    To do what??

You can get resin bonded tapes that harden, but they aren’t going to come off all that well if you need to in the future and don’t look that pretty.

After 2 -3 hours of swallowing sweet gloop, the one flavour that a lot of riders always mention when I am out on endurance rides, (albeit we are all of age 30+), is Marmite!!

Bolle Contour safety glasses off ebay for ~£8 pr. They are CE approved anti fog, anti scratch, impact resistant etc…etc. far better quality than a lot of ‘premium’ named cycling glasses 10x the price!!

Ok not interchangable lenses but you can get clear, ESP and tinted lens versions.

I normally ride in the ESP ones in daylight as they have enough of a tint for sunlight and have a pair of clear in the backpack in case it gets dark.

Not called ‘Mud-Off’ is it?? Saw their van at the Nat Champs and thought the logo was a bit too similar to Muc-Off to actually be infringing copyright!!

At school we were taught that Samuel Greg was one of the good guys, but the plot synopsis in the paper paints him as a right ####.

Did Mr Hardman lie to me in 2nd year history?

I think it was ‘relative’ and the series will probably develop to show him as the working regulations pioneer.

Sounds like a right rip off that offer!! Can you extend your mortgage to cover the cost, cheap loan that way? Panels on your roof have proven to increase property value by £10k.

As househusband stated above, a full 4kw install is way less than half of what you’d be ultimately paying.

Yes solar power is a bit ‘too good to be true’ when you look into it, but it is genuine. I’ve had mine for nearly 2 years now, cost 10K to install, but I have made 2.5k back already in FIT payments plus my Elec bill has reduced by 40%. You get FIT for 25 years, and my forcast is a total ‘income’ of £35k + reduced elec bills.

I keep telling people if they have the money sat in the bank LOSING value every day, then it’s a no brainer to get panels on the roof. If you have to finance them, then obviously you need to find the cheapest loan, which is possibly extending your mortgage.

I have had two Lavor Independent 1900 petrol jet washers over the past 6 years, (first one got nicked after 4 years of trouble free use), and they are more than man enough for jet washing.

I use it for manily cleaning my bikes but last month I went and leant a pair of wheels against the fence to clean and it took the paint off the fence, leaving two nice round bare wood stains! So it has some power to it.

You can vary the pressure / jet shape at the nozzle. When I use it on the drive I first spray cleaner on, brush with a stiff yard brush and then jet wash off and bringd up spotless every time.

Only costs £250 ish and quite a small unit too for storage.

You can supposedly move up or down one chainring size without having to do anything about the chain, not too sure that it’d work though!

I’ve done it +/- 1 rings size each way and it’s been fine. I change the Fr depending upon how steep the transition climbs are in gravity enduro races.

I did mine as ‘normal’, took shock off, fully compressed rear end, which did grow the chain at least 2 links, then added 2 links, which equates to the online SRAM doc of +4 links if that just runs the chain round without compressing the rear.

So, in my case, I have a Hope Pro 2 EVO Bolt-In hub, to be converted in a 142×12 mm, I should change the axle (because the 10mm bolt-In) and then, wich spacers? 12 mm Thro Bolt? or X12 Thro

zepequeno you need No 9. – HUB229 and Nos 28 & 29 HUB462 & 463 (which is the X12 Thro kit on the link you posted)

The Hopetech drawings are VERY useful;-

I had a similar crash to that years ago where I took out a photgrapher. After asking him if he was ok, my next question was ‘did you get the shot?’

Thankfully he was a true professional and had kept his finger on the shutter and I got some crackin photos off him :D

    ^ What he said ^

I cut a piece off a plastic bottle and slipped in down the headtube so it formed a ‘cresent’ down the non drive side, the plastic stays put Btw the steerer and the cables.

Doesn’t seem to be a problem for the upper cables where the steerer is 1 1/8th dia, just the lower ones going to the rear end where the taper is.

Been running mine now for 4 months on the AM bike, racing the UKGE’s too and as said by others previously it works great, no dropped chains and smooth shifting in all weather conditions.

