Mine is really boring and self explanatory.. Year I was born and my first name and initial of surname.

Wish I had been wittier when I signed up many years ago!

Thanks for the ideas so far. Is bike hire for the trails a possibility? Not sure the wife would venture to far off-road but some easy fire roads would be ok.

What a bellend of epic proportions! Disappeared up his own arse years ago, hope he climbs further up and stays there.

Glad I stuck with the small frame size then when ordering mine. I was depating a medium based on the top tube length. I’m needing some flat pedals aswell as I have been riding spd’s for years. Been eyeing up some Nukeproof ones.

Coming on well mate, are those shoes for cycling? Perhaps more of a summer shoe if so.

What frame size is it and what height are you? Lots of positive comments on the colour which is good as that’s the colour I went for.

I’m with Golddigger, hoses look braided so little chance of the frame rubbing them through. If frame damage is a concern some insulating tape round the hose until a grommet can be fitted.

It’s a lovely morning here in Dundee aswell, wish I had a bike to go out on and enjoy it. I’ll guarantee it rains the weekend I pick up my new bike.

I’ll head out for a walk instead and enjoy the weather.

We are halfway through season 3, can’t get enough of it. Really enjoying it, but find myself shouting at the TV every time they go off alone or stop for a chat in the woods or street.

I have planned my survival if a zombie apocalypse was ever to happen!

I get like that at times aswell, some days I just wake up in a bad mood (having a near constant headache due to sinusitis doesn’t help). I find going for a run really helps me as others had said, I also find cleaning strangely therapeutic, so it’s out with the polish and duster.

If I’m like that I just need to be on my own, took my wife years to understand this as I grew up with 2 brothers and a sister so always people about, but I enjoy my own company and it gives me space to put things in to perspective. I have been bike less for a while now but when my new one arrives in a few weeks I’ll start heading out on that aswell. This time of year doesn’t help me as I feel like a caged animal because I can’t get out much to just potter about.

I was and still am very angry that I have had to give up Ice Hockey due to past and ongoing injuries, still not sure how to deal with this but I’m hoping my new bike will fill the void (until spring comes round and the motorbike comes out to play again). This place is also a good way to get things off your chest, always somebody to offer advice or take the piss and tell you to MTFU.. I just got a few things off my chest there! Yippee!

    Gastro anything..

If there is a sign saying “Gastro pub” I don’t even read the menu. It seems to be a fairly new word to describe a pub selling decent food. If it’s decent food just say “good food”, don’t shove Gastro in front of the word pub, put some fancy sauce in your burgers and call it Gastro. Boils my piss when I hear people saying it.

Ha ha.. They have, I asked Orange and they confirmed it was on the system.

I have seen black on black and wasn’t a fan TBH. Worth a look on the Facebook page as they often post pics of ongoing builds. Charcoal grey with black decals look superb though and depending who you order through the custom colour is free!

I’m going Mountain Mint with black decals, some shiny hope bits and Rockshox fork and shock upgrade. Called Orange and they reckon the frames should built for 22nd Feb then it needs painted and assembled. That’s at least another 3 weeks minimum.. : (

I’m considering calling them aswell to get an estimated delivery for my Four Pro. Can’t wait to get it, only ordered Friday and getting impatient already.

Buy some skin360 underwear, shave the plumbs, cover liberally in talcum powder.. Go run. Works for me.

Smell_it, you are a bit out of order with the comment. Early morning, hungover, in jest or as a random attempt at humour.

Mosey, bike looking good mate, really pleased I went for Mountain Mint having seen your build pics. Is it just the brake mount you are waiting for to finish the build?

I placed my order for the new Four on Friday, hoping for delivery in the next 2 weeks. I debated the Five or Four for a few days and settled on the Four as it will suit my needs better. Looking forward to getting it. I’ll post some pics up when it arrives.

Epic fail.. Been there and done that aswell. A trip to your LBS to see if they can help you finish the build this weekend?

Yeah that’s a fair point, however there was a fair gap for a safe overtake and nobody made an effort to pass. Not the first time I have seen this either.

Only if the “road captains” give permission! I enjoy making progress within the road conditions and limits, anybody dawdling in my way will be safely overtaken.

I was behind a line of cars the other day doing 25mph on an A road, there was a tractor up front and nobody had the gumption to overtake even though there were numerous opportunities. Peoples inability to make a decision and take responsibility, so they just sit behind a tractor and follow the car in front like sheep! Baaaastards.

I used to enjoy driving but it’s just a procession nowadays. People think by doing 40mph in a 60mph is a nice safe and sensible speed.. Which when conditions are bad it is. But when the road is clear and dry it just selfish and infuriating for other motorists.

No pudding for the lot of them!

Good stuff mate. I hoped they would see you ok.. And they have. I’m more inclined to go for the new Four now by the way.. Keep us posted on pics when it’s built.

I like the look of the bike, wasn’t sure of the design on the rear triangle at first, I appreciate it is to save weight but the more I look at it the more I like it..

