The Oozy are great wheels, but I would put them into the more lightweight division acin to Stans Crest, circa <1600g weight. The Spank 28 rims are on a par with Flows, 721 etc and can build up into fairly lightweight (<1800g) tough wheels with Hope hubs.

Really depends on how hard you treat them?

I concur with a lot of what excitable1 says, I too have found it a bit of a slog on some climbs and think it’s because I’m missing some mid range gears that were available on the 2 x 10. I have to spin a bit more sometimes as I’m looking for a gear ratio that’s Btw two available rear ones? I’m running a 32T up front, and that does cover the ratio extremities of my previous 2×10 set up

Not had any problems at all with indexing since the day I set the XX1 up in Feb, lovely and crisp and not lost the chain once.

1 minor ‘problem’ is due to the X teeth on the chainring and jockey wheels, they do seem to cling onto mud and trail crap more than a normal tooth so I have to employ a toothbrush to get them clean!

I also got my full groupo from Germany and saved ~£200 on UK prices

I had my Transit 115 properly mapped by Diesel Bob to improved the mid range so it now pulls like a mule in top gear for motorway overtaking and hills 8)

Diesel Bob’s not much use for you though as he’s oop norf!! A lot of the transit boys recommend this guy who’s near Uxbridge http://vantuner.co.uk/

As jam bo mentioned above a Shimano 10 speed clutch mech will work with a 9 speed SRAM shifter using a 6mm spacer btw the cable and mech fixing point.

I’ve done it on 2 bikes and it works spot on. :D

If it’s rented property contact your landlord immediately and ask him to deal with it, it’s HIS problem not yours and he has a duty of care when he rents out the property. I also hate to tell you that you need to log your exposure to it ‘officially’ as you won’t know the consequences for a long time 8O We found some at our workplace years ago and we all have to have regular health screening now!

If is it asbestos it’s in a very hazardous condition and needs dealing with urgently. I suggest you stay away until it’s dealt with as its fekin nasty stuff. We haven’t reached the peak of people dying from exposure 20 – 25 years ago yet.

You also say there’s red bags labelled ‘asbestos’ outside neighbouring properties????? I’d contact the local H & S executive as that’s fekin illegal of some cowboy clearance has just left bags lying around!!!

I’ve just bought an Uberbike ceramic GXP BB for a ‘reasonable’ £62, looks good, won’t be able to tell you about it’s reliability until spring though!

It’s difficult down that steep chute with the R hander at the bottom then it just flattens out and runs like most of the other tracks through the trees.

To convert a Pro 2 hub to Evo spec will cost you ~ £80+! (New freehub, new washer, new axle, new adptors).

I have numerous pairs of 135 and 150mm Pro 2 wheels converted to 12mm bolt through and all have survived 3+ years of use. I have numerous mates who have them too and none of us have had an axle fail and two of them are beasts and have broken virtually everything else on their bikes .

Yes it has happened to some but this “lots of people eventually snap the 12mm axle using this kit” is just internet scaremongering. I believe the problem has been the failure of ‘Maxle lite’ axles, I know I haven’t got any on my bikes so I can recommend the solution to not use one!!!

I’ve scanned through the comments and one thing that keeps being stated is that EDF are the contractor, which they are not.
EDF is the ‘supplier’ of the facility and will manage it.
Having been involved in a number of tenders over the past 3 years for Hinkley I can inform you that the facility will be constructed in the majority by UK Civil and Mechanical Engineering Companies.
Yes a few are in joint ventures with foreign ‘experts’, but it’s UK companies who will be the ‘Contractors’.

Yep two ways of doing it, either a reducer headset so the crown race is just a bigger ‘platform’ to suit the lower tapered headset bearing, or get a Hope adaptor HS136 and fit the normal tapered crown race onto it.

The Hope adaptor adds about 2mm stack height.

Nope, parasols grow in open land and also have a moveable ring on their stem.

Not identifiable in my ‘brain’ database and can’t find it in my book at work and my best books are at home, so can’t actually identify it atm

Cep / Penny Bun / Porcini all the same just different name depending upon whether you’re in France, UK or Italy.

Honey Fungus, edible but can cause stomach upsets in some people. I’ve eated them and been ok, my mate at work felt rough afterwards though, so best avoided unless you’re really curious .

As mentioned above, Bolettes are a good place to start with their tube pores, the king being the cep/penny bun/porcini. There’s really only 2 to avoid the ‘Devils Bollete’ and ‘Bitter Bollette’, the latter won’t actually harm you just tastes fekin horrible!

I particularly like the Boletus Erythropus ‘Dotted-Stem’ that is red and turns blue when you cut it due to oxydisation of the flesh. It’s one to sort the adventurous eaters out as it just looks wrong to eat but is actually V tasty

Like anything, once you get into it and learn, the ‘bad’ ones and edible ones are quite easy to identify.

I have knowledge to identify well over 200 edible srooms and if in doubt I always leave it :D

Check out the Bioskin wrist braces, they’re the best ones I have ever used, light weight, thin, not all that sweaty and can be worn under your normal gloves.

I’ve been suing Bolle Contours for years and wouldn’t use anything else.

I work for a construction Co and we recently had Bolle and Uvex in when we were reviewing our safety glasses procurement.

They both told us that the £7 safety glasses we were buying were exactly the same as the £40+ glasses they sell under their cycling specific range!!!

Look down the list for ‘North Vancouver’ & ‘Vancouver’ and check ratings.

Looks like Dunbar, Cove, 3ride & North Shore Bikes are the places to visit. I’ve been in John Henry which was ok, bit like a big Evans, Leisure Lakes or wheelebase type of shop.

Generally the following rule works in the majority of cases;-
    1 x = Short cage
    2 x = Medium cage
    3 x = Long cage

    Simples

It only doesn’t work when you’re trying to go too large a range on single, in which case you need to go SRAM XX1

I’ve use after shave balm, (nivea sensitive to be exact), in the past to take the sting out of rashes and burns.

    Aloa Vera is good too.

If it’s 10 or 11 speed you WILL NOT split it by hand like the old 9 speed chains.

To remove without the special pliers, get some wire and thread it through the gaps either side of the splint link. Use pliers to twist the ends of the wire together which tightens it and will squeeze the link together and open it.

To replace without the special pliers, assemble the link in the chain and run it around to the top drive, then put front brake on and stand on pedals which should snap the link into position.

“ischemic” is a general medical term when an organ has ‘worn out’, stopped functioning or ‘died’. It’s a kind of ‘catch all’ term.

The other far cheaper option is to buy one of the new Raceface fat/thin chainrings that will fit on your current crankset.

If it’s still within it’s warranty period then any failure of tubing or welds not caused by crash impact will be covered and you should get a replacement.

Google ‘Bioskin’ wrist guard. Have tried a few over the years and the bioskin one is best by far.
