Oh and the plastic bit that fits in the forks for packaging is on the floor..

Please be more observant in future.. 🙄

You can’t have just picked it up.. It is dark outside in the picture.

    Nice looking frame though..

Cushion needs attention and fluff or thread on floor. 😉

I had a Giant OCR 2 a few years back in a 46.5cm, looked really small but fitted really well. I also sat on a small and a medium a few weeks ago to get an idea of the difference. Definately a small for my dizzy inducing 5ft 5/6 height.

Seems a reasonable weight from what I found online.. 19.6lbs.

Hmmm… So near to Christmas aswell. Oh well, I’m sure the family can go without this year.

I could just do that all year then under different names.. I forgot Wiggle did that..

Got my Slx brakes from Rose, got the hoses swapped and shortened at the weekend. No bleed required.. Simples.

    Cotic releasing a small Solaris…..

Why would you do this to me? I haven’t even finished building my 3rd Soul yet.. Waiting for forks then it is ready to go.

Now I feel a Solaris coming on next year. Cy.. You are a swine!

I ran my Soul with Sektor’s wound down to 130mm, felt perfect to me at that travel. Currently building the new frame with the tapered headtube, I’m liking the look of the X fusion velvet forks, they do them at 120 or 130mm travel, tapered steerer and 15mm axle for £305.. Can’t say fairer than that. Lighter than 2012 Reba and get a great review. CRC are doing 2011 Fox 32”s with tapered steerer, 120mm travel and 15mm axle for £325 tho..

Deal on the X fusion looks better IMO, plus they won’t need services every 2 minutes.

Stegosaurus.. Look’s like it has a set of bombers to own you with.
Great white shark.. The ultimate predator really, and I just think they look incredible, especially when they jump out the water..
Eagle.. Makes it look so easy, soaring up there looking down on everybody.

People who park over 2 spaces in car parks
People who press the button for the green man…. Then don’t even bloody wait for it.. When did people loose the ability to cross a bloody road..
People who drive at 20mph in a 30… Just to be safe
People who scutter about in front of u when shopping
People who complain about being tired because they were “up at 6am for work, and never finished until 4pm” poor darlings, I was up at 1am and never finished until 5pm…now **** off.
    Lane hoggers
    Selfish people
Drivers driving round town at night with side lights on.. When did that start to be acceptable?
People who indicate right at a roundabout and go straight on????? Really? Were u taught to do that? Bet you weren’t! If you are going straight on all you need is an exit indication…
The fad bikers… Oh let’s take the kids mountain biking.. Fair enough but don’t take them on a red graded trail then have a go at me for riding to fast on the “bumby bits”
The “won’t work” brigade… They think the country ows them a living… You have to actually contribute to the country first. I heard an unemployed junki shouting at the police ” I deserve respect, I pay your wages with my tax”. No you don’t because you don’t work and therefore don’t pay tax.. Now be off with you, go and play with the traffic and save me some money
Oh and students who study shit and pointless subjects…. GET A JOB.

I could go on buy that is just a taster.. I’m not an angry person really.

    Hmmm..

Turns out you can polish a turd… You bring the turn boggles and the bike being the polish!

Looking good tho, the forks will really make it ur perfect bike. It will be a real flying machine. Steel is real baby, been telling you that for ages. You have spent long enough eating my dust, glad you have stepped up and bought a real bike. None of this poncy full bouncers for us. Nice to see you ditching some of the gubbins you carry aswell. Less is more.

Not long until Soul mk3 is finished then you can get back to eating my dust.

Seriously tho, bike looks totes amazeballs.com

Yeah like I said not fussed for lever adjustment, I only plan on setting them once and that’s it.

    The Deore’s are a tad bargaintastic…

Ordering tomorrow as I’m off out for the evening. Just forks to get now and then it’s ready to build.

Cheers for the replies so far.

Not fussed that they don’t have the screw in pads, managed with split pin set up for years so happy to stay with that. Maybe the Deore’s are the ones for me.. I’m a tight fisted git aswell so spending more for the same performance is totally against my religion.. ; )

Yeah but XT’s are like Bums… ahbody has them 😉

I think i prefer the look of the SLX over the XT, but i prefer the look of the Deore over the SLX.. SO which is best….

