than most.

    Cheers.

PS, I emailed STW years ago when they wen’t digital & said that the £1 trail would get you access to all the previous mags/ content, I thought it was a silly decision to make as why would anyone who wants digital mag content sign up for a year/decades when £1 every year gets it all albeit at a slower pace. Ho hum.

    Ouch at the price.

sharkattack, sadly not, I think it’s 2003 & never had proper use.

as for the Stealth ad, I’m happy to pass things on if I could get a decent price or you can prove you have a genuine interest in the bike & not just looking for a cheap frame, I would rather sell the Turner to a real enthusiast who would display/ use it as that is what it deserves.

    cheers.

It’s not crap,it’s just not worth selling for what it’s woth. The repair on the Pegasus cost me £100,what could I get £250? I would be gutted to sell it for that given what I have paid out.

If anyone had a museum for old bikes I would donate the frames I have on the condition that they couldn’t be sold for profit, I had a Muddy Fox interactive that went to an enthusiast for very little on the same terms, I just don’t want to sell stuff I paid a fortune to buy for so little it makes me cry 😭

Try one of the mattresses with a trial period, you have nothing to lose, I tried one & sent it back before the trial period ended & bought a decent pocket mattress without a topper as I find them to warm. I found it very firm to begin with but now it has worn in a bit I really appreciate the support it gives.

PS I really wanted to try a Tempur but they weren’t doing a trial period at the time, they do now & although they are very expensive I wouldn’t hesitate to give one a go.

    Cheers.

If you think windscreens are APITA then try hitting the front of a Q7 (all of STW own them right?) You can write the car off if the collision camera can’t be aligned afterwards, that’s a whole lot of ££££ worth of scrap.

Not on a Park pump but my floor pump does that if I use the schrader side, I have to take the head apart & put it back together & all is well in the world until I next use the schrader <shrug>

I used to really appreciate the man, he is a great entertainer & a very witty man, but the way he dropped Paul Gascoigne when he was in trouble has made me think again.

    My opinion for FWIW.

I think the main problem is the generation gap, your parents would probably never of thought of doing a similar extension partially out of respect to their neighbours, people now don’t care & will do whatever it takes to get there own way.

I would now be a proper PITA if someone wanted to do similar to me, builders/neighbours will say whatever it takes  to get there own way, but isn’t it funny that any work that effects you is always scheduled last?

Make sure your agenda is the priority & if they “run out of money” then it really is their problem.

    Cheers.

I have one, a bit like this but in stainless steel.

    ht

I haven’t used fuel in it for quite some time as there is little to no heat & there is also a bit of a smell, still it looks quite nice with 3 candles & pebbles in it ;-)

If anyone wants to buy some fuel & can collect from north london then drop me an email, I have about 30 1l bottles in the garage that I don’t want a lot for.

I really hate this subject now, after a pair of Hunter boots that lasted me over 10 years before failing the next pair lasted me a year, I then went on to an even more expensive pair of Aigle boots, lasted just over a year before failing at the heal(yes I used a boot jack). I have repaired them with shoo gloo & they are holding up so far but my next pair will be cheap ones as I just don’t see the value of expensive wellies that only last a year or two.

I bought a 18v Bosch twin pack from scewfix, seemed really good value to me at £130, slightly more now though.

If anyone does want a decent 4K DVD player, and I know that the market is limited, then drop me a line, I have a mate who bought a job lot of brand new Samsung M9000’s that I/ he can do for £150 plus postage if needed.
I want to make it clear that I won’t earn a penny from them & if the mods think this is advertising then please feel free to pull the post :?:

At some point the other side of the story has to come out & I don’t think it will end well, nearly £150 to post a bike, really, did you book a cab?

Ps I hope your son is now ok.

OP, have a look at NAD amps, I used to have one & it was very musical, I got rid of it as they didn’t do 4K & HDMI pass through at the time, they do now. Saying that the Denon that I have now is pretty ok, for music I run a pair of Kef Q5 SE’s, bi amped as I don’t need 7 channels, in the ‘pure’ mode. The Kef’s are a very compact floor stander that will tolerate being placed close to the wall due the shape of the cabernet & being front ported, I do have a stupidly large REL Stadium sub to re-enforce them though :D

If you can see the whole convo then it includes a ban or two, but anyway, time for bed.
Thanks for what you do (and the other mods) this place only exists because of the effort of those that care & put in the effort that most wouldn’t consider doing, let alone for free.

If you like sound quality, & assuming you are not sitting in the back, then just fade to the front or disconnect the rear speakers. How often do you find orchestral/ band members behind you if you go to a concert?

I got bored reading after the first few pages, but it did inspire me to look back at the amount of warnings & bans I have received since the GoFar days. Most of those threads still exist in the archives & there were some proper tools posting back then as there is now (probably me included), nothing really changes except old members stop posting & newer members take up the mantel.

It’s the circle of life (for forums), but apart from the founder members (inc the one who can’t be named) it was Drac that gave me my first warning as a non paid mod, god only know why he still does it, but chapeau to all those who give their time to keep this forum going, its still a great resource.

Some of us appreciate what the mods do & I would like to say thanks for doing it, this place wouldn’t exist without you all :D

My moneys on that the shop sold your PX for more money than they paid for it & don’t want to lose that profit, quite why they would jeopardise that by not refunding you the original amount makes me think they are short on cash flow & have to stick to the original story or they get in trouble for not being upfront to begin with.

That or your half of the story is very misleading :?

    Even money bet

That sounds like you need to set the channels up yourself.
EG, set FL, FR, RL & RR to 80htz, set sub to 80htz but set centre to 120htz & increase volume it by +4db 8)

I find that some films are just that way inclined, yet it does seem to be worse on DTS encoded films, maybe it’s the coding or maybe its the type of films that end up using DTS as the main stream, they seem to be quite action/explosion orientated.
You could eliminate DTS as the issue by changing the option to DD or Dolby 2.0 in the DVD menu. Another option would be to disconnect the .1 (sub) as that will have a fairly high X-over point of about 120-150 htz which causes mayhem with deep male voices (Liam Neeson especially ).

FWIW I have found changing from eggs to floor standers & turning the roll off point of the sub to 60 htz has helped a lot but sometimes it’s just the way the film was encoded that’s the problem.

    HTH.
