I start at daft o’clock in the morning and it varies most days. I can get by on 4 hours sleep a night at busy times. Getting more now as work has calmed down a bit. I just can’t sleep if I go to bed to early.

I think I will definitely hang onto the bike now, reading some of your posts made me realise it is a relatively common thing to fall in and out of love with biking. I appreciate how luck I am astral being in a position to ride.. Unlike some who for whatever reason can not. Thanks to Ton in particular, your post seemed to swing the balance and got me thinking how lucky we are to be able to ride.

Anyway disaster averted, I’m not selling, I’ll just take a sabbatical and maybe purchase some slicks and just potter about for a bit.

Ok, maybe the driving 2 hours is an exaggeration but what I meant was i find the though of going biking a bit of a scatter…. I hate myself for saying it as I used to love it do much, I raced years ago, rode DH, did XC, cycled everywhere… Maybe it is just a phase. Plus I have had a dodgy shoulder of late after some dislocation and separation issues.

Thanks for the supportive comments so far guys, all is not lost yet. Although I did really try the road biking thing and just couldn’t get into it. Apologies for the golf admission by the way! I play with the Ice Hockey dudes and find it quite therapeutic.

Yeah, I used to think about nothing else then the guys I biked with quit, got married etc and stopped coming out so much… I suppose it was always going to happen since I started playing more Ice Hockey…and cough “golf” cough.

I have tried riding different trails but no avail.

How dare you post up a picture of a white st4 frame in my size? I had one built up with white forks, red hope headset, bb, seat qr and rotors and black hubs. Lookd ace and rode even better. I sold the frame for a Cotic soul…wish I had kept the st4 aswell. Climbed superb, accelerated like a scalded dog, went downhill as quick as my old 5!

Excellent frames, id have nother if I could get one for the price I paid for a brand new warranty replacememt of fleabay!

Got all the bling bits and bobs sitting waiting for a bling frame. It is between the soul and the carbon 456….maybe.

I looked at those 456 frames before…my mate has one and he likes it..although he mainly uses it as a commuter..;-) all those kerbs on his way to work need a hard hitting bike to ride safely!

456 looks bargaintastic! I like the slightly forgiving ride a steel frame gives though, perhaps the carbon will be a bit stiff at the rear?

No, just a bottom bracket mounted chainguide. If u search my forum activity I have pics of the frame built up, u may see it in the pics. Sorry cnt help more, im away from home so cnt check it.

I run an e13 chainguide and a short cage rear mech, never dropped the chain yet. No bash either.

I run a 1×9 setup with no iscg tabs on my 2010 Orange St4 frame without any problems, I am selling this frame by the way, it climbs very well and decends even better, as good as my 5 did. The frame is white, 2010 model, 16″ and immaculate, comes with a red hope headset, bb and seat qr.

I am in a similar position, I definately want a steel hardtail…it is between the Cotic Soul or the Pipedream Scion…anybody have a frame weight for the Scion? Need to decide soon before I go mental.

Stop all this talk of Cotic please! I wish I never sold my General Lee, it was perfect, Rockshox revs, hope hoops with silver hubs, silver hope headset and bb, sram x0 mech in tango orange, 1×9 setup, slx brakes and thomson finishing kit…oh and easton carbon bars…26lbs I think it was.

I finished building mine a month or so ago, i got a good deal on a set of coil RockShox Sektor, i had RockShox on my last bike and preferred them to the Fox forks.

The Sektors are 150mm with U-Turn adjust, i woujd them down to 110mm to climb then back to 140mm for the down bits, then i realised it climbs just as well in the 140mm setting so i left them there.

I got a 2010 frame and built it up how i wanted it, it weighs just under 27.5lbs and does everything i want from a bike, climbs like a mountain goat and decends like a bike with much more travel…outstanding bike!

Yes Cougar..seriously. The car overtook me doing way more than the limit!
He met a lorry at the next corner, was going to fast and tried to avoid it, clipped the lorry, hit a wall and spun! The lorry ended up hitting a tree.

The passenger was to he airlifted but fog stopped that.

No cougar, im suggesting the driver hogging the lane should move over and let the faster vehicle(s) pass!

Not exactly the sharpest tool (being the operative word) yourself, making sweeping statements about people’s intelligence by the posts on a bike forum!

However i do agree that there a number of halfwits driving HGV’s so we can shake on that one.

So Rockshox u turn is better and more reliable? I do prefer the feeling of Rockshox forks anyway.

How long would it put on our day if we all did EXACTLY the same speed? Plus, some supermarkets limit them to 50mph! No need!

What does get me revved up is car drivers doing 52mph, then when i pull out to overtake they speed up and match my speed! Then i cnt get back in!

That is a good compromise macgyver. Just gets my back up when people start spouting off about “bloody truck drivers”. We are just trying to do a job and get home to our families aswell.

Bet u sit right up the backside of them so they can’t see u, and overtake them then cut right infront of them to take your exit with no thought to what could be in front of the truck or how the driver will stop in time if required!

44t+ takes a long time to haul up! Youd be kicking up **** if it hit u after u did that i bet!

This has been done before!

And the point is because when one truck is faster why should it not overtake?

It does make a difference when u get past a slower vehicle, if you sit behind it you are constantly having to break and if all trucks sat behind one another then how slow would the convoy be then!

Just remember we are doing a job delivering things round the country dor u, me and everybody to make use of. We work long hours, away from home all week in some cases, get hammered for fuel and get abuse, cut up, subjected to some horrendous car drivers attitudes and driving styles..and we do it all to provide a service to the country!

Without trucks u get nothing!

No bike bits, no phones, no shopping, no computers to post up threads on web forums…etc.

Have some patience! If ur in that much of a hurry leave earlier.