There is only 1 way to find out…..

    FIGHT!

Cheers B.A.Nana, that is a really good weight for them…. Probably worth paying the extra then..

I had the older SLX’s and i like them alot but never got to ride them off road unfortunately : (

Off to Rosebikes for me then..

    Cheers guys, much obliged.

Im very much a 2 fingered braker, but im sure i could change as the lever is smaller, i used to run Formula and they were 2 fingered levers.

It was Rosebikes i was looking at Sambob, Deore’s were £66 and the SLX were £108 if i remember correctly.

I was looking at Formula again but the prices are way out my price range.

I notice the tool free reach adjustment but not fussed about that, once they are set that’s it. I believe the Deore uses the old caliper aswell but whatevs….

If i could find the weight that may help swing the decision..

I get these aswell, had an operation 2 years ago to remove nasal polops as these were causing the blockage and pain.

Got blood tests to discover what triggers the sinusitis, turns out im allergic to dust.. Quite handy as I spend a lot of time working in quarries!!

I use a aqueous nasal spray in the morning, 2 scoots up each nostril and do something called nasal douching (snigger), google it to see how it works.. Mix 1 tea spoon of salt and half a tea spoon of no carbonate of soda in 500ml of water, get a 20ml syringe, full it up and shove it up your nose and let rip.. Tastes yuk until you get used to it, I use it up to 3 times a day when it’s bad, along with steaming it helps.

Also use a Vicks nasal spray, try sinutab (I think) tablets from superdrug.
Sorry for being long winded but I know how tiring and uncomfortable it can be.. Still get the headaches but not as bad as I used to.

    Mike.

You know.. Choosing a favourite Fast Show character is very much like making love to a beautiful woman…

    Swiss Tony was ace
Bob (coughing guy) the one outside the badgers set was superb
“This week I have been mostly eating POP TARTS” think it was Jed’s diet.
“Ooh does you wife love it sir, does she, hmmm. Suits you”
    “Hello Mrs Patterson”
Liked Dave Angle aswell.. Carried away like a moonlight shadow.

Ali could go on but I won’t, I love that show. It was BRILLIANT! Like the Romans.

Yeah been contemplating black but i had white on my old Soul and liked the look of it.

Sounds like you have met the worst of the weather like me.

Got my lorry broken into last week in the works yard, swines took my portable TV, Satnav, new running shoes, Oakley sunglasses, aftershave, phone holder and a small amount of change i keep for cups of tea etc.. Im currently about £600 out of pocket as it stands.

Then i was loading recycled Bitumen last Thursday and it wasn’t hot enough (only 110 degrees, should be nearer 180), so it blocked the hoses and pipes on my trailer, had to get it all burnt out, then on Friday i was meant to fuel a boat in Aberdeen and finish for 3pm, the boat never docked until midday, so i never got on until after 1pm, by the time i fuelled it and got home to Dundee it was 4.30pm.

Then yesterday, the quarry never had enough room for the Bitumen so was delayed, then the boat i was due to fuel in the afternoon was still loading when i got there so i couldn’t get in to do it, that was another 2 hour delay, then the rain decided to tip it down as i was fuelling it and blow a force bloody 10.. grrrr.

Then go hit with it all again today..blood weather.

Anyway, sorry for the rant.. back on topic.

Enjoy your mixed grill and pint, up at 1am for work again tomorrow…

    The joys.

Yes i know that there are headsets avaliable but standard steerer will look rank with the tapered headtube.

Do i have to justify all my build decisions with you lot? 😆

I guess you have been lucky then.

I want a tapered steerer because a standard one will look rank, yes i have been riding bikes long enought to know i will feel little or no difference but that’s what i desire.. 😉

    Your very scarcastic tonight Peter..

I have heard of the telephone right enough but thought id try hear for some constructive advice first..

    Quote from my original post:

“I have looked for a set of Reba’s but can’t find them in budget with tapered steerer and im not going second hand” 🙂

I looked on Merlin but they have a standard steerer and im after a tapered one.

Have gone second hand with forks before and had nowt but problems.
