Wouldn’t ride any yet, Been at the past 4 dig days and the 1km mark has been reached by the volunteers, more help would be needed as there is a push to break out to the next fire road on the 3rd of May (Sunday) 10-14:00pm tea an biscuits provided. The more people who help the more money the project gets which means better trails for all. There’s a facebook group set up and if you go on line and search for the forest of bowland I think there is a link to the volunteer section.

Walking all the sections is ok, riding them before they have time to settle means more work in the long run as bits will have to be repaired so best not to really. I know I haven’t an I’m helping to build it!

The tracks look fantastic, pics are on the facebook group an ALL are welcome to the dig days,

    Cheers Scott

As TJ says, with the wheel removed should be the same. I have a hope Xc hub an mine will spin for ages, as for the bearings is there any side to side motion in the hub? or when spinning the wheel in your hands holding the end caps, does there feel like a knocking like the bearings are catching on something? Replacement bearings are easy to come by an don’t cost much. Plus they are a piece of piss to replace.

Had the same things happen to me. Went for a training ride down the canal towpath, did 17miles then came back via the A6, what a mistake!! I saw 2 crashes an some shocking overtaking! Got to a major motorway junction where a nice Twunt pulled out in front of me, whilst I was going 23mph then he pulled into the kerb to block me off, His windows were down so I reminded him that he was a twunt an then got in front were he rather sheepishly stayed a good distance behind. Next junction the same thing happened!!!!!! with a different car! I’m staying off the roads form now on.

    Do the northface trail,

I took my GF, for her first mountain bike ride there. She got round no problems as it really isn’t that hard.

wouldn’t recommend bombing off down the last drop as she may get pissed at you for that.

    enjoy.

    Shocking.

When I broke my arm for the second time on the northface trail, I was soon helped by a couple walking as well as the chaps I was riding with, then five other bikers who came past. Also the ranger picked me up and dropped me off at the car which was nice of him. I always stop to help or at least slow and ask if they’re ok. I hope your lady is ok. If people cycled past my girlfriend (who is also very inexperienced) an she was in trouble, I would be very angry and upset an may find my temper at boiling point!!!

    hope she gets well soon.

    Opinions from the Sun lol
If you actually thought about my opinions you could probably see where my allegiance lies, and probably gives much more away about my lifestyle. Criticise me for not being quite so independant for having taken onboard a viewpoint to match my way of life, but from your posts then your opinions are just as un-indepedant as mine. There is very little independant thought truly left and instead we are all voicing our shared beliefs – fun isn’t it!

Anyway, my new film rental came through the post today and I’m quite looking forward to it ;) Nighty night xo xo

Ourmaninthenorth, taking away the principle and discussing context then. Yes the Police should, and do need to use violence against citizens who are displyaing active resistance towards them. As clearly documented in law Police Officers can use reasonable force, ultimately the decision on what is reasonable does come down to the individual Officer at the time. Should a decision be made that is incorrect then the Officer will be dealt with firstly under Police Regulations and should it be decided that criminal proceedings should be taken then they will.
Even the thought that some believe that the option to use force when faced with violence and agression (be it active of passive) should be taken away scares me more than the thought of facing up to a mob of angry protestors.

Very much so, I’m also aware that they work together and Mountain Rescue is sometimes staffed by volunteer off duty Police Officers, my point was about advancements in technology not the finer points of responsibilty for mountain sides.

By all means attack my spelling, punctuation and grammar, but you can hardly criticise me for lack of imagination and independant thought considering I’m one of the few who has actually considered this from an alternate angle. Besides I thought my post concerning an alternative way of handling a protest was rather imaginative :)

Things have changed. And don’t like it

Well Grizzlygus, when you come off your bike in the middle of the hillside and the Police and Mountain Rescue utilise cell siting to find you location to within a mile and then put on their top of the line outdoor gear, locate you, place you in a helicopter and fly you to hospital. This probably wouldn’t have happened in 1969 either, but I’m damn sure you wouldn’t protest against their support in this matter.

Things have changed, equipment has improved, Officers get hurt so they are given the appropriate equipment for the job in hand, much like builders have to wear hardhats and safety boots, Police Officers have helmets and flame retardent overalls and stab vests. The right tool for the right job, so to speak.

I’ve witnessed police brutality on every demonstration

    ….

it’s what they’re trained to do

Of course its what they’re trained to do – how else would they know what to do.
And as for brutality… would you rather the Police Officers saunter up to people in the street and in their best most politest manner tap the protestor on the shoulder and quietly ask them if they wouldn’t mind awfully leaving. Followed by an explaination of how they’re only doing their job and it would make them look much better to their bosses if people did what they asked.

lol the British Police really would be the laughing stock of the World!

Here you are accusing me of stupidity and ignorance when I have only voiced an alternative point of view. The entirity of this string is based on a snippet of video of a much larger and longer running incident. Unless you were there either as the Police or as a protestor in that moment and directly preceeding it you cannot comment on whether excessive force was used and if Mr Tomlinson wasn’t really all that innocent. It is extremely conveniant for the media to show Police in this manner attacking a seemingly defenceless man who was doing nothing more than walk down the street with his hands in his pockets. They don’t comment on the four or five bobbies who try to push him out of the way first using less force do they! He would have been very aware if the Police by this point.

