go for it!
the first few miles on day two will be the toughest.what sort of mileages and times are you up to already? what’s your longest run distance and time?
Ultra’s have quite a different feel to a lot of other races, there can be long spells on your own, pace is very different to how you’d run a half marathon for example also kit eating and drinking needs a different approach
I’ve done a few ultra’s and multi day stage races, there are a few other guys on here that do ultra’s too… Pyro +??
29erKeithFree MemberOP what was her reaction to events?
you still talking?
How’d she take the visit from the Fireman?I hope relations aren’t irreparably damaged, nobody needs neighbours from hell type scenarios
29erKeithFree MemberWe used Blurb for some wedding and honeymoon photo books.
great design software, nice finish and pretty quick too and reasonably priced
29erKeithFree Memberas silverfish seem to be a big ish company I’d really be expecting them to try and help out even if it is the manufacturer that’s the real problem by the sounds of it.
I know where the Law/STW stand on who’s problem it is etc but..
If I’d bought via my small local LBS though I’d feel pretty bad for them too as it doesn’t sound like there’d be much they could do without ending up out of pocket themselves. As this case it looks like a bigger company I’d expect ’em to take the hit for not to recover the loss later29erKeithFree MemberI don’t think wet underfloor systems are too expensive to run. electric ones are though I believe
29erKeithFree Memberunderfloor heating is generally left on all the time as it can’t response quickly like rad’s as it has to heat up a large mass
temps are generally lower afaik than you’d set a traditional rad style system. plenty on here with underfloor so they’ll be along shortly
29erKeithFree Membercheers again ski just what I was looking for.
the photo’s of the accessories and the rear part all look incredibly similar. They must all be generic internals so fingers crossed they’ll be the same. I’ll have a read of that this evening
29erKeithFree MemberMy riding’s certainly suffered the last year because of the house, every evening and weekend + with Baby29er
But I still commute by bike nearly everyday and make sure I get out every once and a while for a ride/bivy/run with mates.
It’s all worth it and I’ll get back on the riding/running next year
btw we ended up £40k over asking price for our place, 50+ viewings in 3 weeks and turned into a bit of a bidding war in the end. We certainly paid more than it was worth (bricks and mortar) but location location….
We’re skint at the moment now but we love it and the area and Baby29er will grow up with open forest just round the corner.29erKeithFree Membercheers ski
mines not exactly the same as the picture, mine has a button on the rear instead of the top. actually it’s this one but I only paid £30 or so from that seller, that price must be a typo!
they look near identical bar the button location, so I assume they’ll work the same.
with the slider to the outside the button/led do nothing, with the slider to the centre I press the button the led comes on, no flashing and I can’t switch it off. I have randomly got it to record some things so I know it sort of works.
I have put a new 32GB card in it, does that need some special set up on it? It has recorded some stuff onto the card so I don’t think it’s a card problem
29erKeithFree MemberDriving lessons?
not your car, proper instructor (no slight on your driving), dual controls.I wouldn’t have though the insurance on either of your cars will be cheap, just imagine she pranged one of ’em too
29erKeithFree MemberSounds similar to my place
some damp problems and a few structural changes (internal walls out a couple of chimney breasts out and steel in) some damp in the walls so DPC largely replaced, new suspended floors (damp), new stairs, new bathroom, roof repairs, complete rewire, almost complete re-plumb (excluding boiler), will be completely re-plastered (80% already done), completely emptied and re-done the jungle of a garden
I started in Feb/Mar by brothers a sparky so that was sorted, I had 3 weeks off with a friend in the trades when it really was a shell, mud for floor no electrics, no water, no heating, no stairs, hole in the roof….bloody hell that was cold staying there (wife was at parents)
other than that I’ve been doing it on my tod bar a bit of help just here and there from one of my mates, wife was pregnant, our sons now 8 weeks, most of my mates are either useless at any trade except one who’s also in the process of renovating his place in the same village as us and who’s baby’s due in 5 weeks. It’s been bloody hard work!
