you won’t need to learn linux at all
I’m probably going to do the same, a couple of guys I work with have done it already.
All you need is XBMC and your away. you can use your phone as remote control too so no screen needed once set up (use a TV with HDMI) which is more of a copy and paste exercise on to the SD than anything
my plan is connect it to my AV receiver, wired network and it’ll stream music from the internet or my itunes library from my NAS, about £40 job done
you can stream films and sports from the internet with it too (up to 720P) which works really sell according to one of the guys I work with
29erKeithFree MemberI was running down a shared use route which I regularly cycle along, I was running on right as I should with oncoming traffic on a road.
Then coming towards me is this older chap on a road bike with his cap on (no lid, each to their own) thinking he looks like an 80’s pro.
He see’s me and has plenty of time and room to go round me, no effort at all. He just rides straight at me and flicks his hand at me shooing me out of his path, which I did but sort of wish I hadn’t.
arrogant old git muttered some expletive at me when he came past too
29erKeithFree Memberespares & DIY with Youtube videos, it’s all much easier than you think
replaced a worn bearing in our just a few months ago. dryers are the simplest things going tbh
empty the hoover ready though, good opportunity to clean it out. you’ll be amazed how much fluff is in there
29erKeithFree MemberMassiah, Is that an actual man Cave!?
My vote would be TT on a block with an big axe. I’d send the photo with the axe still in the block and TT clearly cleaved in two 😀
29erKeithFree MemberNice pic, I ran my PW marathon at 13,000ft still one of my favourites despite the slowest time, hills are really hard work when oxygen is scarce
29erKeithFree MemberMy son’s gone to Nursery 3 days a week and other odd weekend rides since he was 8/9 months old, he’s reclined and well strapped in, in a Croozer trailer with a baby head support.
he was sitting well holding his head and pulling himself up to sitting and standing.yep take it easy and the roads\tracks do bounce ’em about way more than you or I notice on a bike.
he’s a year old now as of last week and he loves being in his buggy and sleeps quite comfortably a lot of the time.
your the parents you know your little one and I’m sure you’d do nothing you weren’t comfortable was ok
29erKeithFree Memberold fella must have felt a draft or two so covered up all the vent bricks with slates, then had damp issues on the walls so covered bits of the walls with plastic sheets then thin ply over that and then wallpapered it and then painted that 🙄
hence a completely rotten ground floor and stairs needing replacement and re-plastering every wall in the house.
we obviously knew about the damp and floors in bad nick but it turned out to be worse than expected just mind boggling seeing some of the bodges and how the problems were exacerbated by them
29erKeithFree Member+1 lensor h7
Amazing light for the money, light, bright, variable beam and brightness
29erKeithFree Membergood stuff is pretty expensive, a mate of mine thats done a few gardens with it said if you do you use it, don’t have any areas over the width of the roll. joins just look awfull
29erKeithFree MemberLoads from 40t are very! different from 14t, SS grunting up a hill
29erKeithFree Membercheers, I’ve stuck the order in, yeah wheels will probably get upgraded next year
my Croix De Fer is pretty porky really, but is perfect for what it’s for.
Just seems silly to have the field listed on their pages but just put N\A in it everywhere. It is applicable! to buyers, it’s not my number one concern but it’d be nice to have an idea
29erKeithFree MemberMr Genesis if you’re going to put “Weight” in the spec’ table against your bikes them please fill it in, else just take it out.
thank you
Edit oops I meant Genesis btw
29erKeithFree MemberCheers all, it’s a pretty simple install so I might get in touch with a friend of a friend and try to just get him in for a day to do the connecting up of it all and sort the HETAS Cert’. Thinking about it’ll save on the building regs costs, so not actually that much more hopefully
29erKeithFree Memberyeah we’ve got a mix of uprights and a few traditional shapes ones in bedrooms too.
I can recommend the company I used and their rad’s (we had a few from each range to get the exact sizes we needed), no experience of any others though
29erKeithFree Membercost against steel seems to vary depending on shape for some reason e.g.
traditional shape, long and low steel is cheaper
but thin and tall aluminium is cheaper
we’ve mainly got tall ones which give you a lot more wall space and made them at least comparable with the mix of sized we had.with and inhibitor you can run aluminium and steel together.
mine are all aluminium bar one small towel rad but for the moment they’re run from a rather old cast iron boiler, flushed my filter a few weeks back after a year and no sign of any problems at all.aluminium-house-radiators-are-they-worth-it

29erKeithFree Memberit will go on record and might make them think twice if their livelihood is threatened
agreed, but I bet it doesn’t change his opinion of cyclists.
In fact it will probably galvanise his hatred further 😥I doubt we’ll ever win or change the attitude of so many who hate cyclists 😥 😥 😥 😥 😥
29erKeithFree MemberI’ve had that for years, I was hoping for a £5 off over £50 or something that they send out every now and again and let people share with friends.
I’ve posted a few in the past when I wasn’t going to buy before they expired
29erKeithFree Memberagreed Jamie my mate only contacted them in the last month and got the feeling they really weren’t bothered.
I looked a while ago for an upgrade but all the new ones seemed to miss something that I want\had on my 305. Not many at the time I looked last did routes or if they do it’s 1 route not the dozens I can have on my 305, battery on some not as good and smaller screens.
