Insurance and Lawyers as everybody else has said (Ignore b r, not her fault!). If you’re not with CTC/BC then I understand their lawyers will look at and take on cases too if you approach them, best to go with a cycling sympathetic one imo.

Also photo’s and quotes of the bike and photo’s of bruising etc as it develops and keep a daily log of her pain and progress, trips to Dr’s, get what help she needs physio etc, work implications. Just record everything.

Please do push the police for a prosecution, It could have been much worse! If it’s the drivers first such incident they’ll get a slap on the wrist points and a fine and hopefully mean they’ll take more care. If it’s not then the extra points might just result in a dangerous driver off the road for a while…

good luck, hope she heals 100% and quickly.

burko73, that’s good to know when I need some next, didn’t know NFF did logs too, despite getting plenty from you over the years.

I live just round the corner from what I guess is the bosses place, I pass most days on the bike (car reg’s give it away and the work t-shirts)

yeah if you do go for a sit on top I’d go used and known brand.
I used mine for 3-4 years and sold it for a small profit 8) can’t argue with that.

oh and BCU 2* is well worth it, pretty much did mine on a weeks school trip at Woodmill.

for splashing about and days at the beach yep a sit on top, if she want’s the get into it then not a sit on top.

Drybags and straps for a sit on top for pick-nick towel clothes etc

An essential in my book as well as the BA would be a kayak trolley, lots of places it’s a bit of a walk to the water from where you park and sit on tops especially aren’t light. Two singles on one trolley or a tandem with kit will still be a job for Dad though.

I’d have let you borrow mine Allan but sold it a few year back just before we moved. We had some great trips on ours, we’ll buy another one in a few years once the new garage is built and the little one’s bigger.

not local but a good day trip I’d recommend would be Lulworth cove area out to Durdle door and just on a bit through Bats head for a private beach.

Enjoy, catch you out on a ride sometime. oh and btw possible bivy, purbecks in a few months is on the cards with the usual bivy guys.

+ for the Dalmatian coast and islands, also Montenegro is worth a trip.
we had a couple of weeks there earlier in the year and really enjoyed it. Only about an hour’s drive from Dubrovnik to Kotor bay area, fjords mountains, national park, beaches and loads of nice old towns like Dubrovnik but a bit less touristy and full!

They don’t appear to be out of true and front and rear are doing the same

And they’re the same make of pads I’ve used for years on Shimano, Ashima and Hayes rotors with no issues.

no call centre, which probably gives away who it is, I can email but they’re not renowned for responding

I’m tempted to post ’em back on a punt, at the end of the day I’m never going to use them as they’re useless but I’ll be £34 +postage out of pocket for the privilege

Oddly there are no reviews for them on their website, I’ve heard rumours of negative reviews of products on their website disappearing

Think I’m going to bookmark this page Tinners, for when I’ve had a really Rubbish day at work and need cheering up 🙂

Tinners thanks for that, you genuinely just had my wife and I both crying with laughter over that one. 😆

As it happens I dispatched a small nest from my son’s play house just this week using a very similar method to a point.
I used a metal rule But! I caught it in a bucket and put a box on top of it there and then, no escapees. I then dumped it in a ditch. It was only tennis ball size though.

The little feckers have started building again already though, in exactly the same spot 👿

Buy a good brand used and you’ll not loose much money if any if it’s looked after.

I bought a used Ocean Kayak Cabo, which was great, 3 years of use, moving house and time meant I flogged it, bought it for £300, sold it for £350 8)

I’ll get another probably in a year or two once the little Man’s bigger and we’ve got some space back now building work has finished for the moment

another +1 for separate excess policy, £40 for an annual policy which covered me and my wife. That was a third of the price of the basic SIXT excess on a 2 week hire and it included tyres and glass which theirs didn’t, unless you added another £chunk on too. Absolute bargain for peace of mind, didn’t need it but glad We did, just in case. Even then I took photo’s of the car before and after the hire as proof, as I’ve heard far to many horror stories about hire companys.

sorry Op but it’s going to sting, just prey they don’t notice 😥

we got one through the post too, no extra charges didn’t want, I wasn’t asked, it just turned up.

We’ve got sky, so it’s in it’s box still in a cupboard, should have returned it really, actually will try to that this week.

stumpy01, you’ve hit the nail on the head there, so true.

Especially on the roads, somebody does something wrong\dangerous, you take avoiding action, and you! end up getting a ear full of abuse 🙄

I had an incident with a motorist who was using their mobile phone. I asked them to put it down and they denied they were even using it (it was still on, in their hand, sat behind the wheel of the car now in traffic), loads of abuse, so said I’d report to the police (which I might or might not have) “yeah you **** do that blah blah blah”. 200m down the road a policeman on a motorbike doing another driver for mobile phone use, so I stopped and said what had happened and he stopped them too 😈

They argued with him for 20 mins, completely denied it, I was making it all up. They even tried to drive off while the policeman was doing the paperwork until he stood in front of the car and called for back up.

