1freezingpenguin and Beerbadger, do you behave like that in real life ?

    Yes.

But by your post every single geared rider changes down not matter what the hill is.
Once again bullshit. If your so much a climbing god on your singlespeed why didn’t you win?

And yes I do ride and have raced single-speed.

How about a Mythic Spitfire? The reviews i’ve been reading about it sounds like it can ride uphill fine and still hammer the downhills.

Know how you feel CaptJon, been off the bike for the past 6 weeks myself. Physio said yesterday I could start to do some gentle riding and low and behold it starts raining 😥

I’ve been riding SS for a while now and noticed a couple of things at Wiggle Enduro 6 as it was the first time I’d mixed with a bunch of fast geared riders.

Geared riders will drop down to a low gear at the bottom of a short steep climb and crawl up it.
SS relies on inertia, so I would have to build up speed before the climb.

Geared riders will slog up a medium hill in a low gear.
I would walk up the steeper ones, then get back on and overtake people who had just ridden past me. They seemed to be stuck in that slog mentality, while I was thinking “At last I can get on and pedal”.

Geared riders will slog up a long shallow hill in a low gear.
I was forced to get out of the saddle and put more effort in to keep riding and avoid walking.

So, SSing trains me to attack hills, attack crests and push a higher gear than I would normally choose.
Stronger will power would do exactly the same thing.

Sorry, I’ve never heard so much bullshit in one post.

Just ride up the hill and don’t change gear.

Could try Tatooine. Riding looks good a bit similar to Utah.

I’ve used these several times but are in Northampton. Last time I used them it was £45 for 45 minutes.

I always find end of year sales is a good time to get things like helmets as half the time it’s only the colours have altered.

DH helmets is place I won’t scrimp on. Having crashed on a rather wet Plenny a few years ago the chinguard on a cheap DH helmet I was wearing broke up gashing my chin.

Now I always squeeze the chinguard towards the back of the helmet when buying a new one and if it flexes to easy I wont buy it and cheap ones always seem like the chinguards are made of jelly.

You go for what fits and which provides the best ventilation which you can afford.

Exactly. And lets face it £100 isn’t much considering they last a few years unless your unlucky.

Bloke at work was sent a new phone and found it to complicated. He ended up swapping with his daughters phone. Some of the old boys at work are in a panic because they have been told they’re got to have Blackberry phones.

My local Mercedes dealer let me drive an A-class for about 40 miles on back roads and dual carriageways so I could get a feel for it.

imo if they’re not willing to let you a have a decent test drive go elsewhere.

Just watched that video and agree about the neck strength and neck braces. Go somewhere like FoD and see the young kids with their neck braces on.

Was hoping to do this but injury last year and surgery last month has put me out of doing them, still can’t ride my bike hoping physio Friday is going to let me start doing some gentle stuff. Shame as a lot of them are local’ish 🙁

I use to get it on my Enduro and then later on on my Demo7. Just learn where you can pedal and where you need to coast like over rocks.

I’ve always got rid of the bikes I never rode, It use to wind me up seeing them just sitting they’re collecting dust. Always thought it was better to let someone else enjoy them and me have some extra money through selling them.
