Thanks for the reply, I suspect it’s 2010/11 as it has a straight steerer, as for the price it would be unfair of me to say but its not hard to find out how much they were new 😉

Hi all, I thought I would have another look at this thread & I see there have been more replies, so lets start with dantsw13 question, its EA04 R**, the car was registered in north London, if the first four match then I guess I’ll drop you an email, but how much did you sell it for?

I did have an issue with what looked like oil in the expansion tank but has not re-occurred since a flush & re-fill. The funny thing is that there is a scam going around which involves two people inspecting a car you have for sale & whilst one gets your attention toward the back end of the car the other drops some dirty oil in to your expansion tanks & then gives you a low ball offer after bringing it to your attention.

I would also like to thank Sandwich for telling me about the Audi service campaign, I now have 6 new free coilpacks, top man, many thanks.

It turned out to be the chain sensor, so that was a straight forward fix.

I have had a few unexpected issues, the rear coil springs were broken so I got a H&R lowering set for £180, four new tyres, four wheel refurbs, full four wheel alignment, a full service along with DSG & Haldex service.
Still to come will be front & rear bumper repaint & both front driveshafts need to be rebuilt with new boots.
Thankfully I have only paid for parts at trade prices with no labour charge. So far I think I have spent about £1000 including the CV boots which are yet to be fitted.

Fuel economy wise it hurts, today I was jubilant to have achieved 30mpg on my 50 mile commute, average overall is showing 25.5 mpg & this is with a light right foot, it was 30 in the S3.

Cheers for all the replies & I’ll update if I have anything of interest to add.

    Cheers.

Just use duckduckgo, that brings up content of no relevance to the search criteria so it must be from the dark side of the web.

Keavny is fine by me, he is entertaining in a way that very few DJ’s manage, i.e. interesting chat between the records rather than the Shane or Christian default which is to promote themselves above the listener entertainment.
There, I have said it, but this is from a man the bemoans the demise of Phil Jupitus & a certain Sir Terry, just make Shaun do Janet & John stories & I’ll be happy.

    This

I always wanted one (not my photo), bought one & then realised it was shit, I still wish I had it though.

I have one, cost about £100 when Robert Dyas had them on special, fitted it myself as it was easy & I’m happy with the results (Hertfordshire), less happy with the cost of replacement filters, but the kettle needs a lot less attention & it tastes nice straight from the tap (3 month filter change or I can taste it at month 4)
    HTH.

Many thanks all, especially bikebouy for the time taken to reply, I’m going to change the crank sensor first, then the cam position sensors, then the timing chain & then burn it if the light doesn’t go out 😉

    Cheers.

Thanks for all the comments guys, fuel economy isn’t my biggest concern, but DSG is worrying me a bit!

bikebouy, you say you know a bit about the engines, mine has the fault code P1347 for the camshaft & more worryingly P1617 which relates to glow plugs which I clearly don’t have, any idea?

    Cheers.

The engine check light is cam position sensors, which could mean a stretched timing chain, gulp.

But it drives great & makes a nice noise 😉

Not a problem, I could obviously act as the warranty “middle man” but as I bought it from alltricks then I wasn’t that bothered about the warranty anyway, my main concern was finding a 27.2, have you actually found any in stock yet? I was told Thomson were no longer making these so websites saying 7 days from the supplier will be of no use.

    Cheers.

I may well have one for sale, it’s been used for one ride & apart from the cut cable it’s as new. I’m not going to give it away but I would sell it if the price is right, my email is in my profile if your interested.
    Cheers.

PP, Sonus fits the bill if you connect via the network ( I assume you can as your inside where the mains ring is), or the B&W offerings if you want BT which is where I would spend my money.
I’m also surprised no one has mentioned the Cambridge audio yet.

All dannyh has alluded to is that steel looks better than carbon, but the latter is the better product. I would stake money on him preferring to drive the latter even if he would rather own the former (and who wouldn’t) 😉

There are loads of post’s on this at the moment, search in google using STW in the search, it’s better than the STW default.

If you were REALLY into washing your car you would be out taking photographs, then posting them on Detailing World for everyone to geek out on and admire the beading of the waterdrops on the freshly waxed surface…

It is quite a beautiful thing to be fair.

I think the moment has passed, it’s a black car & it’s dark outside, but I’ll give it a go if you want? 😉

Waxed mine last night and it was raining this morning when I left for work. I wasn’t too happy!

Surely that’s why you wax a car, protection from the elements?

Don’t shoot me, but I sell fast German cars, sometimes the entry level spec is the best bang for you buck & will runs ring around cars from other manufacturers that offer spec as standard for the same money.
It’s a bit like buying bike from the likes of On-one rather than Santa cruz, except it’s the other way around 😉

m0rk, is that a banana in your pocket or are you just pleased to see the subject of Seat come up?
    Are you still running cupra?
I used to frequent there & went to a few of the herts meets & a silverstone one where I met you 😀

Oh & WBAC plus a few hundred if you shop around, +1K if you sell privately & have patience.

Really? I used to go to proper violent meetings but they were 1980’s football matches & although people around me were getting knifed having a bit of difficulty I as a yoof who showed no interest in being involved, had no trouble not getting nicked, I think the police are just doing a job. Much like social workers, they will never get it right for everyone.

I tried a fireline & it was really nice to look at & indeed ride, but it was not quite the “do it all” bike I was looking for, I felt quite perched on it. My mate is selling an early Fileline (search it) medium frame for £300 if you want something to try that you could sell on for little loss if yo don’t like it 😀

I’m not sure why I watched it, but compulsion took over & I got to the end, that’s when the text commentary announced that the crowd ran to avoid kettling.

How would an innocent peaceful protester be aware enough to run to avoid an aggressive police tactic if they had done nothing wrong to be worth running for?

I have a mate that said he would sell his early 18″ fireline (fileline) for sensible money, mail me if you want me to ask him exactly how much is sensible 🙂

Just checked them & the rear is at about 20 psi, the front has held well though.

What don’t you trust them for?
I thought I was running on the rim, IE I thought I had a flat to begin with at 60psi.

    2unfit2ride

SF,I read somewhere about the 50 psi, but it was not stated on the packaging or the tyre, both of which I read…

I was right with you up until the last, I even started a thread similar, I went with the Bonty CX0 in 38, but they do a smaller size.

That reminds me, I need to toddle off & say thanks.

    Cheers.

If it’s 12v+ with that connector then someone is a very bad installer, anything other that an earth then shot the person who wired it, you’ll be doing everyone a favour 😉

Edit, unless it goes to the amp end, but hard to tell from your pic.

I also ride a large MK1, I’m 6′ & run a 70mm stem & 700mm flat bars with 440mm On-one carbon rigid’s or old skool RC31’s if I’m trying to save weight (they normally last one ride before I swap them back again 😉 ).
The bike is great for longer rides & surprisingly good in singletrack thanks to the steep head angle.

I’m currently thinking of putting some CX tyres on it as I don’t want a road or CX bike & I use another bike for more normal fun rides.

Maybe polishing a turd was the wrong phrase, but it is a cheap frame if you compare on-one carbon with other carbon frame manufacturers.

    Cheers.