I may have opinions that you don’t agree with but to base your opinions solely on a small piece from a media group – who’s sole aim is to sell papers, then surely that it far more ignorant than I!

Say what you will, I don’t like the G20 protests or the protesters for that matter. Police get too much crap for what is a VERY tough job, I admit there not all perfect however it seems everyone has a dislike to them for some reason or another. Id like to see a society without them, o yeah that was crap to. In terms of freedom of speach, you can have all you want as no one will listern anyway. So why waste your time protesting.

The way in which I see it, is that the Police Officer lost their cool at a man who clearly seems to be taking the piss by walking far too slow when being asked to move on. Pushing him over may seem harsh but I wouldn’t like to be a PC, having to deal with all the scum who go round damaging property etc for what they say is a good cause. I would have liked to see the water cannons used and have a zero tolerance on any civil disorder. Protests can be peaceful and should be. Damaging property an attacking the police only detracts from the message the good protesters where trying to get accross. Its a shame a man died but to blame it all on the police isn’t realistic. He could have walked away quicker…

PNE footy pitch used to be astro turf and the football museum is based there. Also I’ve met sir Tom Finney. The chap who played R2D2 in star wars lives less than two miles from me. I can see St wallburgs church from my house, an the spire is the second tallest in europe. The M6 does by pass the city. Most likey for the best. Preston isn’t in the “LP” guide book to great britain. The KFC was the first in the UK. Prestons bus station is on the list of buildings you must see before you die. Preston is the newest city in the Uk. The Uni has 30,000 students making in the 6th biggest in the uk.

I’ve been whilst travelling around the world. DO NOT GO TO BAGA BEACH!!! you might as well go to a shite hole in Spain somewhere, well I found Goa to be really nice, cheap and the people to be rather friendly and welcoming. Try the Belo beer, ace, So south Goa is a must. I would go back no questions asked!

    Enjoy.

Carphone Warehouse are by far the worst!! I used to work for them!!! I quit due to the complete and utter crap they would have me the mug on the phone do. They idea was to make the customer give up trying to get a result and in turn pass them off somewhere else!! The bonus system in place at the time mean’t if you spent more than five minutes per customer then you ran the risk of not getting your bonus!!! crazy as this was customer support!! ha ha more like wasting the poor customers time. The amount of times I got into trouble for actually helping a customer, ie giving them the money that was owed to them, instead of making them fight through all the red tape. was too much for me. The conditions and all the constant crap you get from management actually made the job harder than it should have been. Im currently with sky for phone, tv and BB, an I judge customer service by the fact I don’t have to call them at all, which to me means everything is correct and working hence I am a HAPPY customer. Normally the larger the business the worse the customer service is.

Try them again, I’ve always used flats and find them great, uphill isn’t an issue as I keep up with people who use spuds. As for jumps and drops etc, flats are good for jumping off in crash or a quick dab here an there on techy climbs.

I never understood the need to be clipped to the bike.

Well I went with Wozza this weekend and found it slow going in places. The drive there for us was way too far. Felt it was 90% up hill all for that last drop. Not worth it IMHO. I feel there is far better riding in the lakes which isn’t as busy. I can’t understand the need for the large logs placed on the outer edge of most bends meaning there is no run off point? Anyhow its good for a hack around but not a full days biking. It seems the perfect place for an uplift day.

I don’t think I’d be heading back again until there is some major extentions an so on.

gutted this sounds like what my so called mother is doing to my very nice, loyal and TRUST-worthy step dad. Very wrong. The only thing you can do is cover your own ass!!!! It’s a shame that this happens,

Look after yourself and make sure you don’t get fecked over!

I agree with Zaskar, totally to the point! However Alpin, I’m sorry but you’re WRONG! It may well seem they’ll make you feel better now but they WILL hurt the process in the long run. Miss 2hottie has many dealings is in the 5-0 and she sees this all the time. Make yourself seem the complete victim therefore bettering your chances in court. DO not act like a twunt!!!! It will do you no favours!!!!
The last thing you need is her going to the Police about harassement! Whatever you do don’t move out!!!

    good luck

    an all the best

Darell, we are thinking of getting our 7month old border done as well. He is a very lively pup however we have some concerns that the little bugger might run off one day to have some fun.. (it happened with a friends dog) however BT’s according to the missues are prone to nut cancer so removing them is what we will do. I personally feel bad for the little chap as I wouldn’t like the same to happen to me!!!

I’ve got a black hope rear xc, an WILL never sell it! Hope hubs are great. Mines had 3 sets of bearings in since I bought it 7 years ago! I also have a front hope xc which is still working fine, I’ve never had to replace the bearings too. Can’t quote about any other hubs due to the Hopes being so reliable that I’ve never had to buy any others.
