When I was there it pissed it down for 2 days but we still hit the (empty) park on our minions and it was fine, even the woodwork.

I wouldn’t bother with spikes, at worst shorty or magic mary tyres.

The XD freehub will fit any hope evo hub, (you can convert an old Pro 2 hub to evo spec to make it fit also), doesn’t matter what the drop outs are.
However when you order your XD freehub, you do need the specific Evo drive side drop out adaptor with it, as it has a reduced sized ‘collar’ to stop the SRAM cassette nipping up on it.

So this will contain everything you need, assuming you already have a 12mm non drive adaptor? http://www.ukbikestore.co.uk/product/409/hub526_12/hope-sram-xd-11sp-freehub—aluminium-inc-12mm-spacer.html

They didn’t impose the 5:15hr embargo I’m glad to say.
I went out with 3 mates who all had problems on the route which ended up with us doing a 5:45hr lap, even though actual ride time was only 3:40, but I still got a podium :D

I got mine from bike24.de at end of June, cheaper than CRC too ;)

There has been a play on in Leeds about her (also on Radio 4), with luck they’ll make it into a film.

Maxine Peake’s play ‘Beryl’ is on tour, got tickets to see it in Salford in November.

I was told by two totally independant people who work in the trade, that UK Maxxis tyres are sat in a warehouse waiting for a problem btw the old and new distributor to be sorted. So they won’t be released until then!

Over the years I have seen regular reports and papers on options to build tunnels to Ireland, USA and Shetlands from mainland UK.

I was also involved in a feasibility for a tunnel from Gibraltar to Nth Africa, (that would have been a focal point in today’s climate!!).

Also a UK ‘hadron collider’ type tunnel in the UK, (still a goer if funding can be sorted).

Large deep storage caverns for nuclear waste in UK, (no guesses where that might be located  )

    General rules;
short – single DH, narrow cassette
    Medium – double
    Long – triple
… but on wide 1×10 or 1×11 long generally required.

bike24.de has the XT 11sp M8000 mechs, shifters and cranks in stock and cheaper than UK with exchange rate. However they have NO cassettes and they don’t know when they will be in stock either – D’Oh!

    Cider kits???

I forage for apples in autumn, (check verges near a junction, there will most likely be an apple tree there where someone has thrown an apple core ;) ), press them and put juice in a demi john and then wait 3ish months = cider :p

Really small unit and can be set to loop record, so you don’t have to worry about the card filling up.

That does sounds high, not been for 2 years but up to then I normally paid ~ 70ish.

I used to check snowcard, dogtag and Columbus direct for best price, all offered about the same normal cover unless you wanted race cover too and then the price went up.

The problem I found with all the stealth deterrents is that the feckers still try, so I went for more obvious visual ones that they see str away.
Crooklock on steering wheel with wheel on full lock. Swivel driver’s seat 180 and chain and padlock seat back to steering wheel. (Chain just long enough to fit round so it can’t be threaded off seat.)
    Deadlocks on all doors.
Bulldog 4×4 wheel clamp on front wheel.
Cat 1 alarm with sensors on all doors.

You can change the travel on Pikes by changing the air shaft, lots of options available as 1 shaft does diff travel on 26/27.5/29 forks.

    I’ve just bought a 150 shaft to change my 160 DP Pikes. They are like hens teeth in UK, but readily available in Germany;
    http://www.gabelprofi.de/Nach-Hersteller/RockShox/Air-Shaft-PIKE-Dual-Position-Air-160mm-travel-26-150mm-travel-27-5-can-be-used-to-change-travel-to-160mm-on-26-150mm-on-27-5-A1.html

    Lots of info here; http://forums.mtbr.com/santa-cruz/reducing-pike-150-140-160-150-tech-thread-889096.html

I’ve done 2 solutions in the past, if new build buy some catapult elastic. It’s rubber tubing with an ID just bigger than hose od. Slip over hose and then install through frame.
Other option if you don’t want to pull hoses out is to stuff pipe lagging down the tubes via the headtube or BB, depending upon access.

Nuke, what did it involve changing the 27.5 DP from 130/160 to 120/150, is it just purchasing a new air shaft?

I’ve MTB’d for 20+ years and after a few mates went to the dark side, I went for a bike fit for a new road bike a couple of years ago at the pedal precision place in the cycling centre.

After analysing my pedal stroke and complimenting it the guy there said that MTB’ers pedal more efficiently than cyclists going straight onto road bikes. Roadies tend to mash the pedals, whereas MTB’ers, (particularly clipped in ones), pull and push round the stroke.

If it pulls off you really need to remove the cassette to re-seat the freehub on some hubs. Hope for example has a seal that has to be ‘popped’ back into place.

The strokers are flip-flop so just turn them upside down.

… and just to confuse things even further, ‘budget’ springs can have manufacturing tolerances of +/- 15%, so that 300lb spring could be anywhere Btw 250-350lb!!

The problem in the UK is that a lot of MTB’ers do not know the correct trail etiquette!

Only on a black does a faster rider have priority. On green, blue and red, slower riders have the priority! However on a red, slower riders should be considerate to faster riders, (if the faster riders are being considerate too!) and let faster riders past at the earliest opportunity.

Yes youngsters should be allowed to ride whatever trail they are capable of, I know a lot of sprogs who can beast grown ups on some blacks, certainly if they have BMX experience, they are usually ace on the ‘jumpy’ trails. However, I would recommend that the parent/grown up acts as ‘tail gunner’ to protect them against the strava w4nkers.

At a lot of trail centres I often see grown ups walking past the first obstacle on black runs – if you can’t do that feature, you shouldn’t be riding that trail!!

Aren’t hayes levers flipflopable (yes it’s a word) so just swap them?

    Apart from Dyno Comp’s!!

As ‘benpinnick’ said above ^, but prior to undoing anything, first remove wheels and pads and pump both levers a couple of times to push the caliper pistons out a bit.

Swap hoses over as above, then when all tightened push pistons back in calipers using a small ring spanner. This will effectively bleed the system and push any air in the hose into the lever reservoir.

What you trying to say? If it’s not illegal, what’s wrong with a bit of nepatism ;)

I also know most of Si’d brothers and Finlay isn’t one of them :)

Use a Helmet or chest mount then you don’t have to worry, plus you get all the footage when some numpty knocks you off ;)

Check out hedcamz.com, they have a mini bullet camera that can do ‘loop record’ which is ideal for cummuting.
Unless you want to specifically download some footage, it automatically over-rights the oldest recording, so you never have to worry about ’emptying’ the card.

Edit… although just noticed one possible problem, the settings are on a text file that you need to access on a pc to change! A mate said his plugs and plays straight to his ipad, so you might be able to do it via a phone.

My company gave budgets for some of this and TBH it could be done relatively cheaply, it just depends on how much shite the architects reckon there should be added to ‘enhance the experience’ – FFS!!
