If a landlord isn’t providing a garden and guaranteed sun+windy weather + security/clothing insurance what other option do they have?</span>

Clothing insurance ? For drying clothes outside ? ….. Is this a thing students expect …… is it even a thing?

I wonder if most people on this thread understand how hard it is to walk or even remain standing still at these kinds of wind speeds

I’d expect the Scottish contingent are well aware..

Given the last couple of storms we have had
Not that it w got much air time or intervention from the powers that be.so can understand why folks might not be aware of them

Stainless steel rather than cheap mild steel for a start.

Indeed and in real terms what does that mean. 250 quid doesn’t buy you much quality stainless material before you you start manufacture.

Or was the 1995 when it was a relevent car and 250 quid was alot money.

Fwiw oe exhausts have always lasted me longer than pattern replacements and kept the cabin noise level unchanged . I put a stainless exhaust on one of my cars due to needing custom after an engine swap ….braaaaaaaaap braaaaaaap – was only one silencer box on it due to “performance” moniker .

    Stainless steel performance replacement, 250.

What was performance about it ? The name ?

Just one example off the top of my head, Nissan 200sx

Strange you pick a random obscure car that about 4 people in the UK had….

but it’s the lack ofbow wave that is sloshing the water up into air intakes.

The idea of a bow wave is to have a wave just ahead of your vehicle causing a depression just behind keeping the area right Infront of your vehicle water free.

    Done right – very impressive.

Vehicle come the other way or you get stuck /speed changes. Your in for a spendy time.

Hydraulic lock would have jammed it solid surely?

Only if you get it really bad.

Bent Conrods it’ll still run in many cases.

Neither my current nor previous supplier have the means to remotely take readings from my smart meter for billing purposes

    Mine can.

As for remote turn offs .. very very easy to bypass the meter. Yes it’s “illigal” and very obvious but by the time they are cutting your power to your property specifically and remotely using the meter it’s fair game.

Twenty quid to wash remove ,transport, wash , dry , press ,transport and refit.

a bedding set though? You’d be better off closing the BnB and opening a laundrette. 😁

It’s a bit like.being shocked at the wages IT workers get for turning the machine on and off again…

Why not just wash them instead of buying new?

Haha has sir tried to buy anything you’d actually want to sleep in as a guest for 20 quid…..

Mean while back in the real world. There’s time taken to remove -then have laundered and then refit.

All costs to the business – 20 quid could easily be swallowed up. – a quick Google shows you’d be 17.70 just to have a double bed sheet/bedspread and 2 pillow cases laundered….

That is when you click a particular car they have a section called imperfections where they show photos of damage with a cazoo branded ruler next to it. (Which is a positive) ……

Now the size of car I was looking at -significamtly more of their stock(nee all of it) had a high number of imperfections – but were priced against stock at other retailers without that damage ….

Someone above said the cars he looked at were really rough – you could tell that from an internet photo?

Have you viewed your own website ?

Doesn’t say what they do with the calipers to be fair and I stand by my previous statement. The only way a torque wrench(or any wrench) went near that bolt was if they changed the pads.

Reading the thread . By dealer don’t you mean car supermarket. Let’s not confuse the two.

He’s not on the Tour squad. At least, not yet but there was some fairly definitive comments from the DS that Cav would not be at the Tour.

Nowt like a bit of drama…. They said this last year too.

Once they work out they haven’t a cat’s chance in hell of a jersey they will end up taking cav to break mercx record to salvage some limelight and leqiipe front pages from the tour….but ultimately there’s only about 4/5 sprinter stages is there not so probably pointless taking cav.

not detecting cars outside of me and allowing me to undertake!

Allowing yo to actively move lanes from right to left and go under cars in the outer lanes ?

Or allowing you to continue to progress uninterrupted in the clear lane you were travelling in already.

    Dunno what cinch are like

But I bought a car last week. Thought I’d have a look at cazoo.

They were about 1000-1200 quid more expensive than main dealer on all of their vehicles of the style I was looking at (think nearly new Aygo sized vehicles)

Not only that. The vehicles I viewed were largely rough as tits. Now fair play to them They were upfront and honest they showed the issues sure….but they were really charging beyond top dollar. Tbh if I was a betting man I’d have said they were ex hire or ex car club cars going by the damage.

I picked up a rare top of the line model ( a few tiers above anything on cazoo) 1 owner /FSH from a main dealer with none of the poor cosmetics shown on cazoos pictures and paid a reasonable delivery to have it dropped at my door.

And still paid about 700 quid less than the rough looking options from cazoo.