In fact I like it so much I’m ordering one. Was going to go for a Five but the Four makes more sense for the riding I’ll do up here in Ecosse. Orange are stating end of the month for delivery, I do agree that the bikes look over priced with the competition but the option to personalise with wheels, paint, hub, bottom bracket and headset colours is great. Plus they just work, I had a Five about 6 years ago and an ST4 about 4 years ago both of which were great bikes.

I looked at Giant, Trek, Transition, Whyte, Specialized, Bird and Kona to name a few but I kept coming back to Orange, I did have a look at the Airdrop aswell but I don’t need 150mm travel.

Good stuff, I hope you manage to get sorted with a suitable 5 frame or some kind of deal on a drivetrain.

Yeah it is a bit misleading and the website needs updating ASAP. Hopefully they will do the right thing and offer you an XT cassette with 40T big ring.. Just reply back on this thread if you want the chainring mate.

The website also needs a bit more in the way of product info and pictures of the colours aswell, it’s hard to get an idea of the colours from the pics online and the wee coloured squares. No mention of stem length on the pro details either.

I have a superstar 32T NW chainring that I purchased a while back when they were 15% off which I would be happy to donate to you mate.

As for the spec changes.. There seems to be a break down in communication between Orange and the dealers as I was told by numerous shops that a Hope BB couldn’t be fitted with the chainset on a Pro and that Hope didn’t make a 30mm BB, I had a look on Raceface website for axle diameters and emailed Orange to confirm a standard Hope BB would fit. Also had issues regarding wheel options, when I checked the shops websites the next day they had been altered with the correct information.. Well done me!

Very interesting.. Launch date? £3700 is a fair whack for a “from” price though.

Shaungero.. I was in contact with a few shops as I was getting conflicting answers in reference to bottom bracket compatibility, wheel upgrades and custom colour charges.

I was dealing with Sunset MTB, The Riders Guild and Singletrack bikes in Dunfermline, I ended up placing the order with Singletrack bikes which is a bonus because they are loacl(ish) to be here in Dundee. All 3 were willing to participate in some discussions on price.

I ended up with a good deal so definitely worth shopping around.

It says the front mech and cable guides will be gradually phased out, so I’m guessing they have done that already.

Seriously hard work all that, I do really detest the phrase “I brought” to indicate they have purchased something. Perhaps it’s a regional thing?

Tires is another one that gets my goat, this ain’t the good ole USA cowboy! I also want to throttle anybody who describes “hydrolic” as the means to powering their brakes, it’s hydraulic for Christ sake.

Anyway back to things that matter.

Sod all that boring guff.. What happened to the guy who was “designing” a Ti frame? Did he just give up and buy an off the peg frame or is he busy learning to weld so he can build the beast?

Is it then excluded from pudding?

    What’s everyone’s favourite pudding?

I think it’s a close call between homemade sticky toffee pudding or a nice chunk of hot chocolate fudge cake with a scoop of vanilla ice cream..

2 in our house, both rescue cats.

Marley is the older one and went banzai mental when we got Buddy a year past September. We couldn’t get near her as she was going for us. Very nearly had to rehome Buddy. But she calmed down and is back to being a highly strung princess.

She enjoys being around us and sleeps at my feet in winter, has been know to paw my face gently to wake me up or to let me know she wants to cosy in under my arm. Chases and eats moths, Sleeps on the spare bed or on top of sofa during the day. Knows where the tuna is, knows the sound of my car or the keys being jingled to indicate time to come in. Hates winter and hardly goes outside. Loves lying in the sun and hiding on top of the wardrobe out of harms way. Also likes a weekly investigation of the cupboards in the house. Took a liking to a wheel box about 2 years ago for sleeping in, it’s still under the stairs for both cats use.. Bit worse for wear now!

Buddy we got as a kitten, daft as a brush and scared of everything and everyone apart from us, nobody else gets near him. Marley hated him at first but generally puts up with him now. Sleeps in the 3rd bedroom on a reclining chair when he isn’t being a nuisance. Cute as a button, likes to wake us up at 6am everyday to get fed or to get out, if you don’t wake up he jumps on you until u do! He is a simple character who falls off the window sill daily, chases the leaves blowing in the wind and head butts doors open, every night he brings his soft toy called “ducky” down to the kitchen the goes back up to his chair.. I’m guessing “ducky” must annoy him.

They generally get on ok now, they chase each other round the house, Buddy likes to sneak up on Marley then pounce on her tail, she bites his tail when he is eating so it’s tit for tat. They look like butter wouldn’t melt when they are both asleep on the spare bed.

Marley is also knows as skins, snarley, snarles barclay, pongles (wife’s idea), fish face and toots.
Buddy is also knows as buddles, stinky, idiot, moron, snuffalufagus (breaths through his nose) and sir.

Know together as “the little bastards”

I was never a cat person but they are great and good company for my wife when I’m away working.. I really need to get a life after realising how sad that all sounds when I read it back! Bloody cats!