The only negatives I could quote are that you lose a bit of mid range going 1 x 11 compared to 2 x 10, initially the difference in gearing when changing up 1 ring when on the gas was too much and you’d be dropping back down again. I tend to ‘spin’ a bit more now and the problem isn’t as noticable.

The other ‘problem’ is with regards the X-sync teeth on the chainring and jockey wheels, they do tend to hang onto trail muck more than normal profile teeth, so the tooth brush has to come out every wash to get all of the crap off of them. Performance wise, even though they do tend to ‘clog’ with muck, they still perform :D

If you get the DBX Comp 4 there is a good chance that he will use it as you can custom fit it to make it as comfortable as possible.

I’ve had one for 4 years and it took some fettling initially with the various spacers et al before I got it fitting correctly, but I now wear it all the time without it beiong a hindrance whatsoever.

As andymac mentioned above, worn incorrectly though and it can be more dangerous than not wearing one!! With no helmet on you MUST undo it, even stood around or just walking. Helmet on and you MUST have the brace on corectly.

Personally I think it’s the comfiest brace out there, I’ve tried an Alpine Stars one and that sat on my collar bones and hurt like hell.

TBH, I prefer it when they just slide into position, when they pop at 50+psi it scares the bejusus out of me

it still worries me it didnt ping on the rim (noise wise),

Sometimes is doesn’t pop if the bead and rim are well lubricated, it just slides into position around the rim.

I always inflate UST tyres first time to just below what the max on the wall says 50~60psi, and leaving it for a 12 hrs+ so it really locks it on the rim before reducing psi to ‘working’ pressures of 30ish.

Also if your having trouble getting one to seal, put a tube in first and again inflate it to 50ish psi and leave for a few hrs, then break one bead only, remove tube, put in valve, lubricate bead, put in sealant, feed bead back onto rim and inflate and it will pop back tubeless straight away :D

I also bought some ‘bead wax’ years ago, (white stuff that prof fitters use), and that’s ace stuff for getting beads to move and seal.

“100mphplus was that the normal or super gravity version?”

Must be ‘Gravity’ since I’ve only just found out about ‘Super Gravity’ 5 mins ago after googling it.
Bought them early last year when they first came out for general sale in Germany which was about 2 months before they were available here.

Vert star compound probably a bit overkill for AM and would be V draggy.

Been running HD trail star Fr & Rr tubeless on my Flow rims for over a year now and they have been ace.
Wear on rear hasn’t been that bad, I raced every UKGE, took the bike to Whistler for 2 weeks and did numerous UK trail centres on one rear, front still had plenty of life in it but change the rear in March for the first of this years UKGE races.

I emailed Hope in March asking the same question and they said yes you can buy a new hub with the XD freehub.

Would be a special order item from a approved Hope supplier, ukbikestore.co.uk are probably your best bet.

The RC2L has the option to lower the travel, ‘on the fly’.
Although it says it on the SRAM web site, the DH is fixed travel only, if you want adjustable travel you need the RC2L.

As mentioned above, to get ‘DH’ damping you can either do the mod or change the whole damper unit for ~£80.

OMG how to totally confuse someone!!
Right to summarise you have two options;-

    1) Get HUB231 kit to convert your existing Pro 2 hub, this is the one required- http://www.biketart.com/25884/products/hope-pro-2-old-142mm-conversion-kit.aspx As mentioned above there have been problems with this axle due to thin wall thickness.

    2) Convert your Pro 2 hub to Pro 2 Evo Spec with stronger axle, in which case you will need Axle HUB229, Spacer HUB436, Freehub HUB520 and end Spacers HUB462 & HUB463 & obviously costs a lot more.

I find these Doc usefull to compare the two hubs;-

I’m a Civil Engineer and these ‘generic’ swipes really P me off as you are only talking about 1 small aspect of ‘Construction’, i.e. house building.

The UK are leaders in other, major, areas of Construction, always looking for innovation to drive costs down.
