I was up in the forest on Tuesday evening. The trail was a little wet but to be fair it has been raining hard at times for the past few days. I would also recommend keeping the skidding to a minimum as the trail in places is still new so can be easily buggered up! As Jon pointed out the track is a figure of 8 so that you get all the best bits ridden in the correct direction. If you don't have a map keep an eye out for the small signs at the start of the sections. The split logs are great to ride over and they are built over the ground like a raft? (iirc) also they are quite bumpy to ride which is fun. The track is berm central. The volunteer stone pitching was great to ride down and yes the first step is a little off putting… I am just glad that we all decided to move the track so that you have a straight line/run into that section. As for names I think the roller coaster section will stay as for the others I am unsure. I think all the volunteers should send Martin or Nigel ideas. maybe snakes and ladders? or stumble in the jungle…

I for one am very happy that I helped to dig, when I ride the volunteer section I know how much hard graft went into each yard of the track. So when I ride that section I grin like a mad man!

enjoy, an I'll see whoever is up there tomorrow as me and a few friends are riding after lunch.

    Get digging

Unsure about the U an U land but the guy who help to organise the digging at Gisburn works for U an U and is a massive bike fan so was easy I guess.

I agree yards per hour is much better than rocks per hour,

Anyway the stone pitch is a great feature and makes the route that little bit harder!

Jon thats ace, I couldn’t make it to dig at the weekend but I did have a ride round the route the other week and it was ace. The stone pitching took a lot of work! Those big rocks didn’t get up that hill by themselves! I remember at the dig previous pushing on my hands and knees a **** big rock up that slope. I can say that the trail is very good.

    enjoy

The dig went well yesterday, I have around 40 midge bites!!! little feckers, the banter was good tho and the stone pitching is coming along nicely. It will take a least another dig session to get this part complete. Still not officially open but it should be very soon. For the most up to date information join the facebook group. I will be taking advantage of being off for uni and riding there tomorrow. Special permission form the head honcho lol for my efforts of pushing big rocks uphill! Again the more people who turn up and help dig the more money is unlocked for the project as a whole. I think the next dig is on the 7th of July, access is via the school lane fire road. at 10am till 14:00, however turn up whenever between these times and leave when you want, remember it’s volunteer work lol

    See you on the 7th

I think we can all agree it comes down to respect and the lack of it today. I agree with the parent issues but surly any adult not just the parent should be able to remind a kid how to behave. It gets me why kids would think it’s ok to shout an offend as well as harm normal everyday people of all ages. Is it so hard to let people go about their everyday business in a safe civilised society? I feel the problem is getting worse, much much worse. I was only a teenager 5 years ago and none of my friends would dream of doing such acts of mindless trouble making. I think we all want a peaceful, easy and safe society to live in, so maybe looking to the past for ways to control this mindless yobbish behaviour could be the way forward.

The problem is that there is nothing in place to put these kids back in line. What I mean is, look at the animal kingdom, if any one animal steps out of line they are put straight back in there place by the others. It works well in packs of dogs, the dog whisperer said so. Therefore it would seem that to put these kids back on the right path and respect adults and others they will need a good whack now and then. This of course needs to be enforced. I am only 24 and I find that teenagers are far too cocky and need a good slap.

I would never dream of being that rude to people when I was in my teens as if they told my parents I would have been battered! and rightly so.

Yeah **** older people, lol, I had one reverse into me whilst I was walking along the pavement! She kicked off at me for punching the back window as I reminded her to **** look!!!

I now have a hate for sat nav users who are obsessed with this little devise on their dash board that they forget how to drive! I was amazed when I was cut up yesterday and she didn’t even notice me at all I was sat on the horn! Twunts. It made it worse as she was in her later years!

so old people and technology whilst driving should be banned!

Get them to nick a bike, then you could run him over with your car whilst he’s on it! You will get a slap on the wrist as he won’t be wearing a helmet!

