I was hoping that somewhere would be discounting the GoPro Session camera but it looks like it’s still full price everywhere.

Anyone seen any good deals on an entry level DSLR and lens?

    http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/4245153.htm#pdpPromotions

£50 off Nikon D3300 and an extra £20 cashback seems a good deal, I bought my mother one earlier this year and it is excellent.

    Olympus PEN E-P5 – £329 on Amazon instead of £744 :

That one seems to have ended already, gutted as I’d have snapped that up. If anyone knows of any similar camera related deals please post them up! Thanks.

I started with a Nikon D70s and got some excellent results. Its a bit outdated and the rear screen is small, but it is well worth a look and within your budget.

I’ve been a couple of times with my nephews (5 & 7) and didn’t think it was great, but my nephews loved it and that makes it ok with me. Make sure you book though if you’re going at the weekend, unless you enjoy queueing.

Excellent choice! Having owned both, I can confirm that the scirocco is a far superior package. You won’t be disappointed!

I always thought the drummer in ‘alchemy’ was Pick Withers?

+1 I realised that not only did I know every word, but also every note of the guitar parts too!

Superb, one of my favourites. The drummer looks knackered, but really happy!

I’m 36, but a childhood of camping holidays in France and northern Spain with a father who was a great fan has left me be the rest of our family with an enormous fondness for them. Knopfler is completely effortless and stunningly good in this.

Have seen it before, but thanks for the heads up. Now watching again!

I love them, elements of Springsteen, Knopfler/Dire Straits and the Waterboys which are all massive positives for me.

Good point… shame as most of the reviews I have found seem to rate them.

    Were they renowned for that?

EDIT: a bit of googling suggests that they were susceptible to snapping at the chainstay welds…. Does anyone know if the early issues with these frames were sorted?

SRAM drivetrains. Cheap, poorly mate and massively unreliable.

Received mine today in Neon Green i gotta admit it is stunning

    When did you order mate?

ohh I didnt realise they were actually quite cheap (for XTR). Tweeks are taking pre-orders for £199

    cheap XTR cranks

Add another £100 if you actually want any chainrings though!

Paul is s very keen cyclist and has been doing collaborations with Mercian and Rapha for many years. It might be expensive, but he has a long standing relationship with cycling and is not simply cashing in on the recent surge in interest. I’m a great fan of Paul Smith shoes and clothing and the quality has always been excellent.

AAARGH! I’ve just realised that my trusty Scarpa Manta are 45 and I’ve ordered these in 46!!! Oh well, if anyone who has s set of 45 coming decides they’re a bit small, drop me an email and we’ll trade. Thanks.

Thanks for the excellent PSA, a pair of 46 are now heading in my general direction.

I use a small one of these:

    Fuel Pod

It sits on the top tube tucked just behind the stem and has room for my house key, wallet and phone.

That might do the job, thank you, although I think the tilt / pan function might scare the owls and hence be redundant….

Thanks folks, I’ve been looking at the specific wildlife orientated ones with IR and wireless but the resolution looks really low on most of them, I’d prefer something a bit sharper as we’d be feeding it live ideally onto a largeish screen so that everyone can see.

I can recommend getting one of these instead, superb quality and an absolute bargain. We found the wooden ones to be heavy, cumbersome and uncomfortable for my nephews.

I was told by a reliable source that Halfords were demanding lower prices but Hope didn’t want Halfords undercutting LBS’ and dedicated bicycle suppliers so told them where to go. Halfords then discounted all of their sizable existing Hope stock by 60% in retaliation, hence the crazy deals on Hoops etc in Jan/Feb.

Is it possible that the two photos are of different forks? The leg profiles seem very different……….

    These are 25.4mm unfortunately.

Interestingly if you try to get to the Hope website using .co.uk instead of .com it redirects to the Halfords site! Someone is clearly being a bit cheeky!

This must be stolen… Surely… £600 for an Ellsworth of this spec. Anyone???

    http://www.gumtree.com/p/for-sale/ellsworth-evolve-carbon-29er-shimano-xt-complete-bike-new-size-medium/1052508509

That is probably a scam using a photo found on t’internet rather than a stolen bike. Gumtree is full of them unfortunately.

It looks way too big to be a road fork.

+1, especially if the steerer in the picture is tapered…

+1 for aluminum, it enables slimmer profiles and is an infinitely better quality product all round.

Shimano has been a reliable constant throughout my love affair with cycling. I’m a huge fan of XT for it’s reliability, build quality and performance, a brief dalliance with SRAM X9 purely out of inquisitiveness left me very disappointed indeed. Shift quality was atrocious, adjustibility was compromised by the lack of barrel adjuster on the mech and the shifters felt like they had come out of a christmas cracker.
