yeah looks like a revolver to me too
I had one on a set or Easton wheels, failed pretty quickly 🙁
intermittently it would just spin and not engage then randomly just start working again.

That secured using a big allen key through from the left hand side of the hub

Broke my hand in two places using a large drill at arms length cutting a hole for a down lighter. It snagged on a larth and whipped round. Note to self don’t use big drills at arms length\use a clutch-less drill.
    😥 😳

I did finish that hole and one other before a long sitting down in the bathroom with my hand in a bowl of cold water, where my wife found me looking a bit off colour like a cross between these two guys  🙁 before heading to hospital for x-rays and a cast

tv no aerial but you could still get iplayer which afaik you need a tv licence to watch too. there was an advertising campaign aimed at students a while back I think which made this point, could be nonsense though

use ’em as they were designed or get new rims imho too
Roval Rim tape’s just as good as the Stans imo but cheaper, much more on a roll.

I’ve had schwalbies, continentials and kenda’s with no probs

    @ tthew

tubeless repair kit will fix bigger holes that won’t seal, if it’s a proper big tear or side wall then a spare tubes unlikely to be any good either tbh unless you carry one of those tyre patches too.

Stans are tight but there is a knack, there are some tyre which are too tight though and if that’s the case you’ll need to change rims or tyres for a combo that works for you else as you’ve said you could get really stuck out with a long walk home

    What’s wrong with STW today?
    Everyone is agreeing 🙂

and another +1 for Shimano, genuinely fit and forget!

some tyres are tighter than other and some not recommended as said above

the trick\tip is to drop bead into the well in the middle of the rim then pop one bit off and you’ll be there. hopefully!

Any of you guys he are getting rid of Stans rims I’ll gladly take your faulty rims off you, if you don’t want ’em

I usually slow and ask if they’re ok.

I actually fixed a guys puncture once. Middle aged guy, expensive road bike and lycra who didn’t have a clue how to fix a puncture 🙄

Also given directions\their current location on a map to some lost looking people out in the forest before too.

I very much doubt the OP’s friend have “demanded” anything

OP go to your friends wedding, if you don’t want to give a gift at all then don’t, if you’d rather give a present instead of cash then do that.

Wish your friends well and enjoy their day with them

If we or others who’ve done the honeymoon, voucher or even cash thing I don’t think of it as “asking for a gift” because we expected none and would have still had an amazing day and honeymoon. But if somebody want’s to get us a gift I’d rather guide them to something we want/are going to use no different from a John Lewis style wedding list to be honest really is it? You wouldn’t want to be given 100 identical towels\plates or something would you? and the person buying the gift I’m sure would rather know it went to use, not just got put in a box to gather dust

We’d lived together for 12 years before we go married, a traditional style wedding list just wouldn’t have worked other than to fill already full cupboards with stuff we didn’t really need\want.

We said if anybody wants to give us a gift then something towards our honeymoon would be amazing. Some people gave us £’s some gave us $’s or other currencies (as we did 20 odd countries) some people booked us day trips or hotels so they felt like they were buying a gift\memory. we got a couple of odd gifts too, some good some still in a box in the loft.

If the police\ebay\paypal will give you some details small claims?
    PITA!

I’d expect them to prove it was indeed stolen with a frame number or photo’s from the original owner or something

Else I could pick a newly listed bike off of ebay report “my bike” as stolen, wait for it to sell, then point out the listing to the police and ask them to get it back for me. I’m sure this is not the case, but I’d still expect some proof from the police. I’d expect to know what was happening with regards the person that sold it to you as you are now a victim of their crime(s).

If you’ve put new bits on I’d swap them back to the state you purchased the bike in if you can.

sometimes decisions seem unfair but were made for good reason, sometimes decisions are made and really were unfair or discriminatory.

thing is you’ll never know, you’ll never get a straight answer or you’ll struggle to understand\believe it if you do.

unless the boss actually admits to something which is never going to happen there’s nothing you can do after the fact but move on.

sounds almost exactly the same storey as my wife

her junior with less experience, less qualifications (which were detailed in the Job description) got the job. My wife even said she’d come back from maternity leave early, oh and she’d covered almost exactly the same roll for somebody else on maternity leave the year before and got nothing but positive feedback. Her junior jumped 2 or 3 pay grades over her (local council).

she’s not looking forward to going back to work in 3 weeks.

stinks but nothing you can prove unless the boss actually said something, even then your word against there’s.

chuff all you can do imo 🙁

cycling to work this morning, queue of traffic across a roundabout and a set of lights the other side for a crossing, lights at red. I move to the front round the outside waiting for the light to change.

Only a gap of half a dozen cars from the traffic the other side crawling along. So driver I’m along side is getting no where.

The driver starts revving his engine light change I start cycling along and he keeps revving his engine at me looking at me like I’ve wronged him somehow and he want’s to kill me. I’m looking at him somewhat confused and just point to the half a kilometre queue of cars in front and cycle on past it all as I do most days (safely tucking in for oncoming traffic).

    Mental!!!

@Molgrips agreed, I too think every should vote for who they want and vote tacticly.

Too often I’ve seen leaflets with “vote for us they’re a wasted vote”

The political landscape might be different if everybody who wanted to vote did and voted for who they really wanted to vote for.

not that there’s any one party which I think is a perfect fit for most people

Green or UKIP seems and odd option as they seem to be polar opposites on many points

UKIP are complete climate sceptics, and seem to hate cyclists wanting us taxed and to walk around roundabout to not impede traffic, very different on defence too

[edit]I’m thinking green too, if I have a green option. bit pointless really though as I’m in a massive conservative strong hold afaik[/edit]

I see lots of horsey riders with these, which seem to make a lot of people think enough

I’d love to see the results of a proper study on the effectiveness of them, I’d bet they work. I’d just shows that a lot of drivers can wait, slow and or leave enough space but make a decision not to 😥

I used Cool Diamonds, you’ll have to make an appointment in advance.
I was really pleased with the service and my wife loved the ring.