I’m 80% there now, upstairs is 100% done back room is all done except carpet (big rug down as a temporary thing) front room is a building site and down stairs toilet is a shell.works obviously slowed due to the baby of late but funds are non-existent now too 🙁
We’ve spent about 60k I think and probably need 5-10k to finish.
that’s without touching the kitchen which was the only part of the house that had been touched in the last 56 years, 15ish years old and is small but perfectly live-able. Long Term the kitchen will get knocked down and a new extension built but that’s pie in the sky at the moment. It’s good fun a times, really really hard at others and will always cost more than you think. but you’ll end up with a house you’ve really put your heart and soul into and will love.
Good luck
29erKeithFree MemberI proposed at the Taj Mahal while she was sat on the “Diana seat” she was pretty surprised.
I did nearly get the engagement ring confiscated at security though and threatened with being arrested if I did it, had me sweating a bit.All turned out well in the end though
29erKeithFree Memberif it’s of any relevance I used Salbutamol for the Asthma
I just grew out of the asthma as a lot of kids do apparently. I always avoided caffeine because of the allergy (used to just make me vomit) but had drink given to me at some point in my early 20’s which I discovered after contained Red Bull…. no sickness so I experimented a bit and seems the caffeine allergy was no longer.
I still can’t stand the taste of coffee or tea.
The number of people who can’t seem to get their heads around me not liking either astounds me still.“what you don’t like Tea or Coffee?!?! what do you drink???…”
“errr water, juice, milk, squash, Beer, Cider, Wine, just no coffee or Tea”
“wierd!” 🙄29erKeithFree MemberI had mild asthma as a kid, I was also allergic to Caffeine. no idea if there is any link.
Neither bother me now though, I never got the coffee/tea/coke thing as a kid because of this so rarely ever have caffeine now anyway, other than redbull on the odd long race or Jager fuelled night out with mates
29erKeithFree MemberKnight motors (Nr St Mary statium) for gearbox stuff is where my Brother recommended (was in the motor trade)
Knight motors sorted the gearbox on my wife’s Alfa 145 years back. Decent job and price. I’m sure they’d do general servicing too, but Gearboxes were his speciality I believe.

29erKeithFree Memberbloody hell that made a difference. The first few photo’s had me reaching for eye bleach but now looks ok, far more in proportion.
hope it rides well and you! enjoy it, that’s all that matters really
29erKeithFree Memberlook about for last years shoes, good discounts on them quite often
easiest if you have big or small feet thoughthere are a few places that seem to specialise in a year or two old stuff startfitness is one that springs to mind
29erKeithFree MemberNear mountains and the sea….North Wales, The Lake District, Scotland
29erKeithFree Memberbought from a shop? imported? [Not judging]
I’ve seen some in the supermarket like thatuk ones are usually half that size
thankfully we have an abundance of them in the hedgerow opposite the house and have used loads this year 😛29erKeithFree Member4×2 at foot centres is what I’ve got, sounds similar
Larths have been removed and plasterboard put up insteadI don’t go hiking up there or store weights or anything, just a few bits and pieces suitcases etc
don’t go putting a car up there bit by bit or a running machine 🙄 and you’ll be fine
29erKeithFree MemberI did for the section of the loft I wanted to board for storage
then just roll it out for the for the rest over the top
29erKeithFree Memberok cheers,
if it’s £15 a pair then that’s cheaper that the US ones I found on ebay which were £31 inc. P&P but I’d no doubt get import tax (and rightly so 😥 )
either way I’ll get them from there cheers Houns I knew you’d deliver the goods.I know HMRC are really cracking down in the import duty’s, especially the small items which are and will get charged far more reliably and frequently. The sister company where I work is in the process of making a whole raft of changes to their system to enable some of it
29erKeithFree MemberI assume you have call up and ask for the Jaws?
I can’t see them on the website29erKeithFree Memberlooks good. I must come along next year, fingers crossed the house will be finished by then.