Bloody mental, you shouldn’t be doing it, you know it! you’ve been caught, pay the fine and learn your lesson! but no argue lie argue lie

    drives me mad 👿

Nobeerinthefridge, I’m 6’2″ and my brother’s 6’4″ no prob’s in a mini with new seats, I’ve got more head room in the VTech van than I have in my Passat, the seat is on the floor and back a bit with a longer steering column though, the steering wheel is quick release too else you need to be a contortionist to get in and out, but with it off and the roll cage it’s easy to get in and out and comfy to drive.

Tour right topper never de-seam a roof, just doesn’t look right and you’d never want to drive it in the rain either, it’d be awful, I recon you’s get water running down odd places and leaky doors\windows.

chewkw for the VW a Subaru flat four is the way to go, much cheaper than a Porche engine, readily available and loads of power options from 150bhp up to silly turbo power 8)

And Chewkw if you ever hit the jackpot you know where to go, he’s got another VTech mini build he’s quoting for at the moment and is also working on a 70’s beetle restoration at the moment too

    shame less plug 8)

Very nearly, a guy walking along the pavement stepped out in front of me without looking and I was inches front hitting him. So I asked him to look before he crossed the road in future and he just started mouthing off at me like it was my fault. He noted I didn’t have a bell and that that had caused it. I just about had enough time to break before hitting him, if I’d gone for a bell (had I had one) and not both brakes I’d have hit him. Still my fault. I called him and idiot and went on my way.

Automatic cat sprinkler, bit more expensive but it’s effective. You can’t be watching the whole time, but this can.

Did the job for my veg patch in my old house, just don’t forget to switch it off before you or the family walk in front of it, you’ll only do it once or twice

chewkw, my brother will custom build one for you if you like http://www.scvrestoration.co.uk and his insurance is cheap as chips, because it’s a tax exempt classic you can get classic car insurance. He’s got fully comp’ insurance with all mods declared and an agreed valuation for about £300 a year 😈

If you’ve got the funds and the tenacity to fight and fight you can get what you want.

national park here with “strict” rules on extensions and redevelopments, designed to stop rich people coming in a turning every building into a mansions therefore protecting housing for normal folk from the area, good idea with good intentions.

A few years back a guy bought a 2/3 bed bungalow with a bit of land, it’s now valued at about £2,000,000, he fought and fought and fought, threw money and lawyers at the problem and the national park\council gave up because it couldn’t afford to fight him any more.

if that’s not you then sound like it’s unlikely imho

tthew yeah tried that cheers, I just get more of the same plus machine screws and coach bolts

    29erKeith

It needs to be fully threaded or close! 80-90mm because of the length of travel on the clamp, tried the 20-30mm threaded screw that I bought and the camp didn’t come close to closing on the roof rail. I might be able to get away with a 60-70 long screw but it’ll be really tight with the 20-30mm of thread to open enough and clamp properly on the rail.

locking a couple of nuts would work but I’d need to make an even bigger hole in the housing to get a socket in and the head’s pretty well recessed in the clamp so not sure there’s room around it either. if I can’t get the right one a machine screw is a better compromise as can sit in the recess and a can be tightened from the top with a screwdriver and it’d need a much smaller hole bodging in the case

A2A4 not answering the phone at the moment
So I tried http://www.workshopping.co.uk but no joy there, he said he’s got a supplier which might be able to get some but minimum order would be 200 and they won’t be cheap 🙁

    I’ll try A2A4 again later

It’s only a set of Lidl £30 roof bars, Go outdoors stocks exactly the same ones for £70! But still seems crazy to bin them for the sake of one bolt. I might see if I can dremmel a bit out of the casing and use a standard machine screw and then I can use a screw driver to tighten and loosen that one instead of a Allen key like the others. I’m sure I’ll get one of those in B&Q or the likes.

As a race are we getting too lazy to move a mouse an inch to the left?

A hell of a lot of us yes!

yesterday I saw a couple in a car drive down a cycle route\pavement to put a letter into a letter box. They went a good distance along it too to get on and off at drop kerbs. All to save stopping at the side of the road opening the door and walking 3 meters and back and shutting the door 👿

best of luck, you can beat it!

A lad a went to school with had it and beat it, it’s a tough ride for sure, support each other and I’m sure you can do it.

There was a guy I met at the weekend as it happens who’s son had just done it too, he was about 4/5 still bald from the treatment but was running around full of life with the other kids playing.

I’m sure it’s hard, I can’t imagine how I’d react myself but stay strong and best of luck.

Agreed tbh, it’s my brother car, it’s about 180BHP and is very! fast as is, but surprisingly drivable. It’s now as much a show car\advertising for what he’s doing for a living, only been going a few months but has got plenty of work already. He’s got a few complete restorations in (Mini, Morris Minor and a beetle, amongst other smaller jobs) and is taking on extra staff already.

really proud of him, starting out from nothing after being made redundant and making a great success of it.

Sorry OP, I still think your problem is oil related though i.e. lack of, not necessarily complete loss but not sufficient flow causing premature bearing/seal failure in the turbo
