My god, is the picture above level one OCD or is it level 10000000 CDO? ;-)

2unfit2ride has the best home office chair!

    @2unfit2ride

What chair is that? Where from and how much? 😀

You really don’t want to know the cost, my wife calls it the star trek chair, it came from a used office furniture supplier & I’m yet to get over the cost but it is the most comfortable thing I have ever sat in.

Why do people need multiple computers or screens? Surely you can only operate one at a time & you can always use split screen if needed?

I have spoken to them today & had some better news than expected as the majority of the policy was already guaranteed & not affected by the current situation, so I’ll add some numbers to my options.

1, If I surrender today it will cover 72% of the initial sum
2, The least it will cover if I leave it until maturity is a guaranteed 66.6%
3, The most it will cover if I leave it until maturity is up to 100% (but unlikely)

So my “gamble” at present is only -6 to +28% so I’ll stick with it until the end.

Thanks for all the input & FWIW I already have the money to cover any shortfall based on the numbers above.

    Cheers.

    is it With Profits?

Yes, & it has a guaranteed future value which is some £15k less than the last surrender value.

Don’t they switch away from risky shares as it nears maturity?

No idea, I really should look into it more but just a bit worried about it ATM.

    Cheers.

Still confused but thanks for the reply’s, it feels like I’m being forced to take another gamble or take the money now although I don’t dare to call them to see how much it has devalued since the last letter in january.
    Ho hum, it’s only money…

I enjoy it but don’t get out enough.

IMO you really need a decent tent so you do actually enjoy using it. this normally means more space than you think you need & metal framed* (Robens tents are great but expensive) so it really stays put if your’e thinking of using it in this country, once practiced it only takes 2 competent people 10 minutes to put up & slightly less to take down if you don’t need to clean it up, if you do then the extra time depends on your OCD.

*disclaimer, I also have a new family sized metal framed tent for sale.

PS a mate that sells the latest & greatest recently offered me a couple of Pioneer Kuro sets for nothing, one 50″ & the other a 60″, as great as the picture is & yes they are/were the benchmark I just couldn’t put up with the bulk of them, my mate got the 50″ & it’s stunning even at nearly 10 years old :-(

I’ve seen the stage show & it didn’t make me bawl (natch)like that.
Ps I knew some would pull me up on the bawled /balled thing, I need a better (more English) spell checker 🤷‍♂️

Stick some rigid forks on it & some super light weight components & re-live the nineties dream, I can even lend you a drill if you like :-)

Yes, I have used 80mm (BITD) forks, 100mm forks, 440mm rigid forks & 470mm rigid forks on mine, I actually built it up again yesterday with the 470mm forks & it feels fine for such an old bike compared to my modern Merida.

    Cheers.

You’re missing the point, money is one thing but job satisfaction is another, if you can combine both than you have half a chance, I know you said it’s not a long term thing but you need to be happy unless you have another option in the pipeline.

So sell motorbikes then, the key is to have an interest, or the customer will more than likely know it & treat you appropriately, no fun for either of you.

PS, I have only been in the job for 33 years, still love it some times ;-)

Well I couldn’t work for a main agent, I think my key is to enjoy the work I do, maybe that’s why you went on to own your own bike shop?
Maybe back stabbing your colleges, attending meetings where you are told to sell more & the targets move every time you get near them & then selling your sole for a few quid is for you, but I doubt you would get any satisfaction from it.

    Cheers.

They called me today & the bloke was very helpful & willing to do me a good deal so I have gone back to them, shame I had to cancel to be given a good deal but I suppose its the way of the world now.

Well I tried, best for the basic package was £52 so I have cancelled, I did try & tell them I had not had any discount of note in the last year & would they give me the same offers as they do new customers but they weren’t interested. I might give Now TV a go.

    Cheers.

No signs although I know where it used to come in the property, it’s just that next door has had an extension which means it’s now underneath it :(

Thanks once more, it seems dealing with a 3rd party to install a new line will be a better bet, the house is 1970’s so I doubt there is a grey duct anywhere but the BT manhole is only 50cm from the end of my drive so I assume they can run it from there.

    Cheers.

I did, they said no as I’m not a new customer.

Cheers all, Speedtest shows mine at 50 but it is super consistent & never wavers, I had 150 before I got them to price match BT & they throttled it but I think what I have now is more stable. The tit for tat story is interesting & I can well believe that kind of stuff goes on.

Agree, but I think that goes for any large shared space tent and perhaps for ‘family car camping’ itself.

I got to the point of buying an Outwell Drumond 7 & a towbar for my passat estate that already had a large roofbox before I realised it was about the same money to hire a static without the hassle of the set up & the extra cost of the trailer on the ferry, so they sit unused in the loft, once the kids get older camping becomes a faff, have I ever mentioned about the time my eldest ruined my last brand new tent by burning the built in groundsheet with her hair straighteners? I kid you not!

I think Bell tents can only be a family tent when the kids are very young, or the ‘family’ have a very liberal view on life, once puberty strikes I fear for the arguments though I’m way past that stage.

So your sure all of the bikes had been derestricted then?

Sorry to highjack but if anyone is after a proper family tent then I have an unused Drummond 7 tent with footprint I need to get rid of, £300 & can chuck in some other camping stuff if needed ;-)