My Border is Top, however it’s the first dog I have owned and have been responsible for (other than the ones my parents had). They do take a lot of work, an will keep you busy. From cleaning up the sh1t in the yard to walking them ever day they can take up a fair amount of your free time. I would suggest researching the breeds and maybe borrow a friends dog to see if you can handle it?! My GF’s sister is looking after are dog when we are away, lets see if she still wants a dog after a week then?!

    good luck.

Get a Dog, mines just killed a spider in the kitchen which I didn’t spot! Good on him, I hate the little/big feckers! I say hate but it’s more of a strange sh1t my pants obsession with them, why do I, when seeing one in the house have to kill it before I do ANYTHING else!!!!!!?????

I doubt there is much you can do in any house.

Ps I am scared of spiders!!!!! yet hate flies more?

Ribble used to sell MTB’s including some of their own branded frames many years ago. I bought my first proper bike from them, a nice GT Outpost. Then they just stopped, which was a shame. If they are back into selling MTB stuff then I am buggered as they are only 2 minutes walk away from me at the bottom of my road!!!

They weren’t hard enough on this drunken wan#er. I find it amazing that people on here get a situation so wrong. The Tazer is in use for this exact reason. The UK has a massive problem with drunken twunts walking around our towns at night causing the police to be back logged dealing with such people. To say they were heavy handed is stupid, they were being soft. The guy should have had a real kicking. It’s bad enough that an officer has been injured then when they try to make the arrest the police are then the targets of excessive force. It’s pure bullsh1t like this that frustrates me. I for one do have respect for the police and have no reason what so ever to question what they do. I keep myself out of trouble and don’t like this tool, cause trouble. The crowd is the same as the crowds you get at school fights but are a little older and feel they have a valid point when drunk. They don’t help a situation but make it much worse.

give the police a break, the bad apples in the forces will be routed out. They are under staffed and under supported.

    Just my 2p worth.

That’s dump, get it reported to the police you had a witness and a car reg I guess? If they don’t do anything this time round the car and the driver will have the report saved against them so if they do it again hopefully they will punished.

I think this would also be classed as an assault.

Mine are in the shed in the yard which has no rear ally. They would have to climb over three 10foot walls then break into the shed and then break the cable lock. The dog will bark which gets me up straight away as he stays in the kitchen at night over looking the yard. The other option the scum may have is to kick down two gates as they are both only able to be opened from from the inside, which again should get the dog going.

Many years ago some twunt tried to push me off the bike by standing in front of me! all he go was an x-lite bar end to the ribs at 15mph, he dropped to the floor like a stone!

If the scum really want it they will try anything to get it! so the thing to do is make a proper pain in the arse and try not to attract attention when out.

Could this be classed as criminal damage if the car has to be taken apart too be fixed?

Keep a log of all the shite that this twunt does and demand that your work do something, go along the lines of bulling that should work.

Or get a new job then fire bomb his house.

Border Terrier. Mine will follow me on the bike for 2hrs plus of running! hard as nails!

I live in a small house with the GF and the dog doesn’t get in the way. They are small enough to fit in the boot of a small hatchback, yet have the heart of a loin.

To be fair to JonEdwards the second break didn’t help as after the first time I was able to move the wrist very well using a powerball.

    2hottie

Slow and careful really. The second break was the place in the pic above. Basically I smashed the new fresh bone out of the way as I went over the bars an now my wrist will never be straight again! The bone will take a while to heal so go easy. I’m scared of tripping up and landing on it as It may snap again!!

I did this in June last year and then broke it again in sept, you need to keep up with the exercise and be gentle, pushing it too hard will only make it worse. I wear a 661 wrist guard when biking now but still get aches in the bones after a long ride. This is made worse when cold. I play golf as well which requires good wrist strength and now I can play that without any pain. I would suggest a power ball as they aid grip strength. Your wrist will get better but it does take time. As I say I broke mine twice last year so the recovery time was longer. My x-ray..

    ps good luck

I think mine did this when it died last year, take the cover off and look at the plastic bits in side as that is where mine gave up.

Bin the pads off and go for the resin compound, miles better performance than sintered in all conditions IMO. Yes you’ll be replacing them more frequently but you’ll also have brakes that work!!
