TBH, if it's a commuter you can ditch the granny ring and probably only need an 11-26 max cassette.

I run an 11-34 on mine, if you use the shifters correctly then you'll never have a problem.

I once went in with the wife to get some car odds and sods and whilst gathering bits I spotted her in the bike Dept talking to a young assistant. She then proceeded to walk towards me laughing, as after asking the assistant why were two identically specced bikes £50 different in price, she was told one was green and the other was red!!!

On the treadstop topic, I'm not ashamed to say I've heard and used the stuff in the past and recently read a 'Top Tip' somewhere that informed that the glue used to repair wet/diving suits can be used to repair treads too.

The sprint shorts are tighter fitting that the Moto shorts and are not as hard wearing material.
I have 34" moto shorts and they are spot on over the top of my Dainese viking pro bib armour, wheras the sprint shorts are too tight. The sprint shorts are designed more for whippets ;o)

Fixing it into brickwork will not provide as much strength as the concrete, but it will provide the most strength if you drill into the actual brick rather than the mortar.

You'll also have to get the BB shell faced on both sides to ensure the external BB cups sit parallel to each other.

140mm – 28mm means the shock is 140mm eye to eye with a 28mm stroke.

The 140mm is more or less a fixed length for the bike so any replacement shock must be the same length as a longer or shorter shock will completely mess up the geometry.

There is no standard shock length for 6" travel supsension it is all governed by the frame geometry / leverage ratio. For your 6" of travel I'm guessing you'll have a shock with ~50mm stroke giving a leverage ratio of ~ 3:1.

If you want a new shock you'll have to buy one of the same dimension, but I would recommend a Fox Float RP2 or RP23.

All the trails on the lower slopes should be open, the park team are clearing snow as we type. There’s enough there to keep you busy for a week. My mates have already been out to Pemberton and Squamish and they’re all ready to go now.

All the latest can be found on the official park site;-

Please remember to mention you heard it from me if you book :)

Just to clear some queries up, the weeks in question are all after the bike park opens for the season so you would be one of the first riders down the hill this year 8)

2.5 Minnions Fr & Rr, ST front, 60a rear if you intend riding upper Garbanzo.

A ST rear will be ok if you stick to the lower whistler slopes, but the rock ‘up top’ shreds ST rears.

Now if you have some £, the 3C’s are the baby’s to have.

The both provide a great service, no question, I have used both and would recommend both.

However, I personnaly prefer the way Tim Flooks sets shocks up rather than Chris Porter’s thinking, but then again I know other people who are contrary to me. It does boil down to how you want your suspension to feel.

If you run the HR on the front, turn it round opposite to the direction arrow and it will roll faster. This is the way Comp 16 Michelin tyres, (which they have all copied), have the direction arrows and we turn them arround for DH.

If you’re converting from QR you need a conversion kit which includes a new spindle and 2 end caps, existing bearings are retained; http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=21849

As Bobster said, the one tool you probably need is the freehub seal tool, but thankfully I had a large 3/4″ drive socket that did the job just as well, a 1 3/4″ soil waste pipe would probably do the job too.

There’s a bit of a cycle crime wave happening in Edinburgh at the moment, other forum sites have reported numerous people getting their bikes stolen from their flats too. The scum are obviously targeting bikes and following them home!

I ride for the Ticket2RideBC MTB team and part of my deal is to try and persuade fellow mountain bikers that you really should go and holiday in Whistler with Ticket2RideBC. Furthermore, to try and persuade you even more I am able to offer a 5% discount on the price of your holiday when you book.

I won’t go into the normal sales speel as you already know what’s on offer MTB wise, but there’s also lots of other things to do for your non-mountain biking partners – walking & hiking, horse riding, white water, worlds longest span peak to peak gondola, bungee, zip lines, 4×4 trails, paint balling, golf and you can ski and board until the end of July on Blackcomb Mountain! It really is the adventure holiday destination to cater for everyone!

Go to http://www.ticket2ridebc.com and on booking your holiday use the discount code ‘T2R01’ to receive the 5% discount*

Furthermore if you’re quick and book before the end of March there’s a free Giro helmet offer too!

Prior to undoing any locking nuts, take the pads out and pump the pistons together.

Now change the hoses at the lever ends and when you push the pads apart they will self bleed pushing any air into the reservoir

I have 4 and they all get ridden regularly.

The DH bike every other weekend,
6″ ‘enduro’ bike at trail centres on the ‘other’ weekends
    Hardtail on a wednesday nightride
and Brompton folder when I’m on the train to London most weeks :o)

I converted some to 12v and also power them with a 14.4 lion volt battery. Yes they get ‘warmish’ but have never melted the nylon lamp housings, still going strong after 4 years :o)

Fenwicks FS1, 1 Ltr for ~£5 makes up 10 Ltrs of cleaner, it’s the best value for money and also the best actual cleaner I have ever used too.

For really greasy areas use it neat.

No problem, the 6v bulbs will take the extra voltage and produce brighter light albeit at a slightly reduced bulb life.

Lumicycle overvolt their 12v bulbs with 14v supply, it’s a common practice.