My 305 is pretty damn good and almost indestructible too
305 FTW imo, op might have different requirements to me though
29erKeithFree Membermy mates wife washed his 305 so he “upgraded” to a 310 and hated it couple of odd bugs\behaviour so returned and bought a 305 referb unit direct
main one for him was when following a route if your zoomed in and there are less than 2 points on the screen at that moment the trail line disappears. We use the this feature a lot for our runs, always trying to explore new routes. 305 is brilliant at it and also hold more routes than some of the newer watches too so always got a selection of routes at your finger tips.
Garmins fix was to run an app over your route files to add extra points every x meters, an extra faff and filling up your watch which was never an issue with the 305
29erKeithFree Memberit’s a shame IMO, what he did wasn’t right but he’d have never got it built on that budget if the building reg’s were involved regardless of if it is safe or not. yes it was against the rules but it is a modest eco friendly dwelling which in the real world affects nobody! it is not a massive Tesco’s plonked in the middle of a national park.
+1 for if you have enough money you can do what you want, a lot of the time. I live in the New Forest and the planning rules here are somewhat more restrictive than normal. The laudable aim is to maintain a cross section of housing stock. i.e make sure rich people don’t come in buy up all the houses and turn ’em it into massive places forcing out locals on lower incomes out.
A very clear example just round the corner from me a guy bought a small 2/3 bed bungalow and has turned it into a massive 4/5 bed house with outbuildings bigger than my house and turned it from an already overpriced £350k, to a property worth well in excess of a million pounds. To do it he took the national park to court 2/3 times until they couldn’t afford to fight any longer.
I on the other hand want to make my 2 bed into a 3 bed and build a garage and it looks like it’s going to be fight from beginning to end all for 30% (which includes conservatory’s and attached garages) on the original size. Thing is next door (originally identical to mine) is already 60% bigger + massive attached garage + conservatory.
29erKeithFree Membermost of the meat eaters I know can’t tell the difference between meat from different animals
really!? I’m confident that I could identify beef, lamb, pork, chicken and duck blindfolded
yeah some are more similar chicken\turkey but I think I could tell those apart too turkey has a quite different texture
pigeon\duck probably not
29erKeithFree Membermine hang, then any bike on any hook
not that it would be an issue to have specific hooks for specific bikes29erKeithFree Member1-2 nights Bivy
much longer and a tent will be a world apart in comfort
29erKeithFree Member+1 terranova laser comp
light (900g-ish), but not stupidly light e.g. the ultra light 500g-ish one
mines years old and had dozens of outings and still going strong.
Mark Beaumont’s travelled all over the the world with one29erKeithFree MemberDrops on a Genisis CDF so STI levers
Road\CX Hydro’s are still a bit pricey I think29erKeithFree MemberR505
£60 from tredz inc. disc and cable
or ebay from the states for £35 incP&P + taxes29erKeithFree Membercheers again, yeah I think it’s the 545 I can’t seem to see any callipers which take the same pads
29erKeithFree Membercheers Alan
I assume the callipers are all compatible, the calliper is a different model to that one. it looks more like this one
which takes these pads
which are the same ones on all of my other bikes so it’d be nice to try to keep them the same from a spares point of view, the pads also look easier to change.29erKeithFree Memberjust me then 🙁
just glad it didn’t go at a nasty junction or an emergency I suppose
29erKeithFree MemberIf it’s a pre-formed concrete sectional type garage, then are full of re-bar too. That and the very hard concrete will destroy most drill bits and mean you get no where.
If anybody knows of a bit that’ll do it I’m all ears, no really I’ve the same problem.
screwing into the joints or hanging off of cross members or bolt fixings is the other option
29erKeithFree MemberKorcula a few hours from Dubrovnik is well worth a look if your not set on Pula.
We had amazing few weeks there, beautiful island. Watersports, MTBing, walking, great food & drink, history and close enough for day trips to Debrovnik on the hydrofoil too. We’ll go again for sure.
29erKeithFree MemberWe like ours, get one with a timer or motion activated though so it’s off when you don’t want it to be on. power leads not a big problem for me socket is in just the right place
29erKeithFree MemberI can still picture the guy in a hybrid faces when I can past him panniers on oh and my 10 month old son in a trailer behind 😆
I just had to look over my shoulder at that point to double check my son was still asleep, which he was 8)
29erKeithFree MemberOrmanCheep +1 almost exactly my thoughts
+ the little bridge under the A5 at the end of Llyn Ogwen
Here it is always love showing people that a real surprise that so many people miss29erKeithFree MemberHow many will it take?
Just a few, but the right ones, get a politician on a bike and run them over…
I’ve been complaining and reporting issues about the junction outside my office for years, plenty of close calls. Private road in a port so loads of lorries. Absolutely nothings been done and I’ve got nothing or been fobbed off at best and been told to cycle on the pavement at times to. Not surprisingly I gave up reporting anything.
Our FD had a very near miss a few weeks back, within a week there’s a working group with our company and the port & road owners to look at what can be done to improve safety for cyclists at the junction.
I’m glad that somethings happening, but sad it’s taken so long