29erKeithFree MemberVorlich +1
Basket on the HT and it’d look like something my mum would ride
not for me
29erKeithFree Member7 miles each way here every day, if I’m running late I can cut down to 6 but I rarely do (lots more traffic). I sometimes add in an extra mile or two off road on my way home when I’m on my CX and the pannier(s) aren’t fully loaded with shopping etc
29erKeithFree MemberMy commute’s from the edge of the New Forest to Southampton.
I contacted my local area officer (very rural) as I couldn’t find any other relevant contact details and the incident was very close to home on one of the quite forest roads which is normally the safest/quietest part of my commute. Mind you an idiot in a car can make the safest bit of road unsafe for the sake of adding a few seconds on to their journey 🙄
29erKeithFree MemberI’ve replaced all of the rad’s in my place as part of renovations
I couldn’t believe how much and how thick the black sludge was in the rads, the heating had certainly been neglected for some years before we moved in. The old chap had lived there for 56 years and basicly hadn’t maintained anything
I’d put money on a flush than bleeding/balancing too from the symptoms
29erKeithFree MemberI was chatting to the trainee midwife while baby29er was being delivered 6 weeks ago, she was just finishing training and was a bit up in the air with job offers/lack of. One hospital had offered her a job but with Zero! hours. Thats not a job is it really? just hanging on for a call 24/7 and end up getting one or two shifts maybe, how on earth could she live on that?
She was holding out and hoping for a role in the hospital we were in which sound like it was a possibility according to the head midwife which we had leading everything. both did a great job, really grateful for them,
I hope your niece has some luck, great job. now there’s job satisfaction!
29erKeithFree MemberAn old friend of mine had a chopper style bike with a pivot and spring which rode a bit like that.
it was rubbish too, after you’d got over the 30 noveltie of being able to crab it
29erKeithFree Memberhave you tried a re-proofer? tech wash & DX or rangers etc?
a wash and reproof every once and a while can really make waterproofs last and perform better when they start to degrade
Edit my grans great on the sowing machine and loves doing it so has replaced zips and re-enforced all sorts of my bike, running and bivy kit
29erKeithFree Memberbridgedales
I tried sealskins too and didn’t rate them + I seem to wore holes in the ends after a couple of rides too. not for me
29erKeithFree Membernot preaching at all as some but …
be sensible with one, safety gear can be had from BandQ, always remember the brake, I had a little lesson from a mate who’s a tree surgeon. I personally wouldn’t do anything at height myself just a bit of log cutting on the groundI bought myself a cheapo £99 one from BandQ (Homelite?) and it’s been fine for the amount of times I use and what I use it for it’s fine. it’s all ce safe etc
beware ebay cheapness as it might not be safe…dodgy import
most on here will say Husqvarna or Stihl I’d guess but is a bit spendy for an occasional userwood should be season for 2+ years really btw
29erKeithFree MemberIt is near Minehead but the YHA there is great, amazing breakfast, drying room, bike storage and washing facilities. the guy that runs it will do dinner to if you ask in advance too, reasonable pub a few mins walk away, and trails right on the door step.
I’ve stayed there a few times with large groups MTBing and would go back
29erKeithFree MemberWe’ve had it a couple of times before we knew what it was and each time it’s upset my wife stomach easily done to be fair but it has upset mine too once. it’s got a few names Pegasi (spelling) and various cobbler related variations.
The fish itself is OK taste and texture wise, very similar to cod but more sustainable IF! it were produced closer to home that is and not pumped for full of lady wee, more hormones and god know what else then I’d probably try it again.
We’ve travelled all over Vietnam and have seen the rivers and the pools where they bread them, I wouldn’t again now
29erKeithFree Memberthe wiggle one?
If so you’ll be coming right past my house, wave if you see a man up a ladder with a hedge trimmer by the green village hall. That’s if it’s dry
Enjoy it, I love that bit of my commute.