Again it was and experience in itself which I really enjoyed, very James bond. The guy went through everything with me but do a bit of research before hand on diamonds.

    enjoy

As you get anywhere bad overtakes and stupid driving. I can’t say I could distinguish any of those from being “buzzed” though. That’s a national issue not a local one specificity ime.

I think the attitude in the New Forest with a specific minority is worse than in other places, not just to cyclist either but to others and that seems to me to come from the verderers\commoners who imo see it as theirs and theirs alone and seem to endlessly make up paper thin reasons to see everybody banned and the forest closed. If it wasn’t done here 200 years ago then it shouldn’t be done now, unless we’re talking about cars that is, even though they kill 60+ animals a year and cause genuine traffic chaos all summer they’re fine.

IMO I don’t think there are significantly more cyclist around though in general or more sportives\charity rides etc than any other beauty spot in the UK.

The village I live in is a bit of gateway to the north we see dozens of roadies & MTBers every day heading out and back all year, we’ve been on several sportive routes too, as well as lots of local horse riders about all the time. We’ve lived there a year and half and haven’t seen or heard of a single incident.

They do themselves a their cause a dis-service with the paper thin arguments and made up “facts”. What they should do imo is work with the Sportives not against them to minimise any real or perceived impacts of these events and to put some perspective to it with regards the NF Show, County show, Beaulieu auto jumbles etc and the impact they have.

The Wiggle events appear to have tried to do whatever they could. You can’t reason with a minority group of militant bigots though

Pigface I don’t think it’ll get driven much in the wet tbh
but a Diff, custom drive shafts and heavy duty outer CV’s are on the shopping list. Hopefully torque steer shouldn’t be too bad as the drive shafts are equal lengths I think, that’s why tuned A-Series used to get it bad anyway, I know how bad in the wet they can be from this 140bhp turbo A-Series, Sadly gone, I wish I’d not sold it now 🙁

KAD do an Equal length driveshaft kit for the A Series to help

It’s not mine it’s my brothers, he’s put an amazing amount of work into it though, I love checking out progress whenever I go round and can’t wait to drive it.
Not to everyone’s taste I’m sure, I’d have a done some of it different myself (had I the skills he has that is). Still work in progress too, started out as a rotten Mini Traveller but will be a fire breathing 1.8VTech Turbo with 300 ish BHP mini Van, road legal track day\show car.
Fingers crossed it’ll be done this year. It’s a bit Mad Max at the moment but should be a bit! less so once finished.

I think it will officially be classed as Flashy puts it “Bat Shit Mental” to drive

I’d be up for a group ride too.

In Bartley here, the event came past my place last year as do several other sportives and loads of regular chain-gangs, commuters and mtbers on their way out and back. Never had or seen any bother at all there’re always horses up and down the road too.

Had sunday lunch at the oak at bank with a few friends who rode saturday and saw a few riders coming though on this years route, saw a few signs which looked the be pointing in the right direction.

They’ve pencilled in a date in June or July I think, not sure if it’s sold out, you might be able to get in maybe, or just download the route. I rode most of just recently with a friend.

My friends that rode the one on Saturday were oblivious to all of this bar a few protesters in Boldre. So fingers crossed it’ll not have done too much harm.

Anita Sibley\Grisham Hail from http://www.vizzitnewforest.com/ certainly seems to be a ring leader in all of the hysteria. She certainly seems to be the one that’s been quoted in several news papers on this subject.

She doesn’t exclusively hate and want just cycling banned, she doesn’t seem to like runners either[/url]. Apparently between us we’ll be “the ruination of the Forest”.

If she could separate the real world from the exaggerations and fiction I love to have a debate with her on the subject. She seem incapable of that though, I s’pose that happens when you’ve worked in marketing though a 🙄

A HORSE rider says she was in fear for her life after 30 horses stampeded across the Forest after being spooked by runners. Anita Gresham-Hale, director of the Vizzit Group, was riding with a friend at Stoney Cross at about 10am on Sunday morning, unaware that the event, a nine-mile cross country run organised by Totton Running Club, was taking place.

She said: “The runners cut across the airfield and dropped into Ocknell Wood before turning onto the underpass. Coming from the direction of the runners, some 30 horses stampeded out of the second underpass, all galloping furiously towards us. Their manes were standing up and it was absolutely petrifying. I have ridden over the Forest for years and I have never come across anything like this.”

A look at the Vizzit website tells us that only one Anita sits on the board. Might Anita Sibley and Anita Gresham-Hale be the one and same? We tried to find out by calling Vizzit but were told “no comment” by a woman who identified herself only as “Anita”.

    Back to the stampede story:

Mrs Gresham-Hale added: “I have no problem with the running club or how the race was organised. This is part of a wider problem. There here are too many events, with more people taking part. These events need to be better advertised and supervised by a National Park Authority official. I am in the process of launching a group because we are not going to allow the ruination of the Forest to continue.”

    Adding:

Martin Nugus of the club told the Forest Journal that 134 runners took part and the event was marshalled by 52 people. He said he had received no reports from marshals about a stampede and explained that he had spoken to several marshals after obtaining details from the Forest Journal.

Mr Nugus said: “While I fully sympathise with being caught up in a stampede, not one of our marshals witnessed the incident, in fact they said that there were very few horses and ponies about on Sunday. I cycled ahead of the runners and we had a UK Athletic qualified race referee at the event and we saw nothing. While I don’t believe that a stampede was caused by the runners, we will investigate.”

    Curious times in the Forest.