It seems as though they really don’t want you to buy the car either. The whole site is driven to you financing.

All stank of bright House to me.

Not sure what the op actually wants. There is no way checking the torque of a caliper bolt was one of 255 checks.

why’s he offering it to someone who hasn’t even bought the property yet then!! Sounds pretty desperate to me 😂

Doubtfully desperate enough to sell for 100-140 quid.

    28mpg
    Free Member

If you want to buy it then its up to the seller to name a price

Surely you mean if the seller wants to sell it ……

If you want to buy it – you make the offer…. I mean no one wants to show their hand but if I wasn’t desperate to sell why would I show mine ? Owner holds all the aces here unless he actually needs the money…

Suggest you point farmer Jim to farmers weekly and the land agents.
If he chooses to ignore actual sale prices, say thanks but no and walk away.

As with most things… Theirs its cash value and theres it’s actual value.

Ie what it’s actually worth to you. Your idea of going in with the actual monitary value here is a wasted breath.

If you don’t know what it’s worth to you the answers probably – that you don’t need the land.

My Brother changed to big saloons (Legacy’s and the like) and my Cousin to Disco’s.

Do they realise they are a part of the problem and that bigger cars are not the solution.

    28mpg
    Free Member

Not really. The problem with the ‘sunk cost’ is that someone is paying it, and that can only be rolled up into the cost of the car.

Is that a round about way of making no point ?

Physical cost of purchase of ev is a significant number larger than of the equivalent petrol model.

That is the sunk upfront cost.

But point of use is cheaper and it’s that that people keep going on about. Bit like when folk were screaming to buy tax free cars to save 200 quid a year yet spending 10 grand to do it…..

    28mpg
    Free Member

It would be helpful if you could provide some examples.

To be fair ransos is right.

Most folk are too busy telling you how their electric car is cheaper at point of use while blissfully ignoring the sunk cost.

    28mpg

And if there weren’t so many new cars coming into the top end, then their market value would be higher and they’d be repaired.

Which is currently what we are experiencing.

Tbh France and Spain – used cars hold their value and so are repaired longer… You see alot more old cars on the roads over there.

    28mpg

16ppm Derv or 5ppm, then claim the tax back on the difference at year end.

Surely at 5 ppm on an electric car you’ll be getting a tax bill.

Tax man rate is 4 pence.

Your company are pretty stingy when it comes to expecting you to pay to run (£50k)a car for them.

Tbh their rates are penalising you for having running an EV on their behalf.

    28mpg
    Free Member

I assume they have upped your car allowances in line with the costs of <4 year old car costs ?*

    * I can guess the answer.

    28mpg

So i have £2k of VED over 4 years, then servicing etc, whereas the Polestar has three years free servicing, no VED and no risk of any out of pocket bills

So what’s the question. Seems like it’s a good fit for you…..

Stick down pedal can also be the slave punching though the clutch fork. Seen that.

101 ways for the vagueasfuck original post car to not be worth the tires it rolled in on.

yea, leave saving the environment to the private sector, they can fix anything

Video conferencing has come on leaps and bounds in the last 2 years.

But that doesn’t build the old boys club like their coffees and beers on your P card.

So, after looking at lots of cars that are now £10k more expensive than they were 2 years ago when new,

That applies to almost every car on the market new and old. Ev and combustion though

Your company car policy sounds like the perfect application of a vanity plate…..

Is the same as it is for any dependency related leave you take. COVID is irrelevant; you are entitled to take up to 25 days, I think, per year, of dependency leave. This can be for a child or an elderly relative and be For any reason if you are the primary caregiver.

Shame you missed out the key fact in your quote about (emergency) dependency leave. Your employer’s under no obligation to pay you unless it’s outlined in your contract.

A top-up of gearbox oil sorted it mostly. So I would expect a gearbox with low or no oil to be very noisy.

Given the average number of **** given by the average car user on the road today. The back of the car could be on fire and no heed would be paid….

A bit of noise…. Amateur hour. Car still moves they ain’t gonna stop.

the other thing i found when shopping over the last 3 months is …..

can get a heavy discount on brand new diesel/petrol models.

no ones budging on electric models from RRP (widening the payback time)

Also being quoted anywhere from 6 months to “unknown” on electric models. – and being fair – also on some diesel models – but for the most part diesel and petrol much more availible.

hence buying of an aygo style car till things calm down.

MAny of these issues go away if leasing and the payback gap does come down if your going from a leased diesel car to a leased electric car by the mechanics of leasing… but if your used to buying/owning for a long time then its fair jump in monetary terms to go to a lease.
