Find a second hand REL sub for peanuts?
Very controllable, easy to integrate in to a system (relative), self powered so no need for extra kit, win win!

A Q100 can be found for less than £100.

    Cheers.

It makes no difference to me that he is 'one of us', but it's a sad loss of one brave enough to defend his country, I hope his parents are proud, & at the same time coping with the grief.
You may be thinking that he was not defending his country, simply serving the politicians, I would disagree, if we don't fight terrorism then it will fight us, only harder & less discriminatingly.

1kg on wheels & tyres, bloody hell, thats a lot, not sure I want to spend a grand on wheels & tyres though.

    Ian,

I have tried it SS & rigid

I have also tried big wheels

That was fun, in a nervous way ;)

I have avoided buying anything this year, up until now, a first for me as I normally buy three frames a year, just don't call me Hora…

Really? I used to be quite prolific in my posting way (edit, lame joke removed)back when, then the forum got a tad silly, you have no idea quite how close I was to just deleting my account again.
It was a semi serious question to begin with.

aracer, I want to keep my bike functional, I know what your saying about forks, but having owned Sid's in the past, I have no desire to go back that in that direction.
Wheels will be my next target, although I don't want anything silly light, I haven't had a puncture in ages, touch wood.
Mr Munro above knows a thing or two about light, but then he is a good enough rider to get away with it.

CA, but a new chain, rings & jockey wheels would of cost a fair chunk, so that needs to come off the total, but yes, silly money really, but then needs V's want is priceless ;)

CA, was that a dig at the grammar?

BTW the brakes are Fomula SL's & the frame is a tripple butted Ti Pipedream, peddles are eggbeater Sl's.

    :)

I should post a pic, maybe tomorrow now though.
Wheels are hope XC with Ti hub, 717's & butted spokes, tyres are Shwalbe fast fred light (350g). Stem is FSA 115, bars are salsa carbon flat with specialized grips, forks are reba WC, seat & saddle are SDG Fomula SX & carbon post, litespeed clamp.

I can't think of much kit that weighs less than the above, so just how do people get to 18lbs, let alone 20? :(

Who was the minger on earlier 'singing' about kissing another women?
My word she really couldn't sing.
Its amazing what 'singers' get away with these days, take away the studio & my daughter is more tuneful.
Are S, A & W still in charge of the charts?

Or sod the leg work, & just ask them to replace it like for like as you can't find one for that amount & its what your entitled to.
    It normally works.

    Hi spangelsaregreat,

TBH I don’t use lights enough to really make a fair comparison, the Lumi I used was just a 12w spot, and it was always fine for me, I bought the bastid light as it weighs a lot less. I have tried to compare it to a 20w flood by shining it at a tree then turning on the bastid, the bastid light won by quite a margin.
Hopefully someone more qualified will be alone soon…

It may be practical to numb the pain with booze, but you didn’t spare a thought for the people on the train you selfish wotsit, one person dying horribly V’s 100’s having to endure an extra ten minutes on the journey home, think man.

Mines been fine the couple of times I’ve tried it, yes to me it’s quite green (it’s my light that Trout tested), but my main bugbear so far is still the use on road, you just can’t use it in flashing or low mode as the beam is so wide that unless you point it straight down the residual light still illuminates signs 10′ high 100′ away.
It’s mental compared to my old Lumi setup :)
Oh mine took about ten days to come.
    Cheers.

Many thanks JY, although I’m not quite sure of the first line of your post, I can see your saying it can take a 14 tooth difference, so assuming I don’t try big/big or small/small I should be fine.

STW does strange things to my head, I mean I immediately wanted to say thanks to Brant, as I’m on-line. But my head said not to as I hadn’t thanked everybody else personally (as I was at work earlier) for fear of perceived arse licking, but sod it…

    Thanks Brant :)

Now, are we sure Brant is right? ;)

Thanks for all the replies, it got quite serious for a while, very amusing ;)
Can you actually buy that foam, or even carbon wrap for that matter?
Maybe I’ll just have to use some fiberglass!

So, you have a frame made from Ti, a material that people always eulogise over for its suppleness and give – and you want to make it stiffer..?

    Crazy person.

Probably, but stiffness in certain areas is a good thing, I’m told it’s how you have children
    ;)

    bent_udder – Member
A higher resale value, I suppose.

Out of interest, how do you know it’s BB flex? Genuine question – are you getting tyre rub, noticeable flex or something else?

The front mech rubs on the chain under load, fine if your pottering along though, a touch annoying, but not the end of the world.

    Cheers.

7907g so well sub 18lb. Could easily loose another lb if I wanted a bike that I never fancied actually riding.

I have no idea what I’m doing wrong, but my tripple butted pipedream Ti frame with pace RC31’s, Ti BB, 350g tyres & Ibeam carbon post & FX saddle, also SS, weighed in at about 20/21lbs, ho hmmm.

possiby a second (missing) piece that held the cartrige?

I think the reason it unscrews is so the cartridge can sit inside, it looks like it anyway.

not really that much to do untill one fails
if the charger goes pop then I am sure Smudge can fit you up with a new one , same goes for the cells.
the P7 could be replaced with a newer model about $20 ish
same goes for the circuit the stock item is very cheap but works and a good one will add a bit of cost
so not really worth the cost unless one fails

In that case I’ll chuck it your way when it does then ;)
    Cheers.

Trout, how about I send you a new one, you mod it to how good you think these lights can be, with new electronics & charger, then I send you my original set that you reviewed as payment?

From my point of view I get a decent light for £100, from your point of view you get a ‘swaper’ for making a sideline modifying others dead/dying/alive DX’s, that is of course unless the bits would cost a few bob.

    Viable?

I’d be interested in knowing how much the internals would cost to put right.

BTW, the light doesn’t get hot unless it’s on full, but as the low setting still kills my old Lumi’s I’m happy enough, thanks for you effort putting it right.

    Cheers.

Could of been worse, you could of gone out for a quick 12 mile ride at midday wearing ‘normal’ clothes & undercrackers, then put in an extra 10 miles, that was hot (& sweaty) balls ;)

Hi Trout, bad news indeed, but have you thought of a mod for them yet?

    Lets assume…

1, The housing & led are good, but the electronics are shite
2, The batteries are OK, but the charger is shite

Between you & smudge I’m sure you could come up with something that would cater for dying/dead DX lights that would bag you a few quid each???
